Heh, you can, actually. Just doing a quick look at Amazon gives all three games for $39.80[1][2][3].

I'm not sure re the DLC cost, going by this site, Bring Down the Sky was free for PC, Pinnacle Station is $5, Cerebus Network is free (now), Zaeed / Firewalker Pack / Cerebus Assault / Arc Projector / Crash site were free with it, and you'd get the "online pass" thing with purchase so that's free. So total cost is $44.80 for what they're going to sell for $60. That's pretty ballsy.

Why don't you just buy a hard copy?

There, problem solved.

If that's not ripping buyers off, I'm not sure what is.

Or you could buy it for $60 on Amazon? There are also sure to be better deals in other online stores.

Brick and mortar stores are nearly always more expensive than online, and Steam is also a rip-off for any launch title (only their sales are good).

In Europe, you'll pay €50-60 at launch on Steam/Origin. You can pick up the game on Amazon.co.uk/Play.com/etc. for (usually) €35 max. Even if the game was on Steam, it would be the same price as Origin. That's no justification to pirate it.

Huh, I looked up Mass Effect for Mac to be sure before posting that, and I can't find anything on Mass Effect 2/3 for Macs. Did you play it on Wine or something similar? I can confirm via Amazon that it's not available on Mac, and they have every version available- PC boxed copy, PC download, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U. They even have the different editions. Yet no Mac version. Here's a post on the Bioware forums confirming no Mac versions.
Here's MacRumors' thread for a possible rumor on the Mass Effect series getting a port to Mac, but they shut it down too.

Further, Googling "Mass Effect on Mac" returns a bunch of forumn questions, but no links to retail sites or download sites. Conversely, Googling "Mass Effect 3" gets you links for Gamestop, EA, and Amazon, all on the first page.

Methinks maybe there is no actual Mac port of Mass Effect 2/3, and maybe you just played the series in wrappers like Wine?

Also, you didn't play a port of Skyrim on Mac, you played Skyrim in a wrapper. There is a big difference- official dev support, DLC, mods, updates, performance differences, etc. As OSX Daily notes, it *"runs a lot better in Windows natively"

$40 for Kingdoms of Amalur and $50 for Mass Effect 3 don't really seem like much of a deal.

edit Added in links.

Their physical editions are much cheaper.

Distributors. This does not make any fucking sense.

>The alternative is that they're accidently running themselves into the ground by making an ending that made absolutely no sense. There wasn't even anything close to a coherent thought in the ending.

Just quoting it to show you the part you're right about. The rest is you just defending Bioware endlessly because you don't like the unfortunate truth.

And obviously you didn't Really check Amazon, since the game is being sold new by several people for less than the original $60. Google "Mass Effect 3 price" and you will see a list of retailers selling it for less than $60.

Mass Effect 3 for Origin is on Amazon right now for $5.99.

I keep trying to submit it to this subreddit, but it gives me the message "Looks like you're either a brand new user or your posts have not been doing well recently. You may have to wait a bit to post again. In the meantime feel free to check out the reddiquette, join the conversation in a different thread, or verify your email address."

Any idea why this would be the case? I'm neither new, and my recent posts have been pretty successful.

I don't know about list price, but boxed PC copies have been at or below $20 for a while now. Heck amazon has boxed copies of ME3 for PC for $11.45 shipped at the moment.

People are upset because this game was hyped up so hard and when it launched, it was imperfect. It had a metacritic user score of like negative twenty on the first day because the midnight launch didn't go very well.

It's not just Diablo 3, it's just about every other hyped up game there ever was, ever. Except Skyrim.

It's not that those games didn't have their flaws, but seriously, "I ONLY PLAYED THIS GAME FOR 300 HOURS, IT IS TERRIBLE AND MADE BY THE WORST GAME STUDIO ON THE PLANET" is getting old.
