I've shaved my mashers and bang/taint/funhole for years and years, so let me contribute.

So let's assume you've never blessed yourself with a shorn scrotum: There are two methods you can use to rid yourself of hair. I'll go over both, since I've done both extensively.

---

>Shaving:

USE A NEW RAZOR FOR THIS. Old razors deteriorate and the blades get bent/dulled. You don't want dull blades tugging at hairs and nicking you up down there.

  1. Trim up. Get a body-hair trimmer like a Norelco Bodygroom or just a regular hair-trimmer and take care most of the bush. Go with the shortest guard it'll allow-- Not using a guard is a good way to get a few nicks, not something you want down in your dangly bits. You want to get yourself short enough where a razor won't get caught and cut you up in masses of hair.

  2. Get in the shower, and get that bitch nice and hot. You don't want to try shaving dry, hell no. Wash your hair, brush your teeth, do all of your regular shower things to give your pubes a bit to get wet and soften up. This'll make it so much easier, trust me.

  3. Start shaving WITH the grain. Make a few passes. Don't press down on the razor, just let it do its job. You won't get it all in one go, and that's fine.

  4. Go across the grain. If your hair looks like this: |||||, shave in this ---> direction, or this <--- direction. The best would be doing a pass of each.

  5. Go against the grain. Now, at this point, if you feel smooth enough, feel free to stop. Going against the grain may cause irritation and ingrown hairs, so know your body and know how your hair responds. The biggest lesson is DO NOT PRESS DOWN ON THE RAZOR. You will only irritate your skin and nick yourself. Be patient and take your damn time.

  6. Finish the job. If you shave your dick, you must also shave your balls, otherwise you might as well just not even do it. It may be scary the first time taking a razor to your jumblies, but it's simple and quite safe, if you're careful (For the record, I've never nicked myself shaving down below, yet I can butcher my face when I'm not careful). Just take the sack in one hand and GENTLY pull it to stretch the skin, and run the razor lightly over it, front and back, starting the stroke from the underside of your dick and dragging down towards your feet. Don't bother too much with grain direction here, it won't matter that much.

  7. The Gooch/Ass/Asshole: You should also run over these areas with a hair trimmer/bodygroom before you go at it with a razor. The secret here is the same as the rest of your sensitive bits: Go slow, don't press down with the razor, and relax. The taint is tricky, but you can navigate it by feel pretty well. The ass/asshole is simple, except for the hole. If you're shaving your ass, you aren't gonna leave the hole hairy, so when you shave it, shave starting from the pucker and stroke AWAY. Do not shave ACROSS the sphincter, else you're just asking for a rough ride. Remember: DO NOT PUSH DOWN ON THE RAZOR.

For your balls, you might want to make a run over them later when you're dry. Helps get those stray hairs.

    >Post-Shave Care:

Once you get out, pat-dry the areas you've shaved. If you get razor burn, get some Vitamin E cream or moisturizer and spread a little down there. This will help the skin heal, and probably cool things off. I like to pat a little Gold Bond down there, because if I'm going to be fancy enough to shave my balls, I'm going to powder them like an English Nobleman.

Itching: This is normal if this is your first time shaving/it's been a while since you've shaved. You shouldn't itch as bad or even at all the second time around, so just tough it out.

Farts: You'd better be ready, because you can no longer sneak these fuckers. The bare skin will amplify your ass air to trumpet-like levels. Be prepared to use your flesh-valve a lot more efficiently after this.

Sweat: You might feel like your ass/gooch is a lot sweatier than usual. It's not, you just lack friction from your now-missing hair down there. Invest in some boxer-briefs if it bothers you. You get used to this as well.

    >Depilatory Creams

Alright, so now that we've covered shaving, let's discuss using chemical hair removers. I wouldn't use Nair on your private parts, you will burn yourself. You have to find something for sensitive skin (Which I'm sure Nair has now). I am a fan of Magic Shave. It's a powder you mix with water, then slather all over your crotch, wait a while, then rub off gently with a washcloth. You can get if off Amazon, or find it at most any drugstore in the shaving/hair removal aisle. Takes the hair right off and leaves you SMOOTH AS FUCK. It's messier and takes a little more time, but it's worth it in the end.

They do sell it as a pre-mixed cream, but ever time I've used it it's been very lackluster, even after leaving it on for several minutes past the recommended time.

  8. Test it somewhere like your inner thigh. Mix a small bit, put it on for the prescribed amount of time (7 or so minutes, in my case), and wash it off. Wait a day to see if there are any adverse effects. Skipping this step is not recommended, seeing as a small allergic reaction on your thigh is a lot easier to handle than one all over your fucking dick.

  9. Mix. I use a mason jar, put in equal parts of the power and water, and shake it up. The I use something like a rubber spatula to scoop it out and slather it from dick (Try to limit getting any on the glans. It won't kill you, but you don't generally want depilatory cream on sensitive membranes like that) to asshole. The more you use, the better. Be sure to place a towel under you/do this in the tub to catch any that might drip.

  10. Wait. Set a timer and just stand around a bit. Brush your teeth. Floss. I don't care, just wait out the 5-7 minutes.

  11. Hop in the shower. Lukewarm water is the best for this stuff, I'd avoid going really hot though. Grab a washcloth and slowly rub the stuff off in a circular motion while under the stream. You might have to give some hairs a gentle tug to get them out, but it shouldn't take you any real effort. You may miss spots, and that's okay, you can get them next time. You should probably have a set washcloth just for this, because Magic Shave does have a tendency to stain.

  12. Pat dry. If you left it on a little too long, it might feel somewhat like razor burn. Use some Vitamin E/Moisturizing cream on it and dial the time back a little next time.

All in all, I much prefer using Magic Shave to rid myself of hair, because it leaves me MUCH smoother and isn't as expensive as wearing razor cartridges out. Enjoy shaving, and know that your girlfriend/boyfriend will REALLY appreciate it.

EDIT: Thank you for the gold, kind soul! May your balls be eternally smooth and velvety.

First, shampoo your groin hair with the strongest shampoo you can think off. The drier and fluffier the hair down there, the easier this is going to be.

Second, use the body hair trimmer while in the shower to get all the hair everywhere as short as you possibly can without making yourself uncomfortable. If you want to start above the dick, then start there to get accustomed to how the trimmer works then work your way to all the areas you wish to tame. I also shave my gouche etc, it's up to you. This will make the next part a lot easier.

Get some water and get it boiling hot. Then let it cool until you can touch it without seriously hurting yourself. The hotter the water the better but don't burn yourself. Now take the brush and soak it with the hot water. Then swish it around in the soap until you build up a nice foamy lather.

Lather that shit on there!

Here's the most time consuming part. You want to first go with the grain, shaving wherever you are first comfortable with. You want to use as small of an angle as you possibly can, I shave with the blade almost parallel to the skin. You do NOT push hard! It's a light grazing! LIGHT GRAZING! LIGHT! You use the weight of the head of the razor that is ALLLL the pressure you need! If it isn't enough pressure, increase the angle slightly.

EVERY time you pass by with the razor, you wash the blade in the water and apply new soap with the brush until you're satisfied. This keeps the soap and hair from clogging the blades and cutting something or ripping out a hair.

Always switch sides of the razor with each pass. This ensures near uniform wearing of the edges.

After you have passed by everything going with the grain, do the same against the grain. After you've done that, I go perpendicular to the grain for a grand total of three passes. Always cleaning the blade after every stroke, always re-soaping until you're satisfied.

After you've shaved everywhere, It's supposed to take a long time! Hurrying leads to awful bloody cuts! Then you LIGHTLY apply aftershave. It will always burn some, but not as much as it normally would! You whatever aftershave you have on hand.

For the balls, stretch out the skin as much as you possibly can and DO NOT APPLY PRESSURE! The same goes for the skin on your shaft if you have hair there.

Finally, baby powder that bitch! This will ensure you stay dry and clean and fresh all day!

At first, it will itch. There's no avoiding it. After you've shaved down there maybe 6 times, the itching will reduce until you don't notice it. ALWAYS USE A FRESH RAZOR! They're like less than 8 cents a piece, that's worth not having to worry about bleeding all over the inside of your pants!

And that's how I shave.

Disclaimer: If you wish to ritualize some portion of your life, the above is wonderful and I can see how it would be very satisfying. However, If your goal is to shave your junk:

I'm with SuccumbedtoReddit, the guide reads like it was purposefully written for hipsters. What the fuck, a brush? a FUCKING BRUSH? Old-school decapitate-yourself razor?

Please, just get a decent razor like you would for say another part of your body that you do not wish to mutilate like say....ummm.. your face.

Use some warm water, you're in the fucking shower just turn the knob goddamn it.

Apply some shaving cream. No you won't make it, nor handcraft it nor pick it from the freshest cream-trees growing on the purest mountain tops. You'll go out and buy a can that reads "shaving cream" on the label. Apply cream. Fap, if the mood takes you there, as smearing warm creamy-like substances on your privates might do.

Shave. Apply some pressure. Shit, with most modern razors you can fucking hate-stab yourself with it without drawing blood. If you want to be cautious, start gently and proceed according to how much time you want to invest.

Wash it off, re-apply shaving cream, shave against the grain.

Trim the hair on the border between penis and belly, because no-one likes the "this area has been nuked from orbit" look.

Wash off, endure the itchiness for a day or two.

Play with yourself whenever and however you wish to, without the excuse that it's somehow a necessarry procedure.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You may have more nicks if you rush TOO much, but any nicks you get will be tiny and won't hurt or bleed that much. The above is more or less what I do when I'm in a rush, minus the shaving cream.

With a few essentials, most people can be attractive:

  • Eat healthy
  • Buy flattering clothes
  • Stay clean
  • Smell nice
  • Get a tan if you're not the type that looks good very white.
  • Shave back hair and maybe chest hair if it's the type that is usually unattractive
  • Be positive

This is a tough one, because I think the real "buy it for life" answer is a high quality pair of scissors. However, I don't think this is exactly what you're asking, especially re: sharp things near sensitive areas.

Depending on where you're traveling, I think any of the high quality Wahls would work, as others have suggested (don't be fooled--they make cheap models, too. These'll work much better than pretty much any off brand clippers you pick up, but are pathetic compared to the high quality versions.) Really, go to your favorite local barber (preferably someone who has been there forever, not some place at the mall that isn't buying for life themselves) and check out what they use, you can most likely get your own. The problem with plug-in trimmers is that A) they tend to be big and heavy, which isn't very fun if you're traveling light, B) you can't use them in the shower without electrocuting yourself (which comes in handy with body shaving) and C) they aren't going to help you during that week overseas without a converter.

I know no battery powered anything will ever be for life, but I think it can last much longer than many BIFLers are willing to admit, especially if you're willing to take it apart on your own. See, the thing that will most likely give out first is the rechargeable batteries. What most people don't realize is that these tend to just be standard AAA or AA rechargeables that have been soldered/taped/glued in. As long as you're willing to unleash your inner MacGyver, you can extend the life of your gadgets immensely.

So, with the disclaimer that I know it isn't truly for life, I humbly suggest the Philips Norelco BG2040 BodyGroom Pro. I've had this for ~5 years, and it does a top rate job on any hair from head to toe, at any length you choose (as long as those lengths are all less than about an inch). It's battery powered, but holds a charge a LONG time (I usually leave it sitting in the shower a month or so without charging, it's not daily use but I usually get at least a dozen or so uses before wanting to recharge). As long as you're just traveling for a week or two, I think you'd be fine without even packing the charger. It works for both wet and dry use, is about the size of a universal remote control, and only slightly heavier. Plus the lack of a cord can be really handy when you're doing that shaving yoga to get to the awkward spots of your body.

I have only my limited sample, but I can say it hasn't needed any repairs in the half decade I've been using it. Simply knowing battery powered electronics, I doubt it's really a 'for life' product. But what, exactly, is "life" for body trimmers, anyways? Do you really want to be 70 and shaving your pubes? (Apologies if you're already 70 and shaving your pubes.) I think you can buy something else that will actually last you your whole life, but it won't quite be perfect for what you want. It'll work well (Wahl has treated me well when I'm giving myself a haircut and want to kill two birds with one stone, though be careful around your wrinkly bits, those things are almost designed to make sure your beanbag bleeds like a stuck pig if you get careless), but it won't be the perfect body trimming machine that is the Philips Norelco BG2040 BodyGroom Pro. You're the one who will have to decide if they want truly for life longevity or a specialized tool that'll perform better, but only for a small chunk of your life.

Philips Bodygroom.

I've used it for quite a while with great success. Both the trimmer and foil attachment work extremely well. With the foil, you can get very close to the smoothness from a razor, without any razor burn or ingrown hairs.

It will do hard to reach areas pretty well, but a mirror (or two) helps and be sure to go over an area several times.

As a fellow "step ahead of nature" guy, like your husband, I use a Norelco BodyGroom 2040 as my "razor". Waterproof, rechargeable, and I replace the head maybe once or twice a year. It works great for other manscaping too.

Note: I have never used a razor on my head, but no one knows any different.

Philips Bodygroom Pro, best trimmer I've ever purchased, great for everything

For some reason it has two different names on US/CA Amazon:

Amazon.com

Amazon.ca

u/supersirj · 10 pointsr/islam

Philips Bodygroom is made for just this. The trick with any trimmer, though, is to stretch out the skin as much as possible to minimize any pinching by your trimmer.

u/SpagNMeatball · 9 pointsr/AskMen

Get one of these -the Norelco BodyGroomer is awesome. I used to use a cheap trimmer like you then shave with a standard face razor. I would get knicks and cuts and the hair always grew back itchy. Not with the Norelco. I have also switched razors to the gillette 5 blade and it does a much better job on the twig and berries, but the Body Groomer is the way to go.

Seriously it's like magic, I've never even nicked myself once.

My favorite review on Amazon goes "I shave my balls with one side and my face with the other. Its probably gross, and I don't care. It works well."

How many times I cut myself in a nasty way using a trimmer on a face shaver... prior....the way I did it for 5+ stupid years.

u/Qwigs · 8 pointsr/malegrooming

It is generally recommended that you use one shaver for your face and a different one for everything else.

My favorite face shaver is a Braun series 7. I prefer its straight foil because I need to trim around the edges of my beard. I tried using a multi-head round shaver from Norelco and couldn't achieve that nice straight line.

For the rest of your body hair I recommend the Philips Norelco Bodygroom It has dual heads and is safe to use on your nether regions without risk of nicks and cuts.

u/Archangelus · 7 pointsr/AskReddit

In my experience, it's really hard to cut yourself with a razor on your balls. Then again, I've never cut myself shaving and don't even use cream or a mirror (I just do it in the shower with bar soap... it works great). If you're worried, you can get one of these, which is what I use for rear trimming. Cutting yourself with that would have to be the hardest thing ever.

This. I have tried many things (shaving, nair, smaller trimmers) and have never found anything but this that I trust touching my balls (besides the females, and they don't cut well)

u/Firefoxx336 · 4 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I'm a hairy guy and at 19, I'm on that edge where some girls love chest hair and some hate it. Most aren't yet down with the general savanna my chest would become on its own, so I trim. I have a Norelco trimmer which works to cut all sorts of hair all over. I take it to the lowest setting (while leaving the guard on) and buzz my whole chest to that length. Each hair ends up being about half an inch long, which is enough to pull in those against chest hair, and enough to entice those who like it. Once you know your woman's preference you can adjust as needed. This length works well under a v-neck though. I never wore them until a few weeks ago, but it's starting to work for me.

I understand you're a hairy guy after reading some of the other comments. I have only ever met one person my age who was hairier than I am. I agree there's nothing like feeling the wind in your chest hair, but mine's so thick that my chest can't feel the wind. Trimming gives the best of both worlds!

u/btmboi · 4 pointsr/askgaybros

I use the Norelco Bodygroom PRO on the shortest setting. I lay on my back with a pillow under my upper back/neck and put my legs up in front of a mirror. This is the best way to have a steady view of that area that I've found so far. Then I pull a cheek to the side and make slow, careful swipes of the body groomer (getting more careful the closer I get to my hole). If you go slow and use the blade guard on the shortest setting, the blade shouldn't touch your skin. If you have a portable light/lamp, I suggest pointing it at your butt for extra light.

u/thinkkesho · 4 pointsr/sex

You want this. One side is for trimming and the other gets you bare skin.

u/ilovetogroweed · 3 pointsr/AskReddit
  1. I take one shower in the morning, and sometimes one at night if I don't feel clean at the end of the day.

  2. Use an electric beard trimmer. I always used to get irritation when using a hand razor, my skin is sensitive and i think the shave is too close. After I switched to the electric trimmer I don't have any problems. I use the phillips bodygroom series since you can use it on the whole body (face as well as more sensitive areas). May seem expensive but compared to razor's and refil cartridges over a year, it's actually cheaper than a blade razor: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-BG2040-34-Bodygroom-Grooming/dp/B0037HP9OA

  3. Don't mess with the body hair except for pubic region. I'm hairy too, and have tried waxing, shaving, etc - none of it works well unless you take it ALL off. And it grows back fast, so you will need to keep up on it all the time. Finally I just learned to accept it and the only body hair i trim is my pubic area - I keep it nice and under control down there, one a week maintenance.

  4. I only wear shirts once or maybe twice before washing them, I wear pants a few days and then wash them, pretty much when they start to get dirty (if you spill something on your clothes, time to go in the wash right away!). Jeans can last longer between washes, I'd say a week at most before they need a cleaning. Also, just stick with plain t-shirts or button-ups (no logos) and jeans. I have a bunch of plain black t-shirts that I wear almost every day - looks good, easy to replace, and cheap!

u/_oogle · 3 pointsr/WTF

Actually, it's this one that he's holding in the image. The one you've linked is the lower end model, the one I linked is actually much better (I've owned both).

u/WisteriaXYZ · 3 pointsr/asktransgender

I use an electric body shaver on my legs whenever they bother me. Sometimes it's after one day, sometimes it's after a week, just depends if I notice them and if they annoy me enough to do something about it. I hate using a normal razor on them because it takes way too long and I get ingrown hairs more easily. I guess my advice is do it as often as it bothers you if you have the time to do it and that a good bodyshaver definitely saves on time but you don't get as close of a shave.

u/nuckingFutz · 3 pointsr/malegrooming

It's not the cheapest option, but it's lasted me a long time and I use it everywhere except my nose. The body groomer:

>https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-Bodygroom-7100-BG2040/dp/B0037HP9OA/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 - Here's one razor I've been looking at. It seems good, but it apparently has a crummy battery.

I actually have this exact razor. The battery is fine, assuming you don't try to cover too large an area in a single session. However, if you have thick hairs like I do, you may find the cartridges getting dull much quicker than they should. I've been having trouble finding replacements lately, too, so I'll probably need to order them from Amazon or something.

u/47140 · 3 pointsr/islam

The idea is to get the hair removed, the method is not important.

Here's a handy tool. Instructions are self-evident.

Edit: Judging from OP's response, seems he's a troll. Oh well, maybe the above will help someone too shy to ask.

u/quinn_marigold · 3 pointsr/MtF
  • Soften the hairs first by taking a hot shower.
  • Use good shaving cream, not crappy gels or foams.
  • Use a good razor. You know those horribly overpriced things with five blades? Get one of those: More blades generally means less irritation.
  • Use slow, short strokes. Go with the hair if you can.
  • Be patient.

If all else fails, get a Norelco Bodygroom and use that instead. It won't get as close as a razor, but you can't cut yourself or cause any much irritation unless you're really trying. It's no faster than a razor though and the results are mediocre, so I'd really try to get used to using a razor if you can!

The metal end is gonna get rid of all body hair to the skin. Use it all over your body where you wanna shave. Also good for your asshole, crotch and balls. If you’ve never shaved before, trim your pubes low with scissors first, OR

Use the black end to trim your bush. It slides up and down so you can adjust the length, but I keep it as low as it will go.

I frequently shave my chest, legs, balls, ass, and trim my bush low. This thing is perfect.

u/thisisthegoodpart · 2 pointsr/sex

My friend runs her own boutique salon and offers body waxing services to both her female and male clientele.

Certain customers have very sensitive skin on the delicate parts of their body.

For those customers, my friend routinely uses the Seiko S-Yard ES412 Cleancut Personal Shaver.

This Japanese import shaver does the best job in getting as close as possible, but its blades and screen are engineered so well that the shaver can easily be used on the most sensitive parts of either female or male body without any danger of nicks or cuts on the skin.

She uses this shaver in tandem with Sween Body Powder, an ultra-fine grained cornstarch-based body powder, which allows the shaver to literally glide over the skin.

For men who come for the first time with a great deal of body hair, she'll first use a standard set of professional-grade electric hair clippers, like the Oster 76 Classic with its matching 00000 blade which cuts existing hair down to a 0.02 mm size, at which point the Seiko S-Yard can easily trim the remaining hair down to 0.0025 mm or less.

As others have mentioned here, you can get a decent shave with other personal area shavers like the Norelco Bodygroom Pro or the Schick Quattro Trimstyle, but if you want a consistently close yet safe shave of the genital region, the Seiko S-Yard is your best option short of using a razor.

I use a similar model and can't recommend it enough. I like the results of shaving with an actual razor better but it's easier to do with the electric razor and causes me less irritation. I have pretty sensitive skin in general so I always get a bit of razor burn when I shave with a real razor, no matter what part of my body it is.

I use one of those bodygroomers, a Philips Norelco bodygroom shaver to be specific.

http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-BG2040-34-Bodygroom/dp/B0037HP9OA
I believe it's this one, although mine might be a newer model. I'll check when I come home.

It works great both in shower and out of shower, although if you're using it for the first time I recommend using it out of shower and having your skin completely dry, especially if your ass hair is long like mine was.

If you have a bathtub, the easiest way to shave your ass is to prop your leg on the edge of the tub, get your hands between your legs and spread one of your cheeks with one hand and shave starting from near the anus (don't position the shaver directly on the hole, but a little bit to the side since there's no hair on the anus itself), be careful not to touch the anus and just shave toward the hand you're holding your cheek with.
Do the same thing for the other cheek.

It took some time at first, but after a few shaving sessions it becomes really easy and takes less than 3 minutes.

It's almost impossible to cut yourself with this thing, at least from my experience.
It also shaves really close, almost as close as a regular razor, but not close enough to nick yourself.
I use it on my testicles and the area around them, as well, and I've never cut myself.

It also helps to not be overweight or obese, of course.

Also, if your pubic hair is long and thick, like 2-3 inches long, I recommend cutting it with scissors first before using a shaver, especially the pubes above your penis which tend to be longer than on the rest of your body. Just don't let them get that long again and you're good to go.

I did try using a regular razor once and while it worked, it also made my skin a little sensitive, especially around my genitals.

u/Kolbykilla · 2 pointsr/sex

This is a god send and one of the best bangs for my buck I have spent. Its extremely easy and it doesn't cut you, plus you can flip it around and it can trim your beard.

The Norelco Body Groom

I usually go clean shaven leaving the treasure trail from my belly button to the figurative pot of gold (please excuse my overly douchey metaphors).

After I use that bad boy to trim I hit with a razor; going from pubes, to shaft, and then into the taint region.

I use this. If you try using a normal blade instead, and shave too close, you will find about 1-3 days later that your shaved areas are covered in little red bumps (ingrown hairs). Electric body groomers offer a reasonably close shave with less risk of cuts and no risk of unsightly ingrown hairs. The only downside is that it won't be a perfectly smooth outcome, but like I say: Ingrown hairs are evil.

This one.

According to my Amazon order history, I purchased it in January 2013. I don't know when exactly it started acting up, but it began holding a charge for less and less time, until it would turn off after just a few seconds. I bought a different brand in July of 2014, so generously it lasted a year and a half.

I suggest this body groomer. I shave my whole body in a few minutes. They last forever, can get wet, and work on thick hair in sensitive areas. I was a professional swimmer for years and this is what I used. Pro tip- use (dry) deodorant if you get razor burn with a regular razor and turn the shower on cold if you need things to shrink.

https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-Bodygroom-7100-BG2040/dp/B0037HP9OA

The bottom part works great for beard trimming. It's probably just slightly wider than most beard trimmers.

u/AstroHelo · 2 pointsr/asktransgender

As someone who is/was very hairy, invest in a good electric body hair trimmer. This is the one I use.

I like it because I can reach my back, and the battery lasts 'forever' after a full charge. If I use a safety razor I get red bumps and ingrown hairs everywhere. I still use a blade and shaving cream to shave my legs though, mostly because I enjoy the routine.

After about 6 months of HRT my back hair is really thin, almost nonexistant. My arm hair has thinned a lot too. I'm still waiting for my chest hair to go away, but it has softened and shortened quite a bit. Same with pubic hair. Also, it all grows veeery slowly now.

u/Jyree · 2 pointsr/sex

Phillips Body Groom. I’ve had this one for years.

The foil razor side (not the one with the guard) won’t knick if you’re careful. Like any type of shaving, go slow and develop technique to avoid cuts. It takes hair down to the skin and leaves a smooth surface.

u/HavTungWilTravl · 2 pointsr/sex

u/MooReview · 2 pointsr/shaving

or this:

https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-Multigroom-attachments-QG3330/dp/B00ARF42H0/

While both do their job well enough, they are hardly a purpose built product. Instead they aim to please by being an all-in one solution and instead of performing great in a single area they half-heartedly attack shaving, trimming, nosehair grooming etc.

You need to decide on what length of hair you want. If you want it all gone then I recommend laser hair removal. It has worked wonders on members of one side of my family whose ethinc background has endowed them with "hairy genes". They once tried to shave and trim but when hair is to be found all over grooming becomes a full time job. Not to mention if you cut it really short (rather than shave) you run the risk of the rough stubble irritating your skin. This can be a particular problem behind the scrotum and between the thighs.

If you just want to trim it to a set length then I would recommend a beard trimmer over a "body groomer", they are generally of a higher quality. Using combs of various length will help you trim your hair to the desired length. Short so it sits flat but not irritating, it's amazing how much more bare your arms will look once you knock the curl off the hair. Wahl is currently my most recommended general purpose beard trimmer. The lithium ion all in on is affordable and effective. Disregard all the extra accessories, the detail trimmer blade is stamped and blunts quickly and the less said about the nose hair trimmer the better. But the trimmer heads are ground and with proper maintenance hold their edge. The combs are a little more cumbersome than I would have liked but since you will likely be using the "stubble combs" over the "long-hair combs" this will be less of an issue since those seem to be better made.

If you want to shave then I wouldn't recommend an electric shaver for your body. The skin is generally looser on your body and "rolls up" which prevents the same shave that you will get on your face. If you want to wet shave then I would suggest trimming the hairs to a shorter length before going over them with a DE shaver.

u/o0DrWurm0o · 2 pointsr/sex

This trimmer is good for the nether regions. It's marketed at men, but I'm guessing it works just fine on ladies too.

u/thief0fhearts · 2 pointsr/asktransgender

I use an electric body shaver. Specifically http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-BG2040-BodyGroom-Pro/dp/B0037HP9OA

It's really amazing and I've never had any issues with it. I can't afford to wax right now and I hate shaving (razor burn/cuts) so this is a great alternative.

u/Creatineenanthate · 2 pointsr/bodybuilding

Use one of these to trim: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-Bodygroom-BG2040-Packaging/dp/B0037HP9OA

Then if I want to take more off I just shave.

u/nolookz · 2 pointsr/malegrooming

The BG-2040 has been quite nice. Good for use wet or dry. It has a trimmer on one side for longer hair, and then the shaver on the other side.

Not specifically familiar with the 105 or 110.

Personally, I like the newer version of the Bodygroom a whole lot more than the one you linked.

It has two ends: one for a close shave and another with an adjustable trimmer. No more dealing with the attachments of the original Bodygroom.

u/3yl · 2 pointsr/needadvice

Excellent - it would be just like my sons to use my clippers for something and then snicker afterwards. ;) My husband personally has these: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-BG2040-BodyGroom-Pro/dp/B0037HP9OA/ but it was a deal at Christmas so they were cheaper. There are definitely cheaper ones, but honestly a body groomer or body trimmer is going to be much easier to use in areas where you can't see well, and can give you a much closer shave if you want.

u/IchMagReddit · 2 pointsr/NoStupidQuestions

Lots of people do, not just women. I (male) use a phillips bodygroom. It isn't a lot of work tbh, so I suggest you give it a try if it bothers you. Or don't. I don't think anyone will care tbh.

u/iacobus42 · 2 pointsr/Velo

You can only get ingrown hairs if the hair is shaved under the skin allowing the hair follicle to get clogged. IF you get them every time, consider using an electric razor instead of a real one. I have a Norelco BodyGroom that is pretty decent. If isn't a smooth as a real shave but you are much less likely to get ingrown hairs.

Nothing beats this.

I've heard good things about Cetaphil in regards to Acne. It's what I used to use. Otherwise I really like Trader Joe's lotion. Not the round bottle but the square one.

> Electric trimmer

It should be noted that there's trimmers specifically designed for ball shaving.

u/ImFeelingDown · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

The people that are saying no and that are saying that it will hurt have most likely never tried it, or at least have never done so correctly. I've done it, and continue to do it, and it's fine. It should not hurt if used correctly. Use Nair for Men. Never leave it on for more than 15 minutes. Apply it, and set a timer right away. Once 15 minutes are up wipe it off with a warm damp washcloth in the shower and then wash away with soap and water.

I personally think that it's a lot easier to shave your balls then use Nair on them. It's really not that scary, and only takes a little bit of practice. I personally only use Nair around my ass hair, and shave my balls and shaft with a regular razor. If you want you can also keep the hair above your penis neat and trimmed short with an electric trimmer, such as the Phillips Bodygroom. This is the one I personally use, and it's worked well for me over the past few years.

u/philosopherking99 · 1 pointr/AskMen

Two things I've noticed to be miraculous:

  1. if you need to use blades (to get really really close shave), have you tried tea tree oil? It's magic. Honestly a fantastic remedy for ingrown prevention.

  2. I stopped using blades because they always irritated my skin too easily. I found God when I discoverer that this type of electric razor (body groom http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0037HP9OA?pc_redir=1414086677&robot_redir=1 ) can be used for facial hair as well. It's as good as a blade and never provokes irritation like blades or those circular like electric shavers!
u/Temp85670 · 1 pointr/normalnudes

> Would you happen to know the name of the body shaver?

Definitely: this is the one: Philips Norelco BG2040/34 Bodygroom 7100

I was mistaken about the price, though. It's $70 not $50. Sorry :-/

The "top" head cuts super close; the bottom is more like a head hair trimmer. I use the bottom head to keep my pubic hair shorter but not "shaved". That also addresses the (legitimate) concern mentioned by /u/Eeeksters about stubble/friction, so you can go shorter without being "shaved".

I have no financial interested in the product; I just love it. :)

Looking for recommendations on the best electric razor. I've had this for a few years:

https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-Bodygroom-7100-BG2040/dp/B0037HP9OA/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1525718378&sr=1-1&keywords=phillips+norelco+7100

It's great for my pubes and decent for pits/legs/chest, but it honestly leaves a ton of spots and I feel like I have to dig that shit in so deep and go over areas a shit load of times. I've also started doing my arms recently and it just doesn't get them as smooth as I'd like.

I've tried Nair and I like the results but I think it irritates my skins, as I did it yesterday on my legs and whenever I get goose bumps rn, it feels like I'm being pricked by a 1000 needles.

Am I better off just getting some 5 blade regular razor or are there electric razors that can get me smooth af? I plan on doing my entire body neck down.

u/Konquerer · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

I have a Norelco Body Groom Pro

It seems to fit your criteria almost exactly. I too like a bit of stubble left after shaving and this does it perfectly. I've had this for a little over six months now and works just as well as when I got it. It is waterproof and it can do a close, smooth shave if want it.

It's not as expensive as some high end Braun, but I'd argue that it does just as well, especially for your purposes.

u/a_dream_to_meat · 1 pointr/funny

I'm sure you're joking, mostly, and I was going to say, if you've got THAT much ass hair, I don't think I can help you. However, if you trim your man-bush down with a trimmer (I use this one), you should be fine.

u/anotherDocObVious · 1 pointr/singapore

I'd picked up the Philips Norelco Bodygroom 7100 .. and went to town today. So much hair got trimmed today. Now feeling nice and trim.

Only one "low" point .. PSA - do NOT take the body grooming tool to your wrinkly man sac .... it pulled out some skin .. there was blood..

Yikes.

Lesson learnt.

u/Rainbowbloodunicorn · 1 pointr/AskMen

I use the Philips Norelco Bodygroom and it legit does wonders especially if you get hairy down there like me.

I actually got one after watching Conan and hearing him make fun of his producer Jordan for having one. It's really helpful and I prefer it over using a razor or anything else now.

This thing is my jam for cleaning up "downstairs" http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-BG2040-34-Bodygroom/dp/B0037HP9OA

The body groom is great, easy to use and makes everything uniform for your lady/gent with different size heads for different lengths. Forget all these people saying to avoid electric, don't waste your precious time shaving everything or (eek) cutting with scissors. It doesn't catch or pull on skin and I use it on all the areas including the sack. Of course use a razor for fine details but this bad boy always gets me back to a nice clean zen pube-garden. And just to note, this thing works great even against my very coarse, thick hair.

u/perplexion · 1 pointr/sex

The Philips Bodygroom 2040 is a purchase I definitely don't regret making. It seems to be one of the better tools out there for hair management and I've been quite happy with the job it does. My girlfriend agrees.

u/Morningxafter · 1 pointr/funny

It wasn't ever really an issue as I have one of those electric razors that have the self cleaning station with the disinfectant in it. However just because it's different type of hair and it was on sale, I got one of these things:
http://smile.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-BG2040-34-Bodygroom/dp/B0037HP9OA/

My balls have never been happier, you know other than when they're being gently caressed by a lady. But no more wrinkles getting caught in the blade, or irritation, or pulling. It's worth every penny.

been using this philips norelco shaver on my body hair for years.... i love it. i do occasionally get ingrowns, so to fix that for the first 2-3 days after i "shave" i apply tend skin on the area and no problems

people complain that tend skin is expensive, but using it on my chest and stomach only after shaving for a few days (about weekly?), a 16oz bottle lasts for me, about a year.

good luck

The foil head does loose sharpness if you plan to use it, so buy some extras. For the clippers, I don't think it's replaceable? Never looked into if you can unscrew and replace it.

u/flaminglips · 1 pointr/AskReddit

u/NotJustACockPic · 1 pointr/Pegging

Consider starting with her on her back with you on top. You can back yourself onto the toy at a speed that's comfortable for you, you can hold the toy with one hand to make sure her aim is true, and she gets to watch a sexy man ride her cock.

I also remembered that depending on how hairy you are, you might need to trim the hedges around back. Even if you're using lots of lube, you can still catch hairs and believe me, you don't want that. If you already own a beard trimmer, you can use that. If you're willing to put a little money into having well-trimmed pubes, the Norelco Bodygroom Pro comes highly recommended by me. A couple extra minutes in the shower every other day keeps my balls, ass, and the area between them pretty smooth. Now, it's not as close as a razor shave, but it's pretty damn close. (if you ever wanna try shaving your man legs, this is the product to use before using a razor)

Also if you could link to the specific product(s) that you bought, I can give you some more pointers.

u/kybrarian · 1 pointr/IAmA

>any tips on how to do it yourself?
This.

u/Othello · 1 pointr/sex

I used a body trimmer once. One end is a straight up beard trimmer type thing, the other end is an electric shaver with a beard trimmer thing on either side. The shaver end tilts, and when I used it it tilted far enough down that the trimmer got me (this thing http://www.amazon.com/Philips-BG2040-34-Bodygroom-Grooming/dp/B0037HP9OA/).

See, the problem with a trimmer is that the blades don't slice like a knife or even like a scissors. They move past each other on a different plane, and can jam the skin between top and bottom. That with the motion makes it feel like it's pulling itself in further, like it's taking a bite out of you, cutting and crushing at the same time. It is so incredibly horrible.

u/collegekid9954 · 1 pointr/askgaybros

I use this to aid in my manscaping and it has proved to be great.

I had my boyfriend shave my ass before anal (i'm a bottom) and this thing made it easy. Be careful not go to short on your lags and such, it tends to look odd.

But yes, doing it on your own is hard but i've done it before so not impossible. Be warned, if you shave it will grow back prickly.

u/Scyth3 · 1 pointr/AdvancedRunning

The Norelco Bodygroom Pro makes it much easier/faster without dealing with lathering up and all. Other than that, it's a personal choice. I will do it occasionally just because it feels better. Others claim it helps keep you cooler, which I don't believe but alas to each his own.

u/raptoricus · 1 pointr/askgaybros

I've seen this guide rated pretty highly. It's written for women, but the same principles should apply.

I don't shave my bum personally, but I'll shave my balls and I just use the Norelco Bodygroom which is kinda pricey but the whole "not drawing blood" mental health boost has been worth the price. Might be more tricky to do your bum (i.e. mirrors or a very close friend are probably needed), but it should work just as well.

u/AlliePiper · 1 pointr/asktransgender

One other thing I just thought of -- have you tried an electric razor? I use a norelco body groomer for my chest, stomach, arms, and thighs since there's just too much there to deal with a regular razor. I like that model because the shaver head has a trimmer next to the shaving foil, so you can cut long hairs completely down in just one pass.

It's not as close a shave as a blade, but pretty damn close, and a lot faster/easier.

u/thekilla20 · -2 pointsr/malegrooming

When I need to look professional and keep the beard, I usually trim it down to a size 2-3 using this, even though it's made for body hair, works fantastic for facial hair.

I shave with a straight, so typically I edge off the backs of my sideburns and neck, so it doesn't look like scraggly pubic hair around my neck. Then I'll edge off the hair from my upper lip so it doesn't go over and edge the top of my mustache so it doesn't go into my nostrils and its even. It ends up looking usually like this, but a little shorter. Also if you go to that website it can help you to figure out some stuff regarding maintenance of beards.

Normally I sport a chinstrap that looks like this, but sometimes a beard is nice.
