Photo editing needs a screen with good color accuracy so I would recommend that you push your budget a little and get the Msi Modern 14 .

I would recommend this MSI Modern 14 because it comes with everything you need, i7 10th gen core CPU which is one of the best in your budget and great for your usage, 8 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 512 GB for faster boot up and loading, so just like you asked, but also because it comes with great screen which will be a nice plus for your video editing work, and it is within your budget.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the MSI Modern 14?

Links to the 2 configurations are below. I am a student studying GIS currently and will graduate in a year and a half. I have a powerful custom built desktop PC so this would be a secondary machine for when I don't want to be tethered to my desk. Will also use it for PS4 remote play and general web browsing/video watching and the like.
