I am kinda working with some assumptions here because you aren't posting hard numbers, and I don't know your exact tax rate.
But it is looking like it would be around $34 (probably a little over) with tax give or take, and you only say around $35 without exactly how much you were charged, so probably a dollar off. Maybe. Because a little over $34 is around $35.
And I have pre-ordered thousands worth of games from Amazon and never had a pricing error. It has always been at most the price at checkout, and usually a little less.

If someone is dedicated enough to MH that they'll be able to play in original Japanese, I think they'd have already purchased the game by now.
Besides, unless someone hacks their 3DS, the Region Locking will prevent any stock 3DS from playing a Japanese region game. The rest of us have MHGenerations by now, and it's a similar price on Amazon.
Where can your order it? Amazon says the release date is july 31st.
