You want to be able to use the headset to talk on the phone, and you would also like to be able to listen to music.

I assume this is a succinct wording of what you want to do? If so, the answer is there is no good solution. I've looked for years for some thing that would allow me to do this.

There are a couple of problems: First telephone headsets sound like total garbage, even once that are rated for "HD" audio (aka 16khz mono) so the music from your pc is going to sound terrible. Second is the mixing capability (if you want to be able to be on a call and listen to music).

There are things like the Plantronics RIG which come close, but dont exactly fit the bill.

Generally the gaming headset market has a few options that allow you to use a headset for a game, and have a phone input so you can, i guess answer your cell phone simultaneously.

As you have seen - the other option is to cobble together some hacky stuff, but there is no "good" solution IMO.

Take a look at these - https://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-Stereo-Gaming-Headset-Mixer/dp/B00EUY5A7A they have an additional cable for connecting the mixer to the player of your choice, be it a phone or a bluetooth device.

I have a cheap Plantronics mixamp that I've rigged to do that exact thing. All you'll need is the mixamp and some cables that allow you to plug it into your set-up. I'm able to get sound from my PC and Xbox and can easily adjust the volumes using the mixamp on top of my desk. One of the less expensive options and works great.

You can buy it bundled with a headset here: https://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-Stereo-Gaming-Headset-Mixer/dp/B00EUY5A7A

I personally use a Plantronics Rig, as it has excellent bass and the mic is pretty good, as I play cs quite a bit in my free time. I got mine off of ebay with no mixer but basically new for 25
