I stumbled upon this subreddit, and am so excited to discover Asian beauty. I live outside the U.S. and had someone coming to visit, so everything I purchased was from Amazon Prime so that I could get it in time. Also, being such a newbie here, shopping on other sites is a bit intimidating for me. I thought this would be helpful to others that are just starting out with Asian beauty.

My SCINIC Honey All In One Ampoule is in plastic because the lid came loose in transit and spilled everywhere, but there is still half of it in there. So far I have tried a few face masks, and I am in love. I am so excited to try it all! :)

Biore Aqua Rich (god I don't even know what the full name is) is an HG for a lot of people! Thickness definitely won't be a problem with this one -- it dries down almost instantly leaving virtually nothing behind and is very easy to wear underneath makeup.

I just started using Missha Safe Block Essence Sun, and so far so good. This one's less water-y and alcohol-y than the Biore, but still dries down great.

u/clefairys · 6 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I've had good experiences with Asian suncreens: Biore Watery Essence and Missha All Around Safe Block, specifically. These don't irritate my skin like some American sunscreens (including Nuetrogena) do.

u/ABlackUnicorn · 3 pointsr/bangtan

Also have nothing to add here, since I have no idea what they use, but just wanted to say that I've switched over to a Korean skincare-based regimen, and my skin looks glowy and awesome every day! I won't go into everything I now use, but I will say that I love double cleansing (I was using coconut oil as a first cleanser even before I ever heard about proper double cleansing, but at KCON NY Charlotte Cho told me to stop doing that, and who am I to deny that goddess anything??) and essences! I also use moisturizer and sunscreen every single day when I didn't before. And eye cream! I think the fine lines and dark circles under my eyes have definitely improved, and I don't look quite so tired anymore. I just massage all this stuff into my face, chanting "No wrinkles, no wrinkles, no wrinkles"...I think it's working, lol.

My favorite products are Neogen's Real Flower Cleansing Water in Calendula- I use this in place of traditional astringent toner after washing my face, Son & Park Beauty Water- I quite literally slap this on after the toner. I guess it's overkill, but I don't care- I like the way it smells and I personally think it tightens my pores! It's hard to say because I switched my entire regimen at one time- something I don't recommend doing at all (I kinda lost it after meeting Charlotte in person at KCON and I dropped a shit ton of money on her site)- so it's hard to say that this has made all the difference, but I ran out of this Missha First Treatment Essence Mist about a month ago, and I really do think I can see the difference. I need this in my life...I can't wait to order more!
I'm also all about snails, so this CosRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence is super awesome and hydrating. During the hottest days of summer I would just put this on in lieu of moisturizer, and it was good enough. It makes my skin feel bouncy, and I love it.

Alright! That was fun- I really wasn't a skincare junkie before kpop...I was more into makeup. Now I realize that with excellent skin, I don't need to be as obsessed with covering up as much as I was before :)

u/popnpep · 3 pointsr/AsianBeauty

It's definitely the CosRx, I think it would pill under most if not all make ups. As the name implies it's a cream so its a little thicker but it leaves no white cast and soaks up well and feels moisturizing. It's great as a standalone which is what I'd been using it as these last couple weeks so today was the first time I tried make up on top of it in a while and now I remember why I hadn't been using it under make up (RIP).

What I really like using under make up is either Missha All Around Safe Block Sun Essence and Innisfree Eco Safety Perfect Sunblock which is their older recipe which I believe is now split into either a Dry Skin Version and an Oily Skin Version. Which I have yet to try.

I hope that gives you a start!

I was just diagnosed myself -- July 2017, so I'm trying to figure things out too. The way your rosacea presents itself sounds like mine.

I'm currently taking brand Oracea, but I used to take the generic Doxycycline IR-DR. I changed health insurances and the one I have now doesn't cover the generic. Weird, right? Anyway, I also apply Metronidazole Gel 0.75%. It took almost a month to clear my face. Even my acne was gone.

Triggers vary from person to person. If you can identify them, then you can avoid them or take the necessary steps to manage your symptoms. For example, you can't avoid the sun unless you want to be holed up in a windowless room for the rest of your life. So apply some sunscreen! I'll get more into that later.

Establish a skincare regimen for yourself. It doesn't have to be fancy or long and extensive. Just cover the basics. If you can't get yourself to follow it daily, then it's no good. I've read that niacinamide is great for rosacea as it alleviates the symptoms amongst other benefits. The products I use containing niacinamide are Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser, The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum, and Cerave PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion (which I use in the morning too, not just at night).

If you're not using a sunscreen already, what are you waiting for?! Even before I was diagnosed with rosacea, I was already applying sunscreen to my face as the last step of my morning skincare regimen prior to applying makeup. I use Missha All Around Safe Block Essence Sun SPF 45/PA+++ or Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Cream Triple Care SPF 50+/PA+++. Both are Korean brand sunscreens. The Missha one has witch hazel extracts which can be a trigger. It doesn't affect me though. The Innisfree one has niacinamide. Definitely check out /r/AsianBeauty/ and /r/SkincareAddiction/ for more recommendations.

For some people, spicy food is a trigger and should be avoided. I am one of those people. Story time! (You can stop here if you don't want to read my story. :P) I don't really like spicy food, so I usually avoid it anyway. Well, last week, I bought 8 pc. fried chicken from the grocery store. I thought I had dinner covered for the night and leftovers to eat over the course of the week. It turns out the guy gave me spicy fried chicken. I didn't want to go back to the grocery store nor did I want to throw it away, so I sucked it up and ate the fried chicken anyway. The following morning, I woke up to dry, red, irritated skin on my face. I attributed it to the cold weather and decided to bust out some heavier moisturizers. It wasn't until the next time I ate the fried chicken that I remembered spicy food can trigger rosacea flare-ups. I didn't want to waste the fried chicken, so I finished it. My skin was angry with me, but it's starting to subside now.

Tbh I use MIISHA's All Around Safe Block Essence Sun 45 SPF and it's so moisturizing that I use it as a primer every day as well. It even replaced my Lorac Primer I previously used. I've read some reviewers saying they even use it moisturizer, primer, and sunblock, but I have dry skin so I still moisturize prior to use.

There's literally no white cast w/ this sunscreen and I've had ppl ask me before what highlighter I'm using on days I'm just wearing the sunscreen lmao

Best part is, it's like $11 on amazon

u/009CyborgMaiden600 · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I have dehydrated skin and I've had forehead wrinkles and fine lines even in my teens. If you're not doing it now wear sunscreen on your face and neck (and other places too).

Start a routine that focuses on staying hydrated and sunscreen every day! (r/asianbeauty) is the only other sub that has drastically helped my skin. Keep your routine simple and always patch test new products. CeraVe is a great choice for moisturizer and is holy grail for a reason. Korean and Japanese sunscreens are the best IMO. They layer better under makeup and have extra benefits.

I've been using this one for years: (https://www.amazon.com/Missha-Around-Block-Essence-SPF45/dp/B00ENTM3FY).

The essence. It's this one.

u/Swysp · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I love love love love Missha's All Around Safe sunblock. It comes in 2 varieties: matte (pink) and waterproof (blue). Given that you want to wear it under makeup, I think the matte might be more your speed. I've linked the store page, as well as the Cosdna below. PS: it lasts for months!

The Biore watery essence stuff is really popular for a reason. I personally really like it. I've also tried Missha and it's fine but I like the scent of the Biore better. (Obviously YMMV there - the Biore has a fresh citrusy scent and the Missha has a bit of a flowery scent.)

You can get the Missha stuff I'm talking about on Amazon, too - https://www.amazon.com/Missha-Around-Block-Essence-SPF45/dp/B00ENTM3FY/ref=pd_ys_c_rfy_rp_3760901_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00ENTM3FY&pd_rd_r=2Q45QSHX69QN3VE4KPNE&pd_rd_w=byJXN&pd_rd_wg=Alp50&psc=1&refRID=SVH52RRGM9KFGDJS4X83

Yup! Prime is lovely haha. Here's a link for the Missha one

do you have an issue with buying it from amazon? if not, it is for sale here.

u/ms_ireneadler2 · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

Can someone tell me if this sunscreen is "chemical" or "physical"?

u/3byeol · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

You should definitely look into sunscreens produced in other countries, they're way less greasy and absorb 1000x more nicely than American ones ime. r/AsianBeauty has a lot of info on asian sunscreens in particular, but I personally like Biore UV Aqua Watery Essence and Missha All-Around Safe Block +++. I literally refuse to wear any sunscreen from the USA now (Neutrogena "Dry Touch" is such a greasy-ass lie), I keep a stash of the Japanese Biore sunscreen in my house instead.

u/Temporary_Viberg · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

Thanks for the recommendation - I am thinking about getting this one on Amazon because it's $10.00 and doesn't have a white cast (My base tone is brown.) The only downside I found was a comment says that it smells like flowers.

Hold on, I think I have that one somewhere, I’ll have to look. I’ve tried almost all the Missha sunblocks, and I prefer the essence one in a white bottle with pink and black typeface. It’s this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ENTM3FY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_bL05CbVQAK0J6

All the others were greasy or left a white cast, but I have very dark skin.

EDIT: So the one you linked is def. the better of all the one's I tried, and the ingredients list looks good.

Missha All Around Safe Block Essence Sun SPF45/PA+++ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ENTM3FY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_fc7Dm89L3HcwH - hands down my favorite sunscreen. I don't have sensitive skin, combo really, and this stuff never makes me feel clogged.

u/patpatamoncheeks · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

Have you tried any other sunscreens? Just to be sure it's this Missha sunscreen, if so looking at the cosdna ingredients listed it looks to be all chemical sunscreen actives (to learn more about sunscreen this recent post goes in depth). To rec a sunscreen off bat is hard unless you have a better idea of what ingredient could've trigger you, has any other product broke you out that has ingredients in common with the Missha? Also, your best bet for looking for a sunscreen would be to do a google search of "reddit asianbeauty sunscreen dry sensitive skin."

But looking at the line
>dry skin that flakes, can be sensitive, and has a lot of redness, and bumpy-dry patches. I get hormonal breakouts.

and knowing you use retinol, did the dry, bumpy patches and general redness occur after the retinol use or have you always had them. If the former, the retinol may have just dried out your skin and looking at your routine you look like you'd benefit some hydration so do a google search for "reddit asianbeauty hydrating toner for sensitive skin" to get some rec's. You may end up not needing an AHA, and because you're using a moisturizer with inadequate sunscreen protection I'd look into a sunscreen first and hydrating toner second.

However, if you've had the dry flaky skin, and rough patches before using retinol the AHA would likely benefit you, but I caution you to prioritize a sunscreen first and research hydrating toners (google "reddit asianbeauty hydrating toners sensitive skin") and see how it could significantly help your skin.

Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish dries down quickly to a matte finish, has little to no noticeable whitecast, and hasn't pilled or broken me out once. It does have a citrus fragrance upon initial application, but it dissipates pretty quickly IMO. The only issue I had with this one was trying to get it to work with full-coverage foundations that also dried matte. Layering the two just sucked all moisture from my skin. Using light-to-medium coverage foundation works very well, though.

For context, I have very dry and sensitive skin. This sunscreen might be too drying if you live in a dry climate. I have tried Biore sunscreens but found they all pilled. Missha All-Around Safe Block Essence Sun has also worked well for me during the dry winter months or on days when my skin is just really, really dry.
