I don't think so, not by itself atleast. It weights 3 ounces. The mag flashlights are diesel in size and weight. Easy to be a club. This one here is good for defense when you have it on a long gun. The edges are sharp so you can poke and stab with it while it's on a gun.

This one here is heavy. 3.3 lbs of metal.

This one here is lighter, but a good amount longer.

Three big problems here.

  1. No light you get is going to be "chargeable with mains." You'll need either a USB adapter (if you get a rechargeable light) or an external charger, which often does plug into the wall.

  2. Flashlights are not for self defense. You'd be better off just running away. If you want an 100 lumen light you can defend yourself with, get a 6 cell Maglite (£35.99).

  3. 100 lumens is relatively weak. Most 18650 lights can get up to 1000 lumens.

I don't know anything about what is or isn't allowed in the UK, but if you're dead set on getting a flashlight, a Convoy S2 is the go-to cheap light around here. This link has it and a battery for 15 pounds. Here's a charger for 7 pounds.

If I was going to carry a light for self defense, I'd go with something more classic - [The 6 D cell Maglight]

There's a reason the cops carried them for so many years, and it wasn't for their adjustable beams.

But you could always go with something more aggressive.

I don't really worry about terrorist attacks, I'm much more likely to die of drinking too much in a pub, than being killed by a terrorist in a pub.

However, in my house I have a 6D maglite. It's pretty blinding and carried correctly you can really spoil someone's day. Obviously it's close to my bed in case I need to check the garden at night or the electricity goes out, so it might well be the first thing that comes to hand if I felt threatened. On t'other hand I also have an ice axe in the bedroom cupboard.

> Size: Roughly the size of a 2-3 cell maglight.

Any particular reason for not choosing a 3 D Maglite? You're basically asking for a Maglite, and you can get everything you want in a Maglite. I recommend a standard Maglite, not the LED Maglite, then upgrade it with one of these LED's:

Maglite

These are the flashlights American police carry. They are quite heavy and sturdy which helps them function as one hell of a club. Very well made and should last your lifetime.

All you do is focus the beam and blind said intruder with the light. If they keep coming, knock them in skull with it and they will go down instantly.

No problem. Also this is the kind of thing I had in mind. It's long, heavy, let's you see them, let's you blind them, and is a perfectly reasonable thing to have in your home/car/etc.

I mostly like having 6 D-Cell Maglite in my car.

Flashlight, obviously. A good heavy duty one, with adjustable spot, and a spare bulb in the endcap. It also functions as a great all-purpose club. Can also use to break through glass (especially if you replace your end cap with a special glass breaking pointed end cap).

Last, but not least, it can be a sort of weapon if worse came to worst.

If by a decent weapon, you mean it could crack someone's skull open, then yeah. It's heavy, about as long as my forearm, and is made of pretty solid metal. Plus, a flashlight is always handy. Here's the one I am talking about.

I have a concealed carry permit and normally carry a .38 with me, but I'd lose my job if they found it in my car while at work, so, the flashlight will have to do.

there are so many wide variety of chinese flashlight brands today and most of them are cheap and reliable and incredibly bright but very compact I guess its not good for self defence, but if you want a flashlight that can kill in one swing then I recommend you maglite 6d incandescent, 30 bucks in amazon then upgrade it to led later, I have old 4d maglite and still serves me well until now I bring it when I walk my dog at night here is the link of maglite 6d https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000056BME/ref=emc_b_5_i
