You can buy a OBD scanner cheep, to reset your code if the local auto parts store won't do it for free.

When they say step 2 is "The computer must be bad", run like hell. The ECC being bad is the last thing you ever consider.

Take your car to a real mechanic, not the dealer, not a store, not a chain, but an independent shop, and have them fix it right. It's never about "getting the light turned off", it's about fixing what turned the light on. An Evap code can be as simple as a loose gas cap, but there are lots of other possibilities, none of which should cost you $800 to rectify. IDK if if a lawyer is cost effective, but never take it back there again.

So a combination of these:

Took less than five minutes to clear the VSS error code from not turning TC off.

it could be something to do with the air flow sensor or air temp sensor.. if you have it happen again you can check the computer errors that are stored and also while it is running.. i can't imagine a vacuum line costing $250 thats pretty insane unless there was no way to get to it unless you disassembled the throttle body or manifold.. AdvanceAuto can check your stored codes or you can buy a scanner on Amazon for your car for under $50 .. good thing to have I got one that was about $25 for a friend it works good enough

get the 309 has a better readout
what you need is a OBD2 reader if you want to buy it local

that should be enough.. then google your codes if it doesn't have a human readout of what the code is

you should probably have a error code stored if you say it acted up again as long as you didn't lose battery power to the computer
