The pilot limited is a great pen and the grip offers a lot of cushion. I have one myself and use it in conjunction with my Rotring 600 for most daily things. I often end up using the limited for
note-taking because, like you, I write with a death grip and apply a lot of pressure. I very rarely get pain when writing with it. I have used fountain pens and as much as I love them, I don't think they're the best for note-taking. These are the opinions of a CS/Math student too. Good luck finding your pen! It took me a while to find the right one for me. PM if you have any other questions!

how about the pilot g2 limited? Metal body, takes the g2 refills in 0.38, comes in many colors and is not really limited.

I scored several of these when they were on clearance at target. got them for $5 each.

There is also the G2 pro, but it is much more plastic than the limited. Go for the limited.

If your budget can stand it, take a look at the Tactile Turn Mover. It is an all metal machined pen that does not look like some of the. more industrial ones, but is built just as well. Takes the G2 and comes with the 0.38 in it. Various metal and various price points. Buy it once for life. I have the copper one and it is beautiful.

As far as clicking pens go, the Pilot G2 Limited gets my vote. The color selection is much nicer and the rubber grip is a welcome bonus.

Unfortunately, the ink in Pilot G2's takes too long to dry, so it's not lefty friendly. I'm not a lefty, I just like quick drying ink.
