I'm personally getting this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E4OKXPU/ref=ox_ya_os_product

They had great customer support when I got the original case for the first Nexus (it didn't come with the magnet, so they shipped me a case with one attached for free). Plus, the case is stellar.

I got this moko case from amazon. Its really nice and slim.

The Moko might not be custom or "premium" but the one for the original Nexus is pretty nice. I like the carbon fiber texture, and it has a lifetime warranty. :)

Just buy the Moko case. It's $15 and feels like they should be charging twice as much. I've had one on my first gen for nearly a year without any issues ever. When I got one for my 2nd gen it was just as well put together. 4.5 star rating on Amazon with nearly 2700 reviews.

I use it daily on my 2 hr per way train ride and i love this case

Damn. I just bought 3. (You save on shipping if you buy more than one). Cost me $10.93.

Edit: Now they're a penny. Can't automatically cancel, but I sent an email and ordered them again for a penny each. Total came to like $7.99.

Edit 2: Cancelled my first order as of 2pm EDT. I also put in another order for another case at $3, so I paid $10 for 4 cases. Great deal! (Cases are back up to 99cents by the way)

Also they are offering a few other case designs. I prefer this style cover: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E4OKXPU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Then the 2013 N7 is probably your best bet. Try to find a 2013 though, it's quite an upgrade over the 2012 and not worth saving a few dollars.

My reason for the Nvidia upgrade was Gamestreaming, better controller support (I like the Shield's controller more than a DS3), slightly larger screen, etc... I'd recommend picking up this case if you get a N7. I had the same type for my 2012 and 2013 tabs.

I got one of the MoKo cases, seems great so far. It's currently going for $15 plus shipping but I preordered so it came out to under $12 after shipping.

I picked up the MoKo case; seems to work pretty well. Lots of different colors and only ~16 USD from Amazon. Adds maybe 3/8ths to 1/2 inch to the thickness when closed.

  1. I believe I know what episode is your favorite, because it too is mine! Episode 18 of Season 2, titled Brush with Greatness!
  2. My favorite character is most likely Mr. Burns, because he's so.. schemey. And skinny! HAHAH!
  3. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E4OKXPU/ Here is the item I'd like. :)
  4. If you need me, I'll be in the refrigerator.

That's actually this case with a vinyl sticker I put on myself. I got the sticker from a convention, but you can get one here as well.

Nothing beats my Moko case. This thing is insanely well made. Includes a magnet so that the Nexus 7 turns off and on whenever you open it. Completely secures the tablet in it without surrounding it all around with the case material things to six appropriately placed holders. An elastic band helps secure the case in the completely open style, where it has a similar hand hold in the back as the Snugg. And the elastic band can be used to hold the tablet in a secure stand configuration although you can set it up easily in its stand configuration without it. I don't doubt this other case is good as well, but the Moko does everything its does but better and it looks really good as well.

I bought the MoKo Slim Fit (link at bottom) and it has elasitc instead of a magnet. I am going to say that it can be cumbersome and the elastic hangs over the screen, since the bezel isn't that wide. I am not sure, however, if there are any technical (n7) considerations that need to be made, i.e. would mess with locking, etc. Would be interested in knowing.

I think the nice thing about vanilla android devices in general is that they're a nice blank slate for developers to use (as far as I understand). I'd leave the whole version part to her, but usually people will want the latest and greatest, so in this case Lollipop. To be honest, I'd leave all of the customization up to her if you're not certain. More than half the fun of owning an Android table/phone is being able to customize it yourself in every detail.

However, one thing: get her a case if you haven't done so already. I use this one. I accidentally dropped the 1st gen one on its face and shattered the screen. This case is great because it can be a stand and protects the screen pretty well. Plus, the company is amazing as they replaced mine for free and let me keep the old case when the elastic band snapped.

Sorry for rambling, but hope you figure out what you want to do. She'll love it either way I can guarantee.

I have a second gen (2013) Nexus 7 16gb Black that I might be persuaded to part with.

It is 100% mint condition, put a screen protector on it immediately after purchase, been in a case its whole life, and never dropped or abused in any way.

Hell I even have the original box kicking around. $140 shipped with the case and screen protector.

Case can be found here, http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Google-New-Nexus-Case/dp/B00E4OKXPU/

I've had this Moko for over a year and it's doing well.
