Spent a long ass time looking for everything. Here's everything I found on the first go. Will give it one more shot to find anything I missed:

I am highly satisfied with my Pebble (official site, subreddit is /r/pebble), and full disclosure this is probably going to come off as fanboyish.

Basically there are two generations of Pebbles. The Pebble and the Pebble Time:^(Amazon_Smile_links_below)

Watch | Price | Description
--- | --- | ---
OG Pebble | $50-$70 | This is the original Pebble, it's an adorably fugly watch. Black and white 5-7 day battery life, the features are more limited than later generations. It is known to have a screen tearing issue after 1-2 years of use, but Pebble will replace it no questions asked as long as it's under warranty. Standard watchband without quick release. Waterproof. Battery life 5-7 days.
Pebble Steel | $99-$130 | The "stylish" version of the original Pebble. It's highly praised for its design, is also black and white, and features are more limited than later generations. It is known to have a screen tearing issue after 1-2 years of use, but Pebble will replace it no questions asked as long as it's under warranty. Standard watchband without quick release. Waterproof. Battery life 5-7 days.
Pebble Time | $99-$120 | The "lower tier" next gen watch. At first people didn't care for the design but once they got it complaints went away. It is much thinner than the OG Pebble, it has color screen, a microphone, and the hardware is upgraded to accommodate more complex apps and watchfaces. Quick release watchband. Water resistant. Battery life 5-7 days.
Pebble Time Steel | $150-$200 | The "higher tier" next gen watch. At first people complained about the large bezel, but in person it looks gorgeous. It's the same as the PT, except the it has a battery life of 7-9 days. The increased price is for the design and slightly increased battery life.
Pebble Time Round | $150-$200 | The newest released Pebble watch. Again, people at first complained about the bezel but seem to grown fond of it. There are "skins" out there that make it look more stylish by adding numbers around it (like a standard timepiece). It's even thinner than the PT or PTS, considered to be the more fancy Pebble watch. Same stats as all the others except battery life is 1-2 days, and at first apps and watchfaces were limited due to the round design. Since then there are plenty of app options. Less water resistant than PT or PTS, mostly good for a quick shower but not a swim.
Pebble 2 | $99-129 | (Lowest price is the early bird kickstarter, highest is retail) Pebble announced a new series of watches on May 24th. The Pebble 2 is the successor to the OG Pebble: it is black and white and made with plastic, but much more elegant. The processor, storage and ram have all improved to be equivalent to the PT/PTS hardwares, so more capable apps can be installed. The screen size is the same. It now supports smartstraps, includes a microphone and heart rate monitor.
Pebble Time 2 | $179-199 | (Lowest price is the early bird kickstarter, highest is retail) The Pebble Time 2 is the successor to both the Pebble Time and Pebble Time Steel. It is made of stainless steel, has more ram and storage, better processor, and the screen is 50% bigger. This means it the bezel much smaller! It also includes support for smartstraps, has a microphone and heart rate monitor.
Pebble Core | $69-99 | (Lowest price is the early bird kickstarter, highest is retail) This little device is the first non-watch release by Pebble. It's a tiny little box with a GPS, 4gb for storage, slot for a sim card, and bluetooth. Basically it's designed for runners: the GPS lets you track your runs, you can stream Spotify, load your own offline music to it, link it to you phone and watch. It's also advertised towards developers, has an access port and runs Android 5.

For comparison, Apple Watch and Android Wear smartwatches have a brighter screen that is absolutely gorgeous, but cannot be seen outdoors as well. The screen turns off if not in use to save battery life (battery life around 12-24 hours, similar to a smartphone). They have much more functionality and fancier features, like GPS and heart rate, along with a touch screen. It's like a mini smartphone on your wrist.

Some of the reasons I highly recommend the Pebble:

  • It is cheaper than most other smartwatches, but the quality is superb. A note: the bezel on the Pebble Time is known to scratch very easily, I recommend getting a screen wrapper from gadgetwraps.
  • Uncomparable battery life. The Pebble compared to Android watches or Apple Watch is like a Kindle compared to any tablet. Battery life is 7-9 days for the Pebble Time Steel, 5-7 days for the Pebble Time, or 1-2 days for the Pebble Time Round.
  • The screen can be seen in bright light, it's something like the old gameboy screens, as well as dark (shake to enable the light, just like a normal watch)
  • It's thin, much thinner than the Android Wear watches I've tried previously. It's also more stylish, and it has quick release for the bands to change the looks. Every couple weeks I switch from metal to leather or to nato bands.
  • It has a microphone, and various apps that make use of it. You can add stuff to the Timeline (calendar inside the watch), activate Google Now, someone even made it's own little Siri type thing.
  • It tracks your steps and sleep (if you want) and syncs it with Google Fit or Apple Health. Stats are viewable within the watch or within the Pebble app.
  • The timeline is really handy. You can "pin" stuff to the future to get reminded, your Google Calendar can sync with it so you see what's up for today, weather is shown for each day. If your a sports fan then scores are shown as well.
  • Lots of apps and watchfaces, vast majority free

I think what might interest people the most is the capability for smart straps. These straps can add additional functionality to the watch by connecting new hardware in the form of a strap. My personal favorites:

(Smartstraps are supported by all Pebble watches, including the new Pebble 2 and Pebble Time 2)

  • A strap that measures your heart rate and integrates with Pebble Health (and thus Google Fit/Apple Health). Posed for release in August, 2016.
  • A strap that lets you pay for stuff without any credit card, even if your phone is not on you, and at any register. Posed for release in July, 2016.
  • A strap that has GPS and an extra battery, also integrates with Pebble Health (and thus Google Fit/Apple Health). The battery is supposed to give an extra 7 days of life to the watch. Posed for release in October, 2016.

Basically, I think of the Pebble as a normal watch with some smartphone features (replying to texts via voice or canned response, initiating texts, viewing notifications) and other bonuses (health stuff).

    Hope this helps!

I wouldn't get the Casio unless you have small wrists. If you do have small wrists though, I would rather get a Swatch.

Some bigger watches under $50, Pebble or this Armitron

For the same price as a basic Apple watch, you can buy a lower-end Garmin GPS and a Pebble smart watch and have plenty of money left over (for an HR strap or whatever).

u/Enduro_Jeff · 5 pointsr/motorcycles

I have had an excellent time using a pebble smartwatch on my handlebars. The big buttons are really easy to use with gloves on. The screen lights up for when it's night. It can display primitive GPS directions. It can show speed with certain apps. It shows incoming texts and you can set up canned text responses to respond as easy as pressing a couple buttons. I would argue it's safer then pulling over to simply communicate "be home in 20". I don't listen to music when I ride but it can control music apps too, really handy to pause or skip track if your phone is in your pocket. The battery lasts about a week. To mount, zip tie a sock, or piece of foam to your bars. Then just use the strap on the watch, mine has never come off and I frequently use it while off roading. I almost forgot, it's like an ereader screen so sunlight glare doesn't make it unreadable.

u/thisdesignup · 5 pointsr/graphic_design

Does he wear watches? As a designer who does not wear watches a watch, that only acts as a watch, would be pretty useless. That said, if hes does wear watches, is he really into technology? Something like this may be cool: http://www.amazon.com/Pebble-Smartwatch-iPhone-Android-Black/dp/B00BKEQBI0

https://getpebble.com/

Watches aside, if he is a web designer then he is likely into technology. Any cool little technology can be a fun gift. It all really depends on what he is into, you'll find graphic designers who are into all kinds of different things so it is hard to say one or the other.

Even though messaging is restricted, if you're on Verizon or att, they do let you voice reply which works pretty well. I've only had my PT for a few days and I've come to use Thaf when I'm driving or doing something else. It'll send that person a normal text but that reply will not show in your messages app, so it looks like a one way conversation. Groupon has them for cheap refurb or you can go through Amazon here and here

Classic Pebble! Super awesome and inexpensive smartwatch if you've got a smartphone. link
Also, if you have an Android, signing up for their beta program adds features similar to Android Wear, where you can reply to texts and dismiss emails using templates on the watch.

First off, many of these things are intentionally cheap, because I do tend to break and/or lose things, so... Here goes.
All have Amazon links, because that was what was easiest.

The Alcatel Watch is supposed to be released "mid-March" (so, a couple weeks from now?) and will retail at $150. It's a touchscreen which supports both Android and iOS. It's a proprietary OS with a companion phone app but apparently no 3rd-party appstore (at this time?) but it does seem to have a comprehensive array of apps preinstalled and I'm not sure what 3rd-party apps you'd really need - especially considering the price:

I recommend a Pebble smartwatch or Pebble Steel. I have one and it's awesome. The original comes in many colors, and the Steel comes in two, but the general consensus of /r/Pebble is that the Brushed Stainless Pebble Steel is better than the Black Matte version.

P.S. If you are not OP and you are just looking for something to buy, check out getpebble.com. For some reason on Amazon all the colors cost different amounts, but they are all the same cost on the official website.

u/pablohoney102 · 1 pointr/AndroidMasterRace

You can definitely get a original Pebble for £50, (not including VAT probably).

I love my Steel version of the original, and the timeline update (yours will ship with it installed) is fantastic.

I don't know how much it would take to break one, but it would easily survive a 5 ft. drop. It's sturdy. It's also waterproof--you can wear it in the shower or on the beach. I just changed my watch band last night, so they're definitely swappable!

A camera sounds neat, but I'm not ready to be making calls with my watch yet so it's not a feature for me. Basically, my opinion is calls are what phones are for.

u/FuckMeWithAHammer · 1 pointr/oneplusone

A pebble. It's an awesome complement to your smartphone and you can do a lot of cool things such as automate your house, if you have the proper equipment, and show you navigation on your wrist so you don't have to look at your phone if you are biking or driving.

There's a huge appstore so you can look at anything that may interest you such as daily tools, utilities, notification helpers, remotes, games and fitness apps. If you like to run a lot, a pebble is a must buy because you can easily see your total time, distance and pace. That's my favorite use of the pebble by far.

A cool feature I luckily haven't been able to use is send emergency texts or phone calls directly from your wrist in case of emergency and you can't access your phone.

What's everyone's thoughts on this? I'm interested in smartwatches and this is cheaper than the Galaxy Gear also.

Pink one available for £44.95.

u/Mwil89 · -6 pointsr/LAlist

The original Arctic White is selling on Amazon Prime for $260.95.

Ebay has it up for $189.

Which leads me to believe that this run of the watch is indeed not "in stock" as the website says. I had to wait quite a while for my white while my black was sent instantly.

This is for someone who wants the watch immediately, they can come by anytime and purchase it from me :)

Cheers!
