Cosleeping just seems dangerous. A few months ago my husband's cousin woke up to two screaming parents in the next apartment over. Apparently the wife got up for work and the husband rolled over in bed. He ended up suffocating their baby. Such a tragedy that could have been prevented.

We are planning to use something like this: Mika Micky Bedside Sleeper https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J232RV4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_LtRMDb7DQA4PS

My bed is on the ground, I also have a slim box spring so this was actually perfect for us. I was able to just sit up/ reach down and get her instead of actually completely getting up. If you have a King this would fit in the bed between you and your SO. They have other similar versions for bed side with adjustable height, of course more spendy. This made sense for us.

The most convenient part was having her right next to me, with out co-sleeping, and not having to actually get up/out of bed. Babies wake up every 2 hrs to eat, that’s a lot of getting up at night. The other thing if you plan on using a pacifier newborns suck at keeping them in so, it was nice to just reach down to put it back in a comfort her.

I use this until my baby could push her self up/got to long, then we switched to a crib, she was also sleeping longer stretches at night at that point so I didn’t mind. Would be worth checking for second hand bed side cribs. At minimum plan to have your baby close to your bed and not across the room, atleast for the first week.

I just found this bassinet/cosleeper online n I like that it looks easier for breastfeeding, can be packed up for travel, and is on wheels so can be moved into another room if I want: https://www.amazon.com/Mika-Micky-Bedside-Sleeper-Portable/dp/B07J232RV4/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=bedside+cosleeper&qid=1556010314&s=gateway&sr=8-2
