I'd say the "nice but still reasonably priced scope" range goes from 200-300 bucks, but if you're willing to consider it, check out the following stuff from Nikon.

Agree with this one. I love the glass on this, I can aim down scope with both eyes open instantly with no parallax (is this the right term - no black ring).
I preferred it over much more expensive scopes like Leopuld for ease of target acquisition.
I picked up my Buckmaster for around $150 when MidwayUSA had an awesome deal, but they are a lot higher than that usually. I would find an LGS with a good selection and check out the Nikon P223, M223, or ProStaff as well.
