Nice.

Cat fountains are totally worth it if you're ever looking for a standalone version.

Our cat loves this one :

I have this model and its not very hard to clean, its made to come completely apart.

If that has a molded bottom, be careful of condensation build up underneath. I had the Drinkwell Mini fountain for my cat and tossed it when it created mildew on his food mat.

I got him this one to replace it.

I believe it depends on the cat. Some cats apparently develop some kind of acne or rash on their chin when eating and/or drinking from plastic bowls. If that's not the case for your cats then it should be fine, probably better than them not drinking enough water.
I wouldn't get the cheapest available one however because a known brand should mean that whatever plastic they say they use is the one they truly use. You may also be able to find some cheaper ceramic ones, and it is usually better than plastic, but I've only seen some over US$50

Edit: You may also want to look for stainless steel or even glass ones. For example I found a stainless steel one for US$50: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008HRJS24/
Or this one for about US$30: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B016DQU5NQ/

Overall it seems that the cheaper they are the more design flaws or quality flaws there are so if you're unsure if your cats would use a fountain you could always try a cheap plastic one and later invest in a good quality stainless steel or ceramic one.
