That's my favorite protein! But I honestly never really tried anything else. The first time I used it, it was grainy, as you said. But then I decided to use my blender:

  • 1 Scoop of Rice Protein
  • 2 spoons of PB2 for flavor
  • 1 Banana (half if it's a big one)
  • 2 spoons of flax seed
  • 2 cups of water

    Blend. Drink. Delicious.

I'll sometimes add a 1/4 cup of oatmeal if I'm really hungry.

Edit: I grew up in a very Viet household, and the Rice Protein reminds me of one of my favorite rice cake treats. I think that's why I like it so much.

Vanilla extract
PB2
Are two things I can think of

I found this stuff, which I've been dying to try. Peanut butter is much higher in fat, and doesn't mix as well, in cold smoothies. All the reviews that talk about putting this in shakes say it tastes just like peanut butter. I think it would be awesome, with some bananas, or strawberries, or pineapples. OMNOM.

The ice cream doesn't sound especially healthy, and could be making it seem a bit thicker. I usually have a smoothie every day with a scoop of vanilla protein powder (Cytosport 100% whey), almond milk (I use Almond Breeze unsweetened vanilla), and some kind of fruit. I sometimes add a couple packets of stevia because I like it sweet.

If I do banana for my fruit, I sometimes also add some PB2 to get a peanut butter flavor without a lot of extra calories. http://www.amazon.com/Plantation-PB2-Powdered-Premium-Chocolate/dp/B0098WV8F2/ref=pd_sim_gro_7

Recently I've been using canned pumpkin puree as my "fruit" and adding a sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice. Very healthy and tasty!

What has really made my smoothie-making a breeze was getting an immersion blender, so I can toss all the ingredients in a cup and blend it in there. Also helps me to measure the ingredients based on how much space I've used up in the cup.

The chocolate is good stuff too. I really like the powdered pb since it adds minimal calories, same with the cocoa powder. I just get the Hershey's special dark powder which any supermarket should have in the baking section.

Just throw your blender bottle into a tornado after adding that stuff.

Seriously, though, try PB2 for an easily mixable peanut butter for your blender bottle shakes.

PB2! It's like peanut butter, but without as many carbs/fat.

How do you get it back to a dip-like state? Adding water just seems... no.

I was thinking something like these guys (there are also ones of nut butters)

On the flip side there is PB2

There's this sort of dehydrated peanut butter that you can get that's apparently much healthier, I bought some and honestly, in a PBJ I wouldn't know the difference. Also, maybe try substituting it with something a little better? Like none of that Jif stuff, something that's not so creamy and processed... you know, natural, no salt added, even almond butter. It's funny how these little tweaks can be made and suddenly the cravings disappear. Hmm... it's ALMOST like it was all about the salt and fat content... hmm!

Same for bread, just try picking something slightly healthier (watch especially for breads without added sugar and corn syrup, or at least with low amounts of either.) With alcohol, I can't help you, I've never been much of a drinker and saying no to it is pretty easy for me! Good luck :)

If it fits your macros it's fine.

Personally i get pretty bingy with it so i don't eat it very often.

I also bought a jar of PB2 mix 2 tbs with 1 tbs of water to create the same consistancy as regular peanut butter. It still has the same amount of carbs but a fraction of the calories.
