Yeah, Sunday school is really awful in that regard. If you're still interested in the MM Massacre, there is an excellent book published by Oxford press that is considered the best resource on the subject. It's excellent.

I would recommend it to anyone interested in early American, especially Western, history. It doesn't shy away from anything and identifies why and how it was so horrible.

Okay. Yeah - I can get that. I'm going to go with "It's much, MUCH more complicated than you think." I'm not saying the church leadership at the time is without guilt. I AM saying there are two sides to every story.

I highly recommend [Walker's book] (https://www.amazon.com/Massacre-Mountain-Meadows-Ronald-Walker/dp/0199747563) if you want a more thorough look at what was going on.

Though this book isn't focused purely on John D. Lee, you should at least read Massacre at Mountain Meadows as this is probably the most complete work regarding the Mountain Meadows Massacre of which John D. Lee is notorious for being involved with.
