500 euros. that better be someone notable. or at least the national governing body course.

you will probably be alright so long as you don't try anything too stupid. small jumps. 2-3kg on Snatch and 3-5 on Clean sort of depending. having worked with some youths and beginners, i've made them jump 1 or 2 and that isn't exactly uncommon.

There used to be a sidebar with some resources but I don't see it anymore. I asked what happened to it and I'm waiting to hear back or maybe we'll sticky something.

https://shop.catalystathletics.com/collections/books/products/olympic-weightlifting-a-complete-guide-for-athletes-coaches-2nd-ed $20. No idea what that is with shipping.

half that used on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Olympic-Weightlifting-Complete-Athletes-Coaches/dp/0980011108/ref=sr_1_24?keywords=catalyst+athletics&qid=1562657286&s=gateway&sr=8-24

https://shop.catalystathletics.com/collections/books/products/olympic-weightlifting-a-complete-guide-for-athletes-coaches 140 more pages than the one above.

I thought there was a kindle version but there isnt.

https://shop.catalystathletics.com/products/olympic-weightlifting-multimedia-quickstart-guide $25 but online so shouldn't have to worry about shipping and taxes. not exactly the book

https://shop.catalystathletics.com/collections/video/products/a-video-guide-to-learning-teaching-the-olympic-lifts 90min companion to the book $30

https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Olympic-Lifting-Handbook-Fleming/dp/0692458263/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=catalyst+athletics&qid=1562657212&s=gateway&sr=8-10 tbh, I don't know anything about Wil but its $10 on kindle and Wil has made a name for himself as a coach and masters athlete

Besides that, I usually just recommend Omar and Clarence's how to Snatch, and C&J videos on youtube besides how to jerk by Cal Strength. Or Torokthiy's stuff. Everything else is sort of incomplete IMO unless you want to go through CatalystAthletics video archive but without the book, it's sort of just there and doesn't say do this, then this, then that.

My buddy/coach told me he just watched the various Chinese guys on HG and ATG and youtube and well being Asian and kind of a snob, that's all he cared about.

> how can I learn lifts like cleans, clean and jerks

Gregg Everett's book was enormously helpful for me. I've heard good things about Pendlay's DVD too but it's not in production anymore and seems hard to find.

Check if there's a crossfit gym around you with PTs that will help you learn the lifts without trying to suck you into crossfit. They'll have bumper plates and bars that spin. Not as good as a coach but hell of a lot cheaper.

Don't limit yourself to cleans though. Learn to snatch. It's fucking badass.

> are there any routines out there to get started?

Pendlay has a beginner's routine up online somewhere. All oly routines will have a similar type of format: ~2 oly lifts, priority on the first one, a squatting exercise, then assistance. Programming is a lot harder, and usually you have a coach do that for you. You'll need to do some research.

> is there likely a community for this near me?

Lol where the fuck are you?

> how can I get involved in competitions/where would I even stand?

You would probably need a coach.
