How the Tube shaped London.

I have this at home (now in Sydney), was issued to us when the tube reached 150 years and I worked on the Tube at the time. More focused on on he history of the construction and how London grew because of the expansion, rather than how the tube evolved to suit the population needs. Would recommend

While people have cited soil differences between north and south there is another far less known reason why there are so few tube lines south of the river. Southern Railway essentially blocked any further tube lines once the Northern line reached Morden for fear it would compete with their train services.

Probably this book on the London Underground.

I just LOVE trains and London and the tube. It's fascinating!
