Hmm, upon further research, it looks like the movie might be based on this book:

... which means now I'm significantly less excited about it. At first I thought it was going to be a real biopic about Tolkien, maybe including some filmed portions of LOTR, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion to show his imagination at work. But this sounds like misguided, revisionist crap.
