End of Evangelion is $200 on amazon. Not for a collector's edition. For the normal film.

It is out of print but that is by no means "so much." If that's too much, Rightstuf still has it for 30$, here. "So much" is selling Oreimo's limited edition set for upwards 500$, or The End of Evangelion for ~100$. If you like, even on amazon that set is being sold new for 55$. Of course, rightstuf is usually cheaper, and the provided link reflects that.

Many copies of that Neon Genesis set were produced so even though they are very recently out of print - news broke of the specific set going out of print on November 29th of last year - they aren't worth any more than they used to be worth. Also, Section23 has the license for Neon Genesis, currently.

So if you want to do it in Order first watch the original series NGE.

The ending is pretty out there (VERY meta), and doesn't answer a TON of questions. Thus a lot of fans were pissed so they made 2 movies that "re-wrote" the ending, they are Death and Rebirth and end of eva.

THEN, a bunch of years past till recently and it was decided to distill the ENTIRE series down to 3 movies and change a bunch of stuff. These movies are why the collab came along and it's basically a distilled version of the series without extra fluff and some differences in characters, story flow, etc. these are 1.11 - 2.22 - and 3.33

$141 for a single movie new? Yeah, no thanks.
