It supports band 12 700 MHz, but it is not enabled at the moment.

It uses nano SIMs if you need to switch between nano and micro SIM devices these work great. http://www.amazon.com/MediaDevil-Simdevil-adapter-Micro-Standard/dp/B00G26XWDI/

You can keep a nano sim registered on your line and then use an adapter (nano->micro) so it will fit in the other phone. This way you'd have one number but would have to move the sim card every time you want to switch phones.
The adaptors are like this.

You can call Verizon and have them send you a nano sim card. Then, if you have a few bucks to spare, you can order a nano sim adapter to activate that nano sim card on your current device, even if your current device doesn't take a nano sim card

I went this route to activate a nano sim card on my line with my HTC One M7 (uses micro sim).

Edit: Completely missed the bit where you said you already have an unactivated nano sim. Still, you can activate that nano sim in your current phone with a sim adapter.

I actually have a nano SIM, and I bought an adapter that turns the nano SIM into a micro SIM for the 1+1.

Basically this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00G26XWDI?cache=7ad731ec26fc96d1dd5e7bb0121ed865&pi=SY200_QL40&qid=1410963744&sr=8-1#ref=mp_s_a_1_1

If you manage to get a Nano Sim from verizon, go to Amazon and buy a nano sim adapter. Stick your nano sim in the micro adapter. Put it in your old phone and activate the sim. Then you can use it for the Nexus 6. Avoided all the cutting.

Something like this. But based on a secondary search, it seems both phones already use micro sim cards, so there might not be a need for it.

I've been using this sim adapter. I went from a Nexus 4 to iPhone 5S to the OnePlus One and this has been working perfectly for me.

sim adapters are like 6 bucks on amazon...for the nice ones.

I got this one for my wife when she got tired of being jealous about my Nexus 5 and needed an adapter to go from micro to mini...

What's your use case?

If you just need a new sim, just go into a store and ask for one. They'll give it to you. You may even get them to transfer your service for you.

If you actually need to change between devices of differing sim sizes, I've bought this one. Be forewarned that you'll want to tape the sim down. I cut the plastic window out to do so. Otherwise there is a high risk of the sim and/or adapter getting stuck.

Interesting. The ones I plan on buying seem to be of high quality, but I will definitely keep your advice in mind moving forward.

Thanks!

EDIT: Just FYI these are the ones I plan on buying http://www.amazon.com/MediaDevil-Simdevil-adapter-Micro-Standard/dp/B00G26XWDI/

Let me know if these are the ones that may jam

You should buy some trays like [these] (http://www.amazon.com/MediaDevil-Simdevil-adapter-Micro-Standard/dp/B00G26XWDI/). Personally I use corrugated cardboard and make the cutout with an razor, but if you actually plan to do this at some point buy the tray and save yourself the hassle.

Nah, you cut the sim, then you use the adapter to use it as a full size. I used to do it before with and old phone. Example: https://www.amazon.com/MediaDevil-Simdevil-Adapter-Micro-Standard/dp/B00G26XWDI

If it was the 3 in 1 sim kit, I'd see if they can provide the full card so that it properly fits without an adapter. If it's working though you should be fine.

If you want to avoid the store, this should be fine - MediaDevil Simdevil 3-in-1 SIM Card Adapter Kit (Nano / Micro / Standard) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G26XWDI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_.aetzb4WJX2QD
