One gallon of coconut oil for popping popcornIntended to be used with a Paragon popcorn machineProduces golden-colored popcorn with exceptional flavor and aromaTastes just like popcorn you'd get at a movie theaterNo refrigeration required; weighs 8.25 pounds
This oil + this salt + these kernels = Movie Theater Butter. The Flavacol makes a HUGE difference.
This is what I got:

At 1/4 cup per batch, it's going to last me a while, but probably not as long as the Flavacol which will last me over 200 batches if I stick to 3/4 teaspoon.

You've just about got it. You're correct about real butter soaking the popcorn and making it soggy. However, I'd avoid Reddenbacher's oil in favor of a dedicated topping -- don't use one that serves double duty. Get one like this or this. This is actually better, because it's made from butter. You can make your own topping by making ghee.
For the popping oil, if you want the best, use coconut oil. There are butter-flavored coconut oil products like this, but even plain coconut oil from the supermarket is better than Reddenbacher oil.

This setup will last you forever, you'll get sick of popcorn before you get through any of these. You do need to season the popper, just follow the directions. Its a metal pot after all.
My personal was to store the oil in my pantry so it was cool and dark. I had to icecream scoop a giant dollop of it into a cup and microwaved it to be liquid. Then you pop the popcorn like usual.
Then I would empty the popcorn into a giant bowl. I would stir it around and use the popcorn salt for about half the time, and then used finely ground Walmart type popcorn table salt.
Do you love popcorn from the theater? 21 dollars in popcorn oils sounds stupid? Think again, so worth it!
