I had this same problem. Mostly I attribute it to a poor sleep schedule, but once I came up with this solution I didn’t have any issues waking up to the alarm regardless of when I had to get up.

Get a very loud alarm that doesn’t turn off until you turn it off (nothing that just times out and turns off)—something like this. Then get a plastic box with a lid that will fit the clock—something thin enough that you will still be able to hear the ringing very well. Drill holes in the corners of the box at angles so you can thread padlocks through each corner making you unable to open the lid. Set the clock, lock it in the box. Put the keys for the padlocks in another room. When the clock goes off you will absolutely have to get up to get the keys to then get into the box to shut off the horribly loud ringing. Best of luck but if you do this I can’t imagine that you would be able to sleep through it.

get a mechanical alarm clock, you know those ones where it hits the bell? It's loud as hell and there's no way you sleep through it. Keep it at the other end of your room to make sure you don't fall asleep after it turns off.

Here's my routine, took me 15 years to figure out what works best for me.

Make sure you have f.lux on your computer, turns the blue lights off on your computer after a certain time, iPhones have this feature too now. Helps you sleep earlier.

.

4:25 AM - iPhone alarm rings - Plays something easy on the ears (Rain + birds)
I hit close & go back to sleep

4:30 AM - iPhone alarm rings - House of cards theme
I close it out and go back to bed

4:35 AM - iPhone alarm rings - Different version of house of cards
I close it out and go back to bed

4:36 AM - Loud alarm goes off

  • This wakes my ass up, I jump up and turn it off as quickly as I can

4:40 AM - Batman theme comes on lol (Hans Zimmer version)

4:45 AM - 2nd version of Batman theme comes on

    .

I'd say anywhere from 4:30AM-4:45 i'm awake, works every time.

    .

4:50AM leave the house to go to Starbucks to buy iced coffee.
Reason - I formed an addiction that makes my body think its related to me waking up at that time. It tricks my brains to satisfy this addiction so it subordinates the need for me to sleep.

5:00AM - drinking my coffee while heading to the gym.

    6:00AM - Leave the gym.

    .

So for me I can never wake up from 7:00AM - 11:AM and I think it's because human's use to wake up before sunlight, before technology and lights (I know I read this somewhere).

I found it easier waking up before sunlight. So my tips are this.

    .

  • Wake up before sunlight (CEOs, Billionaires, Navy Seals, Heads of state do this.)

  • Form some type of addiction that influences your body to wake up (Coffee, pre-workout, etc.)

  • Gym (Gets your heart rate elevated & helps your body think you need to get up around that time)

    .

So for me I can only wake up super late like 11:AM-2:PM or super early 4:30AM, never in the middle no idea why.

damn, it's like you're me haha. my antidepressants have helped me not find cleaning the dishes to be so depressing and exhausting, but im definitely less likely to get them done without my stimulant too lol.

As for waking up in the mornings, you might want to try getting a second alarm clock! After I slept in and missed an exam a few weeks ago, I decided to look up some very good alarm clocks on amazon. Most of them were in the $30s, but this is only $13.99 so I thought I would give it a try and put it across my room to go off after (or sometimes before) my initial quieter alarm clock next to my bed. It has helped a lot! I only sleep in now I have an immense amount of accumulated sleep deprivation (usually as a result of bad study habits as opposed to insomnia because I have numerous sleeping supplements for insomnia lol).

Get an alarm clock without snooze. Force yourself to get up on time. Like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZQG30AK

I could not wake up for the longest time. My phone alarm would never wake me up.

I bought this alarm clock specifically for fajr

the sound of a real bell really startles you and wakes you up. I put it on the other side of the bedroom so I have to get up and turn it off no matter what.
