Well, with showers the best you can make is compromise. When I lived in my college dorms there was no baths, only personal showers, and sometimes you do just really need a pool of water. For this to work you need to think about high high the sealed flooring in the shower goes. If it goes up to 6" to 1', a suction lid ( like these things ) Can be put over the drain to keep the water in the basin. If it's less than that, I'd just put a washcloth over the drain. Itt'l keep enough water in to make shaving legs easier, and lets just enough out so the shower doesn't over flow. Other then that there really isn't anything else you can do without making the 'compromise' seem humiliating.
