Hehe. $8 for you, £25 for us. smh.

Noctua is requiring proof of a AM4 motherboard purchase to ship out a free bracket(so you'll have to wait for March 2nd before even having the bracket being shipped out): http://noctua.at/en/noctua-offers-upgrade-kits-for-amd-s-ryzen-platform-free-of-charge

Though you can buy a AM4 bracket from Noctua right now for ~$8: https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NM-AM4-Mounting-coolers-platforms/dp/B01MTEFT52/

And they also have their most popular coolers selling with the AM4 bracket as well: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Nocuta+AM4&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3ANocuta+AM4

Idk, Noctua is being pretty fair and considerate. Not really happy with other companies right now since I was contemplating buying a NZXT AIO but if their brackets aren't coming out till Mid-March then forget about it.

u/Anergos · 4 pointsr/Amd

Meanwhile Noctua gives free AM4 mounting kits for their coolers now if you provide proof of ownership of a Noctua cooler + AM4 mobo or CPU.

Or you can buy it now.

JeeperDon is right. AM4 has different hole spacing around the CPU socket. Otherwise, cooler companies would not be giving out adapter brackets... like this one - https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NM-AM4-Mounting-coolers-platforms/dp/B01MTEFT52/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1486928042&sr=8-2&keywords=noctua+am4

Streaming and playing VR at the same time is a job for the i7-8700K or the Ryzen 7 2700. If you go with Ryzen be sure to order the AM4 mounting kit for your NH-D15.

https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NM-AM4-Mounting-coolers-platforms/dp/B01MTEFT52

If you are already near 70 degrees with a delidded chip you probably won't hit 5GHz on your 3770K, it is really common to run into a voltage wall around 4.7-4.8GHz. At most you would be gaining 10% performance even if you succeeded.

u/red286 · 2 pointsr/bapccanada

What case? The Noctua NH-C14S is a pretty good low profile air cooler, though it needs the NM-AM4 kit for a Ryzen. You can mount the fan under the heatsink if your board layout doesn't have the RAM too close to the CPU, which would result in a 115mm height, or you can mount the fan on top of the heatsink, which would result in a 142mm height. If you need something even lower profile (eg - book PC style), the Noctua NH-L12S is just 70mm tall, though it's more likely to work on a Thin ITX board that uses flush-mounted SODIMMs than a regular board since if the RAM is anywhere close to it, you won't have any clearance. I wouldn't recommend the NH-L12S unless you really need that low profile of a cooler, since its performance is nowhere close to the NH-C14S.

It's not specifically mentioned in the products page of their site, even on amazon it's only up to AM3+ so it's likely to be a separate purchase (AM4 mounts / brackets).

Luckily they have it on Amazon too, the mounting kit I mean.

u/nightfoxy · 2 pointsr/buildapc

hm, back in stock on june 1st.

the cooler also, back in stock in 5 days...

u/bubblesandbattleaxes · 2 pointsr/hardwareswap

Well the manual only says AM3+ but there is this adapter for AM4 https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NM-AM4-Mounting-Coolers-Platforms/dp/B01MTEFT52/

  1. The most useful information you can give is what you're using that PC for, you didn't. I'll assume that this is gaming PC.
  2. If this is purely gaming PC, you don't need 12-core CPU, even 8-core CPU is unnecessary. Games barely use more than 6 threads\cores right now, definitely no more than 8 and i pretty sure it would be still the case in the next 5 years. But choosing between two platforms, AMD is more future-proof choice because you'll be able to upgrade it to Zen 2+ and possibly even Zen 3 eventually. I've still selected 8-core CPU because you have spare budget for it.
  3. You might need AM4 mounting bracket for your cooler, but this will be cheaper than getting new cooler anyways and it will be better than AMD stock coolers too for a small investment.
  4. X570 boards are too expensive to be considered a good choice for budget builds, PCIe 4.0 doesn't justify the price difference, definitely not for the one you've chosen. Of course, there's still some problems with Zen 2 support on B450\X470 boards but they'll be fixed in a meantime anyways. If you will not be able to update UEFI yourself with UEFI flashback just get it to nearest PC store and they'll do it for a small price.
  5. Fractal Design Mechify is a good case not doubts, but it doesn't worth 140 pounds. If you're going to spend that amount of money on the case, get NZXT H700, it's one of the best cases overall. But i recommend Phanteks P400S as good budget choice.
  6. If you want RGB RAM then get Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200MHZ, price difference doesn't justify getting 3600MHz version and 3200MHz is still pretty good for gaming, performance difference will be like 3-4% in extreme cases. If you're not inclined on RGB, i've selected 3600MHz non-RGB for the same price.
  7. For the extra budget i've selected good 1440p 144Hz gaming display and GPU capable of running it perfectly. This display doesn't have Freesync\GSync tho, but since that's already 144Hz display, latencies will be already very small with adaptive sync enabled.

price is totally wrong, though. It's like $10 in Canada, and should be $8 in US. It's also for $8 on Newegg, + shipping.

You can attach the Noctua NH-D15 and D15S with a kit they sell for 7$ in the states.

Noctua NM-AM4 Mounting Kit for Noctua CPU coolers on AMD AM4 platforms.

Also they send you a free AM4 bracket for any approved cooler manufactured by them, but it took about 21 days to get mine. [That was Germany to the US and through customs]

My Noctua arrived and I can confirm that it does not include the mounts for AM4.

I am still waiting on the mount, but it believe it is this one: https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NM-AM4-Mounting-coolers-platforms/dp/B01MTEFT52

You can get it for free directly from Noctua (http://noctua.at/en/nm-am4-mounting-kit), but it is faster via Amazon :)

u/Year2525 · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

For the CPU fan, you do need an AM4 mounting kit, as this socket was released after current CPU coolers were built. You can buy it on amazon or get it free from Noctua directly.

For the case,

  • the Enthoo Pro (full ATX) or the Pro M (mid ATX) version are both well thought-out for watercooling, with features like 3.5" bays under the PSU shroud or side mounts for SSDs allowing to free more space for watercooling equipment.
-Fractal Design's Define R5 (mid-ATX) comes with a 3 fan controller, and many elements you can remove to make way for watercooling; note that a dual loop with dedicated tank is possible, but will limit the number of HDD you can fit.
-One of the best bets for custom-loop watercooling is the Corsair 750D (full ATX) as you can re-arrange the drive bays to make room for a tank or radiator. The case is pretty big, though :)

My personal preference goes to the Enthoo Pro M, but all the linked cases (and more!) are viable for what you asked.

As for the motherboards, you can pick any with B350 or X370 chipset, the X370 being more feature-packed (always allows SLI/Crossfire though), for instance the MSI - X370 GAMING PRO CARBON supports 3200 Mhz RAM natively, has 2 M.2 slots + 6 SATA, USB type-C and 8 USB 3.1.

Edit: BTW nice build but yeah, as you mentionned I'd probably go for a 1TB NVMe SSD if you're gonna drop that much cash on SSDs anyway.

And you have time to figure out the lighting, the NZXT Hue can fit in any of the case above.

Personally I'm just waiting on an X370 motherboard and R7 1800X CPU. Currently have a RX480 (provided in list anyway) as a tie over until Vega. Also preordered the AM4 mounting kit for the NH-D15. Alternatively, you can preorder the special edition AM4 model, but I prefer the versatility of all sockets. The 1300w PSU is way overkill, but I wanted to leave myself the possiblity of a second vega years down the line to scale perf when mgpu and DX12 become more mainstream. I was also creating the possibility of water cooling. Either way, its got a 10yr warranty so should be good all the way until the tech doesn't matter anymore. Bought these all over the last week or so :)

That's because the Noctua doesn't come with the AM4 bracket for Ryzen. You'll need to add something like this to mount the cooler to your motherboard.

u/AK-Brian · 1 pointr/Amd

Noctua support is amazing. This link is for the AM4 mounting kit at Amazon (which is currently unavailable as you mentioned), and is same the kit I purchased last month in case I made the leap to Ryzen 3000, and to ensure that I didn't run into any "out of stock" situation at Noctua themselves. They go in and out of stock fairly frequently given the popularity of the new chips.

When a brand offers something for free and I buy it from them anyway, you know they've earned it!
