It looks like OP's friend carved it out, which is almost never the recommended solution unless you have an insane cluster of them. As a home remedy this sucks, as a doctor performed remedy it may only be slightly better than freezing them out, simply because freezing will blister like crazy on the bottom of your foot and it takes a lot of freezing to kill a plantars wart.

The suggested method is to purchase a 40% salicylic acid gelatin stick. I used Wart Stick. A podiatrist (foot doctor) will cost a ton of money and likely prescribe one of these or simply schedule a dozen sessions where he/she will apply an 80% salicylic acid drop after carving out the dead portions. This costs even more and to be honest, it hurts WAY more. So here's what I recommend.

• Cover the wart. Some say duct tape and leave it on... thats gross and can really fuck up your skin and cause it to crack. I used a bandaid or a small amount of duct tape with a toilet paper square near the site so the ointment would saturate it when a bandaid wouldn't stay put.
  
• Apply wart stick twice daily (if you feel irritated by it, you can tone it back, but no less than like once every 2 days). Leave it on until you reapply
  
• Pick any dead skin/wart away when it comes up freely. If you're tough, or just one of those people who picks at things, you might be able to pick it faster. Keep in mind if you pull up skin that isn't ready to come up, you have to apply ACID to raw skin, so it's kinda a double annoyance.
  
• Keep going a week after you think you're done. then take a break until the skin grows back. Watch the site to ensure that your footprint is unobstructed and the wart appears to be gone
  
• Wear sandals in public places with porcelain/linoleum floors.
