I'm asking this because a lot of people are saying the original cable is of bad quality, which muffles the sound a bit. Any average cable will solve this.
Not trying to sell that magic cables bullshit, but in this case it's more like a design flaw.

If you're gonna change it, tell me later if this makes some sense. I'm thinking about getting one of these someday.
My new headphones came in the mail early yesterday. 10/10, absolutely killer.
Been listening to Peals' Honey with them all day on repeat.
I'd probably recommend the Sennheiser HD 598, it's extraordinarily comfortable in the sense that it's very light and can be worn for 10+ hours without problem. The same can be said of my second recommendation, the Philips Fidelio X1. It's extraordinarily comfortable, perhaps more so than the 598's, with much more bass.
That being said, this link contains the most exhaustive list of headphones and how good they are for video games. Keep in mind that most "A" range headphones will need an amp, driving up the price.

Hey guys, I'm new around here. I just recently had my Siberia v2 die on me (one headphone has no sound), and I decided that I want to invest in an amazing pair of headphones. Also, a separate microphone recommendation would be appreciated.
Budget: Around $200, but I could be convinced to go up to $300 at the most.
Source: Desktop PC
Isolation: I don't think much, if any at all, is necessary. I use Skype when I game with friends, but as long as the sound isn't too loud I imagine it should be fine.
Type: Circumaural (Over Ear)
Past headphones: Turtle Beach X11s, Turtle Beach X31s, SteelSeries Siberia v2
Preferred Music: I listen to a lot of electronic music (some very bass heavy), a lot of drum intensive music, and a decent amount of rock. Aside from that, I'll listen to a little bit of everything but not enough to impact my decision.
Location: United States
I've been looking into getting a pair of Philips Fidelio X1 Headphones, but I'm uncertain whether it's the best idea or not. I've recently found out they're not very compliant with the ASUS Xonar DG, but I'm not sure if they're any different with the DGX, which would be the version of the sound card I would buy.
Any help is extremely appreciated! :)
Well according to the guide on the sidebar you should look at these they are "open" for gaming and have good bass for open. Never had any personal use with them so I am just going off what you said and what the reddit guide said.

Maybe look for some "semi-open" headphones to get a mix of the two or something like Grado 225e/325e? I'm currently looking for something similar so I've been researching this combo like you but my budget is smaller :(
V-Moda M100 comes to mind if you're ok with Closed.
Fidelio X1 is something to look at but I don't see the point of buying a second pair of open headphones over getting a modmic.

I have the Gold Headset as others mentioned, which work great. But my favorite setup has to be my Philips Fidelio X1 (purchased at $200, they keep rising in price now) with the V-Moda BoomPro Mic.
Most comfortable setup I've ever had and they sound great. The unfortunate thing is the port on the DS4 doesn't seem to drive sound very well, which is why I tend to use the Golds. That and the active power provides slightly better noise isolation when it comes to the mic (on PS4, not necessarily PC).
aside from iems, buds, clip ons and wings which VVV covered, the most comfortable paid i have worn is the philips fidelio X1s which have a suspension type headband, where its a super thick soft mesh headband material on a bungie than supports the headband, and then the hard lines are well above your head.
Im not sure if it would be too heavy for you or not. Also not sure if you can try before you buy (they are not cheap) Although they look similar, they are much more comfortable than akg headphones, or hifiman (imho)
I am the proud owner of a pair of Philips Fidelio X1/28 Premium Over-Ear Headphones (2013). They've been great in the almost full-year I've owned them, no complaints, but I'm thinking of finding another pair of similar quality that looks more "stylish" for when I'm out doing errands. The head band on the X1/28 is rather wide and bulky, so I need something more slim, if possible.
Sticking with Philips (or similar), can anyone recommend anything? Budget ~$250
Second question: I need a repair suggestion. The metal part connecting the band to the speakers keeps popping out, as seen here. It appears to be missing some sort of screw that's goes on the bottom of the tube. How should I fix this? The model is discontinued, but could Philips send me the screw?
Gaming headphones are a pretty weird market. None of them are actually that good for anything but games, and other headphones can usually do games better. Instead of buying a gaming headset, It's better to buy a less expensive pair of headphones that preform better and add a mic. Gaming headsets may have all sorts of cool features, but you'll find that you don't really need them once you don't have them. The most important thing for gaming headphones isn't preset EQs or bass response, it's all about having a positively massive soundstage. That's how you can get your system sounding something like a surround sound setup (although headphones just can't do the same things that speakers can at any price range). Depening on your price range, you could get the Sennheiser HD558, the Audio Techinca AD700X, the AKG Q701, or the Philips Fildelio X1. As for mics, you can get the Zalman ZM1 clip on mic, or the Antlion Modmic, if you're a fan of boom mics and quality. On top of being able to play games with them, you'll also be able to listen to your music collection rather comfortably, which is the main place where gaming headsets fall short, as they're equalized and tuned specifically for games.
I'm sorry to do a huge info dump on you, but getting a nice sounding pair of headphones doesn't just improve your games and music, it improves your life :) Eventually, you'll be more comfortable wearing them than not.
Whichever way you go, though, I hope you enjoy whatever you buy to the fullest, and most importantly, enjoy Destiny's phenominal sound design with your headphones! And if you need more suggestions, I'd be happy to help!

I run this setup 90% of the time, and it's amazing. None of the gaming branded headsets can compare.
I'm a bit of an audiophile, so I actually use the Fidelio X1's with the V MODA BoomPro Microphone. There's no kill like overkill.
To be clear though, I didn't buy them specifically for this purpose. They are just currently my go-to pair of headphones for any use.
Comfort wasn't too big of an issue when I still had my M100's. They definetly weren't as nice as my HD 555's, but not bad considering they are fairly compact. The headband was suprsisngly comfortable and the ear pads, while small, weren't that uncomfortable (for portable use at least). I will say that for extended listening at home they aren't the best, but while on the go I didn't really notice much discomfort.
I would also take a look at the Philips Fidelio X1 if you don't mind losing the portability of the M100.
I recommend what I think feels the most comfortable overall. I know too little about designing around glasses to account for them as a factor.
The kings of comfort: [Sony MDR-MA900] (http://www.amazon.com/Open-Air-Headphones-MDR-MA900-Japanese-Imports/dp/B007R99S14/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1421455302&sr=1-1&keywords=sony+ma900&pebp=1421455306138&peasin=B007R99S14), [Phillips Fidelio X1] (http://www.amazon.com/Philips-X1-28-Fidelio-Headphones/dp/B00B3QD94O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1374138669&sr=8-1&keywords=fidelio+x1), and [MrSpeakers Mad Dog] (https://mrspeakers.com/mrspeakers-mad-dog-headphones/)
The MA900 and Mad Dog fits your preference for balance best, but the Mad Dog also costs $50 more than your budget. The Fidelio X1 leans heavy toward the bass, which fits rock genres well.
these bad boys? That is pretty expensive man. Also, what advantage do they have over say, seinheiser hd 598s?
Check out /r/headphones, they have a daily purchasing help thread, and will help you get the best headphones for you for whatever price. I just splurged today with Christmas money and bought a pair! Super excited for them to arrive here.

. Feel free to ask me for advice, I might be able to help you out a little bit xD
you mean the Philips Fidelio X1 or the x1 water proof headphones?
Or this. http://www.amazon.com/Philips-X1-28-Over-Ear-Headphones/dp/B00B3QD94O/ref=pd_sim_e_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=0HN90ZFKSSMR8DFS932E
Solid choice with no complicated source requirements, good sound quality (not as great as the others that I listed that requires a setup but still better than the ones you listed before and could easily fall into the midfi range).
Budget: $100-$150 CAD
I've been looking into the G4ME Zeros has my new headset but I've heard around that they perform 10x better with a good headphone amp. Just wondering if you guys can help me out finding one.
I was originally going to go for the Fideolio X1s and a modmic, but the X1s are way too overpriced in Canada.

Thanks everyone!
Sorry, but we got to remove this as it breaks rule #13. Threads like these are better suited for subreddits like /r/headphones, /r/audiophile and /r/gamingsuggestions.
Just a quick tip from an audiophile though. The ATH-M50's are amazing (there's no doubt about that), however they aren't the best for gaming. If you're mainly going to use a pair of headphones for gaming (or just at your computer), then I recommend you check out headphones like:
I own the Beyerdynamic 770 Pro 32 Ohm Limited Edition and Philips Fidelio X1 and I can highly recommend both. I'd recommend Philips Fidelio X1 far more though, but it all comes down to personal taste and how much money you're willing to spend.
The M50's aren't a terrible choice for gaming though, so if you pick them you'll still be satisfied. In the end AKG, ATH, Sennheiser and Beyerdynamics tends to be safe and good choices.
Also the Antlion Mod Mic's are great, I can personally highly recommend them.
Also been looking around and debating between Philips X1 or Denon D600 or Sennheiser HD 598 or V-MODA Crossfade M-100 or Beyerdynamic-770-PRO-80 or Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro or ATH-AD900X
Im really leaning towards the Custom One pros since there on sale for 179.99 on ebay but are they better then Sennheiser HD 598?
Also how big is the difference between noise cancelling headphones with Open/Closed ones and would it matter with music playing?
Thank you so much for your advice :)
http://www.amazon.com/Philips-X1-28-Over-Ear-Headphones/dp/B00B3QD94O?
They're a bit more expensive, would they need an amp like the q701?
Not OP, but I have a pair of x1's and use them pretty heavily for gaming and can be kind of rough on them as I need to leave right away and drop them on the ground or desk and such, and they seem to hold up very well. Not much of an audiophile, but I used to have 598's and I find these to fit more comfortably for long periods of play compared to my 598's, and they have an extremely nice stage size (compared to the 598) for playing games like counter strike or battlefield, so you can tell exactly where people are.

I still highly recommend good headphones. Like, real ones. Good, clear and detailed audio boosts the experience the same way better graphics, higher resolutions and higher framerates make the visual experience better, except sound can be rendered to seem a whole lot more believable.
Outside of Sennheiser's gaming headsets, there are no good gaming headphones marketed as such. I've tried quite a few different brands, including the Astros (A50s) and have never really been impressed.
The Astros especially fall way short of their claims as well as failing to deliver sound on par with their asking price.
I forgot that quite a few headphones have seen recent hikes in prices, largely due to the post-beats uptake of actual quality listenting (people willing to spend more on audio, but looking for something that doesn't ruin sound the way beats do).
The audio technica ad700 have a fair MSRP for the sound they make: http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-AD700X-Audiophile-Headphones/dp/B009S332TQ
I don't really know what limitations consoles have for headsets, if you can connect a separate mic, or not. If you can, you can always get the zalman clip-on mic.
All that said: I highly, and very strongly, recommend you get good headphones. As I do for anyone interested in actually listening to quality.

Just some examples.
Sorry it took a while before I could provide this list, it took a bit longer for me since I am not very much into the bass style of headphones & music.
Ow interesting, do know which Sennheiser's exactly?
Just so I have a reference.
But we have a very high budget left over for some amazing headphones or even some great headsets (altho, there aren't a lot).
The difference between headphones & headset is that the latter got a microphone. That's all! In general this means that a headset is more focused towards "gamers". So they're often marketed and produced to give gamers "everything they need!".

So.. bass heavy headphones are often closed headphones, which means that you lose some of the sound stage, it means that the music will sound like it comes from inside your head, instead of from around you.
I absolutely love open-back headphones for this reason. They sound a lot more natural and especially for my music styles this is ideal. Those are classical, rock & metal. The instrumentals sound fairly close to what they sound like in real life and the vocals are very natural and crisp.
^(sorry.. I can't help it why he freaking used that.. guy in the video to show us what a concert is. He makes up for it a little bit later on.)
Anyway, I've had a lot of looks at some contestants for great headphones for your use.

So I list the impedance (Ohms) for a good reason. The 3 that are above the 80Ohms would benefit a lot from dedicated amplifier. The motherboard I selected got some pretty good on-board audio and a solid AMP, but a dedicated one will be a much better experience.
Now DACs (Digital to Analog Converter) & AMPs (AMPlifiers) can get expensive really quickly.
But there are also a couple of great value options out there.

Now my suggestion would probably go towards the Philips X1's. How-ever the DT880's aren't bad either, but they require an AMP.
The HE400S would be a slightly cheaper option if you exclude the AMP.
The AD900x would be my next option and then it's followed by the DT990's & HD600's.
I only included the Kingston headsets in case you don't want to spend as much money.
As for the AMP/DAC options, I really like the Fulla Schiit (yes that's really their name). But if you read the product page & FAQ, you'll see that they're no bullschiit at all.
The company was founded by 2 audio veterans who wanted to create affordable, high quality audio devices. Well they did just that.
Thanks for any help! I've been looking at the Philips Fidelio X1/28 mainly. I don't know if it fits my criteria.
Yessir!

For my home setup I go with Philips Fidelio X1's which are powered by a Schiit Modi DAC and a Schiit Magni 2 amp the quality is absolutely incredible.
For on the go I use a pair of Audio-Technica CKS55's which are pretty good for a $50 pair of ear buds.
A little off topic but, does anyone know why the Philips Fidelio X1 has gone up about $100 in price?
