Buy one of these. Scrubbing the carpet to unbunch the fibers will make it look almost new, even after years of heavy furniture sitting on it not moving - let alone a desk chair.

However if your carpet is overly shag and its fibers are actually likely to bind up the wheels, you need to put a board or plastic pad or something down.

Also have the Extended from back before they changed the logo.

A few things :

Logo scrubbed off easy with some water and a knife.

Stitching is still together over a year and a half later

It does collect dust/dead skin quite well so you will need to clean it regularly(once a month for me).
I just toss it in the tub with just enough water in it to cover it and add a bit of soap and use a handheld scrubber(like this) and it takes a few minutes to get the whole thing cleaned up and another minute or 2 of rinsing the soap out.
Toss it on the shower-curtain rail and let it hang overnight and it should be dry in the morning.

I've also put numerous holes through it(use thumb-tacks to hole it in place on my shitty walmart desk) and they've barely frayed at all around those spots.

I gotta tell you my super-effective tile and tub-cleaning technique. This is from trial and error, cleaning an apartment complex that is owned by a family member.

  • Scrub tile faces and tub with Magic Eraser, this works incredibly well
  • Use a steam cleaner on the grout lines, alternating steam and scrubbing with a brush
  • After steaming, spray all tiles and grout lines (liberally) with a household cleaner that contains bleach
  • Let the bleach cleaner set into the tiles for an hour, then re-spray.

The magic eraser cleans the tile faces immediately. After steam-scrubbing the grout and a few applications of bleach, the grout is good as new. And remember to not mix cleaning agents, especially those with bleach or ammonia.

I use a plastic bristle scrub brush like this to clean inside and out with hot water. If you let the fire die down a bit and cook over hot coals instead of full flame, you'll get less soot too.

Get a big bristled brush like this and scrub it hard, then vacuum. It's probably dried soap.

Go to the dollar store and get a plastic bristle brush like this one. I've been using the same one for years and it only cost me a dollar.

I just scrubbed a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom tile floor and it turned out amazing! Here's what I used: This grout cleaner with this amazing grout brush. Then I used a larger scrub brush like this with this tile cleaner. Anything that didn't come off with that I scraped off with a razor blade scraper like this. When I was done I sealed the grout with this. I used a small artist paint brush to apply it. The brush that comes on the bottle isn't very useful.

This may be overkill if you're just trying to get the job done, but I wanted to do the job right (and get rid of a gross odor from the old roommate) and make sure I wouldn't have to do it again for a while. I'll use my steam mop to maintain it, as the whole apartment is tile.

I just picked this up from Target the other day on a whim and it's actually far superior to my actual pad brush for cleaning my pads, especially the microfiber ones. The way the handle is shaped means I can just hang it off the side of my pad cleaning bucket as well. As far as I can tell though, any stiff nylon brush will do.

I use warm/hot water and scrub with a handled brush that looks something like this. Magic eraser will probably work as well.

Thanks! I use a brush that looks like this. I'll also hit the midsole with the brush if needed. I sanitize the outsole with a spray that I think is commercial grade--my girlfriend buys it so I'm not 100% but I'll check. Any disinfectant spray would probably work just as well tho. You just have to apply until wet and let it sit. The only reason I do that part is because I tend to sit my shoes on my bed while getting dressed.
