Lamy 2000- piston-filler with a 14kt gold nib
Sailor 1911 Standard- a cartridge/converter pen with a 14kt gold nib available in several specialty sizes

Most of these are between $100 and $150, so you could also pick up a few inks or some paper. If I had $200 to spend right now, I would buy either a Lamy 2000 with a double broad nib (only available in Europe) or a Sailor 1911 Standard with a music nib.

How about a namiki falcon? It's stylish, writes well, a little flexible and in the future age can send it off for a flex customization. This video of it in action (keep in mind it's been modified) has captured many hearts

I see lots of comments regarding custom 74, but not so much on falcon.

Pilot Falcon with a fine soft nib is a lighting deal right now on amazon. Had to wrestle my myself to keep from buying it.

As far as I know, these are random... Are based on returns, damaged stock, overstock etc. So in this moment you can get one for 94.78 or a falcon for 87.08, please read the condition of the pen. Even then, you can buy, check it and is you are not 100% happy, free returns. Links below

Does he own a modern pen or a classy pen? Personally I'd love a Pilot Namiki Falcon with a soft fine nib (in that price range), but it's a matter of personal taste too.

The reason this pen is special for fountain pen lovers is that it has a soft nib that can give a lot of line variation with pressure.
