Do you want the game audio coming through you headset on the PS3 also?
If not then an USB headset will work. I have the microsoft lifechat 3000 but I wish I had gotten one with one ear open. Something like this.

If you are only using the headset for voice chat, I like to use something like this
voice chat only goes through the headset, and game sound through the speaker.
logitech made on for socom on ps2 that will work. It is usb and good quality. I used it until I upgraded. Search the gamestops, I see them used once in a while.
