I would honestly just go to a game store or something to get it. It may be expensive but at least you know what you are getting.

I got a 120gb one a while back and it made my old 360 so much nicer since I could actually install games without having to delete a bunch of crap. Keeps the jet engine of a disc drive quite.
Amazon still sells retail drives for the older generation Xbox 360. You can find 320 gig hard drives for under $60

Only down side is you can't play Xbox Original games with this particular drive. :(
the one I linked works for the 360 S and 360 E. if you have an original style 360, with the drive that pops on from the outside, it looks like 320GB is the sweet spot right now:
Though if you can spare the extra $13, might as well get the 500GB and call it good.

Only issue is that it might not be BC with original Xbox games.
If they are using an external drive to save and install games to, they have modded their XB360 to do so and risk the chance of being banned from XBL. While it is possible to install a third party's hard drive internally on your XB360, it takes several steps to prep the drive which include downloading an image and some tools to get it installed properly. While not impossible to do, there are only certain drives that will work for this and it's a bit of a pain in the ass (I did it a while back myself). Your easiest way to do upgrade is to just purchase an official drive.

If anybody has a small hard drive and is worried about "update data" taking up a lot of space. I upgraded to a 200 GB hard drive for around $50. (plus transfer cable for ~$10)
The key is to buy a generic brand. You can get a 320 GB HDD for 360 for about $55 which is great compared to what they used to be priced by Microsoft.
