It's the second of a series, Dragonfly in Amber. The first is Outlander. They are really bizarre but really addicting - basically an English woman goes back in time in Scotland to a few years before the Jacobite/Scottish Clan uprising.
Erotic fiction plus a vibrator is excellent for Valentine's Day. In the racy-romance category, maybe Outlander by Diana Gabaldon; it's both hot and a really fun read. In the erotica category, a short-story collection is a good starting point, like this Best of 2010 collection. The Heart of Tantric Sex for both of you.
Diana Gabaldon's Lord John series. He's an offshoot character from the Outlander series that she decided to write more about. Historical fiction, if that tickles your fancy.
And thanks for posting this question - it didn't occur to me to ask. I've just been looking through the LGBT offerings on Amazon for my Kindle. Good Lord there's alot of crappy crap out there...
