Parker IM rollerball sounds like a perfect fit.

Guitar picks and pens. I have a great, inexpensive pen so when my friends try it out and get jealous I just give it to them and buy a new one. Seriously though, this pen is the shizz. Cheap, writes comfortably and no smudge. It dries immediately. Looks kinda fancy too.

Rollerballs are great all-around pens, but they're pretty much just a pretty case for the replaceable cartridge. I used to sell all the fancy expensive pens (Mont Blanc, S.T. Dupont, Aurora, etc.), and the Parker cartridges are of the same quality. As far as looks go, it's not prepossessing but still classy...and doesn't look like something an 8-year-old would be carrying around. It's a pen you could comfortably use to sign an important contract, yet still feel fine jotting down a grocery list.

About 10 years ago my EDC was a $130 Cross. After I lost it, I replaced it with this and it served me well for the 5+ years I carried it...until I lost it as well. I don't EDC pens anymore, but if I did, it'd be that pen.

Here are the replacement cartridges for when you run out of ink:

If you're looking to get into fountain pens though, you should check out Waterman. They're decent and you should be able to find something around your price.

EDIT: one of the comments on there indicates that they've since modified the design and it is of slightly lower quality than the version I had. This is unfortunate as it was a GREAT pen, comparable to pens 10x more expensive. Based on the other comments there, it does still appear to be an exceptional value, so I'll still stand by my recommendation.
