Not to play devils advocate, but maybe they are trying to prevent this

Oh sorry, just from looking through the recent history i found that this was one of the lowest prices for a 1080, especially one that ships to canada. I did see the Jet deal and others similar to it but this is essentially a repost of this after it came back in stock, as it was posted here before.
Things like this are constantly getting posted here at the same price so i figured why not especially since this ships to canada (through newegg, which has the same deal but converted to CAD) Here are some examples of similar deals:

For what it's worth, you can grab a 1080 FE for $649 from Amazon.

True, someone who does their research and spends the time can easily figure out a products actual performance/quality. I was more addressing how Joe Smith may be buying/building a computer for his son and sees something like [this 1080 on Amazon] (https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GTX-1080-Founders-GEFORCE/dp/B01FX2KS6U/ref=sr_1_8?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1468244495&sr=1-8&keywords=1080) (MSI Founders edition) with 2.1 out of 5 stars and thinks well all 1080s are crap. It's the major problem with allowing anyone to review a product for any reason. At least Amazon (not sure if other sites do) shows you when someone has actually purchased the product to give it a bit more validity.

It's back.

Weird as the same is happening with MSI: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FX2KS6U (1. up 2. preorder 3. gone)

DO NOT... I repeat... DO NOT buy a 1070 for $550 USD. I paid $480 + tax for my 1080 one month ago. This is much better for price point.

If those are out of stock, mow 2 yards :P

You have to add insurance, and you'll almost never have a box that exactly fits that size. You'll note the shipping weight is about 3.5 lbs for most GTX 1080's on Amazon, we assume we will be paying for 4lbs shipped.

So from NC, it will always be around $20 or so. I dont ship smartpost as I want my items to get there, USPS is by far the fastest(and most economical) for smaller cross country shipments. I use UPS ground for larger shipments that would be cheaper with UPS, though cross country ground service is slowwwwwww.

Well, they're actually out of stock on SuperBiiz right now if you click through to their site. But Amazon is selling that for the same price too: https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GTX-1080-Founders-GEFORCE/dp/B01FX2KS6U/

So, the 1080 gets about 6 fps higher, and that is the cheapest 1080 on amazon costs $700

while a Fury X gets 6fps less but costs on amazon $530, so you pay about $170 for 6 more fps in this specific game

At some point we need to have a discussion as a community about what price we use when we talk about graphics cards and equivalence & power/$.

AMD RX 480 MSRP Pricing

The AMD RX 480 reference card is MSRP'ed to retailers at

  • Any brand reference - 4GB: $199 MSRP
  • Any brand reference - 8GB: $240 New
  • XFX Overclocked- 8GB: $270 New

    (Sources: NewEggBusiness.com)

Now these MSRP selling points are not the "price" of the card, only the MSRP used for retailers. The market rate price on amazon, etc, which is controlled by supply and demand and free market pricing, is a much different story. Cards sold at MSRP are purchased and resold on the free market unless this 'arbitrage' is controlled. Currently AMD does not enforce any MAP or other price controls on stores.

    AMD RX 480 Market Pricing:

  • Any brand reference - 4GB: $? Note: Impossible to find this card for sale!
  • XFX reference - 8GB: $375 Amazon
    Amazon
  • Any brand reference, not XFX - 8GB: $325 New Amazon $375 'Used' Amazon marketplace
  • XFX OC - 8GB: $370 Amazon -

Note how the OC XFX has elevated the cost of the stock XFX card even though it is functionally the same as the Sapphire/MSI etc stock reference cards. Demand and pricing don't follow logical feature comparisons.

Let's pull in the Nvidia cards share we?

    GTX 1080

  • Any brand founders reference - GTX 1080: $699 MSRP NVIDIA
  • PNY Founders reference - GTX 1080: MSRP $699 New Amazon
  • EVGA Founders reference - GTX 1080: $830 New Amazon
  • MSI Founders reference - GTX 1080: $850 New Amazon
  • MSI GeForce GTX 1080 GAMING - OC: $775 New Amazon

    GTX 1070:

  • ASUS Founders reference - GTX 1070: $525 New Amazon
  • ASUS overclock - GTX 1070: $449 New Amazon

    GTX 1060:

  • Any brand reference - GTX 1060: $299 MSRP NVIDIA

    Conclusion:

    *edit:
If the price vs MSRP for other cards is any indication, it is reasonable to expect the 1060 to retail significantly over the $299 asking price post launch, maybe $350 or higher. Then it becomes a question of value and how the 1060 will effect the market demand for the RX 480. If the OC versions of the RX 480 are on the market and maintain the same or lower prices as currently($325-$375) then the value/$ of the RX 480 is still higher than the 1060's likely real world results.
