Here are some ~$11 (marked down from $20) sony ps vita branded headphones. I cant recommend these enough. Ive ought 2 pair, cat chewed up the first pair.

Nice in ear buds, multiple silicon ear fittings to match your fit, AMAZING sound quality (the soundtrack to hotline miami KICKS with these buds) inline mic, sony build quality.

Ive had headphones/earbuds that cost +7x the price that didnt sound half as good. Check those earbuds out if you happen to be in the market for headphones/earbuds. They work great on my iphone, 3ds (gasp!) and everything I plug them into.

Amazing vita earbuds: ~$11, sound amazing even at 5x the price, inline mic, fit great. These are the earbuds I recommend to everyone for everything.

If you like the in-ear headset like the one that comes with the PS4, I've heard multiple people rave about the quality for price of the vita headset.

The Vita earbuds work great and have a mute button. They are only $13 on amazon:

PS Vita in-ear!

Sound quality is not bad (better than the iPhone headphones imo), microphone works great, has mute switch. You can get in-game & chat audio at the same time. Mic works well for hands-free phone calls also. Available for under $20 online.

I really wish Sony would have just swallowed the minimal cost of including these with the PS4, instead of the awful mono earbud...

I bought this headset for the PS4 and it works great. The ear buds are really great quality and my friends have told me that I sound loud and clear on chat.

u/Jrrolomon · 3 pointsr/playstation

I searched and this is the closest I could find. They are marketed for Vita, but many people on the list in said they use it daily with PS4.

Looks like they got pretty decent reviews, too.

Bought these when I first got my Vita and was really pleased with how they worked.

u/sexbobomb91 · 3 pointsr/vita

The ones that I've tried and I was really impressed with were these: http://www.amazon.com/Edition-Wireless-Headset-PlayStation-3-63089006306200/dp/B0087OZ5FG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371555012&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+pulse+wireless . I know that they are way more than 50$ but it's a good investment if you also have a PS3.

Also tried these ones and they are quite good for their price: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDRZX100-BLK-Series-Headphones/dp/B004WODP20/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1371555090&sr=8-2&keywords=sony+mdr-zx100 .

But the ones I use most of the times are the headphones from my Galaxy S3 because I find them to be the most comfortable: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-EH64AVFWE-Premium-Stereo-Headset/dp/B007C5S3AU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371555156&sr=8-1&keywords=galaxy+s3+headphones .

EDIT: and straight from the frontpage: http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Vita-In-ear-Headset/dp/B006PP3ZK6/ref=pd_sim_vg_20 . Have not tried them but the price is great for an official product.

You can buy an adapter I believe they are called the ottp adapter on Amazon by Sony Ericson. But, I friends told me that it would make noises over skype so I just ended up buying the ps vita headphones so I could use with my phone, ps vita, and ps4.

Have you looked into these?

I haven't tried the ones you linked, but have heard great things about the PS Vita in-ear headphones that work with the PS4.

Edit: you might even find it cheaper elsewhere. I did a quick lookup online.

u/DSimmon · 2 pointsr/PS4

EarBuds or EarPods?

EarBuds stated with the iPhones, but around the iPhone 5 they changed the design of them and started calling them EarPods. The wireless ones now are called AirPods.

As someone else mentioned, the Apple 3.5mm headphones use the TRRS plug standard, but apparently the newer EarPods have switched the mic and ground placements. While most devices can identify that and adapt, the DS4 doesn't so everyone else will hear a squeel noise if your mic is not muted. From my understanding the older EarBuds work, but not the newer EarPods.

Regardless, I picked up a pair of the PS Vita In-Ear Headset ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006PP3ZK6 ), and they work great for me. No one has complained about the mic either.

u/tinfoyle · 2 pointsr/PS4

I've been using either the PS Vita earbuds or the ones that came with my Samsung S7. No issues with the mic on either though the Vita earbuds def have better, deeper audio and I've been told the mic sounds a bit better on chat

Best one to get is the PS Vita headset, it's cheap (can probably find it cheaper elsewhere, swear I saw it for $25 in Walmart and I'm in Canada, land of the higher prices) and I've heard great things about it. Works with PS4 of course. http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Vita-ear-Headset/dp/B006PP3ZK6

I have the PDP Trigger Grips. Be warned, if you have a "full" screen protector (Static Cling or Water applied) it will scrunch it up unless you work really hard to either trim the water applied/static cling or some how mess with the Static Cling.

---

Some additional accessories that I find useful:

Of course, a travel case. Depending on your style pick a cloth or hard case. I personally like my official Sony Travel Pouch. It's soft and has lots of room for the Vita, headphones, extra games, and a cleaning cloth. Hard cases (Usually 3rd party) are pretty good depending which. I also have the DreamGear hard case as a more travel friendly when going to another person's house. My issue with it is that the case itself fits really snugly with the Vita where it can push on the Power button.

Official Vita Travel Pouch (9.33. Free shipping with Prime)

DreamGEAR 7 in 1 Starter Gear Hard Case (12.99 Free shipping with Prime or $25+)

---

You also want a back screen protector for the back touch panel alone. That thing is very prone to scratches.

---

Thumbstick grips are also very great for the extra grip you want. Sadly, the one I have is discontinued. So I can't really recommend a product I haven't used.

Bluecell Thumb Grips

You can certainly find others. Just read reviews. Be a smart consumer!

---

A great pair of headphones is a must if you travel a bit. I would wholeheartly recommend the official Sony Vita headphones. Great sound and cheap. Has a built in Mic but I'm not sure how good that is.

Official Sony Vita In Ear Canal headphones ($11.95)

---

A handy 2A-2.1A outlet USB charger with a spare USB Vita Cable is always nice to have around traveling.

Please Note: When purchasing additional back up battery packs or charging outlet thingies. Make sure it's 2A to 2.1A (2,000 mA to 21000 mA. not mAh**) output. The vita needs at least 1.5A output to be charged while playing or 1A while off (Very slow).

u/mpmarsee · 2 pointsr/vita

Welcome to the club. :) Really glad to hear you're loving the Vita. Tell all your friends. :)

If you dig around through this sub some, you'll find that most people (myself included) love the CTA Digital case and others like it. It's very much protective enough and does exactly what I want from it. I have had my Vita for about 7 months now and still don't have any physical game cartridges so the case only having four game slots hasn't become an issue for me at all yet.

Edit: I do also have the official Sony Vita headset and keep it in the case with my Vita all the time. It's not bulky at all and fits perfectly.

I'm kinda boring, so I don't have anything hanging from the loop on my case. If you find anything awesome, please do share. :) Hopefully that helps!

u/WhoTheFuckIsKarma · 2 pointsr/PS4

I like my Skullcandy Ink'd earbuds, both the audio and the microphone sound great.

Also, I understand a lot of people like and recommend Sony's PSVita earbuds as well.

u/emuchop · 1 pointr/PS4

you'll want a second controller with a stand-alone charger like this: http://amzn.com/B00ENFVJJO. battery life is super short on PS4 controller and this will help him play if he forgets to charge one controller.

second: you'll want to replace the stock headset with something affordable like this: http://amzn.com/B006PP3ZK6 headset that comes with ps4 is not good. not good at all.

third: give him subscription to PS+. it is a similar service to xbox subscription. it will allow him to play online.

sounds like your kid likes sports games. Playstation has the single best baseball game ever made called "MLB the show" keep an eye out for it. it is very very good game. even many non-sports game players play it.

Believe it or not, the Sony PS Vita earbuds by Sony. They sound better than my $100 Beats by Dre buds, the microphone works with Android, they come with a couple different sizes of tips, look around and you can find them for less than $19.99. I just got my Vita a month ago. This is what I have so far:

FFX HD

FFX-2 HD

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions

Street Fighter 3 Alpha

Mortal Kombat: Unchained (It was $1.24 on the PSN Store)

Rayman Legends

Madden NFL 13

Twisted Metal 2

Dragon's Crown

Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational

Wipeout 2048

God of War: Ghost of Sparta

Dragon Ball Z: BOZ

Rogue Legacy (free with PS+)

CounterSpy (free with PS+)

Ys: Memories of Celceta

They are all pretty solid, I don't dislike any one of them. So far I have been having a blast with Dragon's Crown, and just got Ys.

My Wishlist includes:

Capcom vs Marvel 3

Mortal Kombat (the new one)

Diseaga 4

Persona 4 Golden

Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

As far as accessories, I went nuts. I have the following stuff, and again, I don't regret a single purchase so far:

Butterfox Double Compartment Carry Case

Nyko Power Grip for PS Vita

PlayStation Vita In-ear Headset

32GB PlayStation Vita Memory Card

ArmorSuit MilitaryShield - Playstation Vita Slim

Happy playing!

It happens to me too, but also my apple ones. I will say that the Apple ones last longer than the other ones though. I think they're just made better.

I've had to get my EarPods replaced 3 times.

Dozens of earphones (Sony, JVC, JBuds, Phillips, skullcandy, and others) always the left. Except for ONE time. One.

It happened with my Nexus 4 as well, so I don't think it's an Apple conspiracy.

Honestly, I think it's because I'm sleeping on them and I tend to sleep on my left ear.

I will say though, my newest pair is the Sony PS Vita official earbuds, and they have lasted since New Years with no problems. They were 9 bucks on Amazon when I bought them.

I have this one that I plug my headphones into. It's perfect and I bought it for like $3. It's sold out on amazon but I think there's a link to the black version somewhere on the page.

I have heard that the ps vita headphones are awesome.

u/vejal · 1 pointr/PS4
u/Kain292 · 1 pointr/PS4

These ones, yeah. I love the sound quality of them. The only issue I have is that the speaker part on my left one has popped out on both pairs I've owned. In it's defence, I stepped on the earbud in both cases.

u/trialmonkey · 1 pointr/battlefield_one

I've used these:
https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Vita-ear-Headset/dp/B006PP3ZK6
They work well enough and plug directly into the controller. I had trouble with people hearing me through the mic though...
Or you could get these:
https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Silver-Wired-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00NE5D4SS/
They have decent sound/mic and work great with PS4. Also, it's one plug into the USB port. Some of the other suggestions have what look like odd setups with a mic/sound splitter that goes into the controller and a USB that goes into the PS4 which just looks like a mess.

I do agree with other posters here that suggest to spend $$ on good headphones that will last. I've had enough cheap ones in the past that didn't last very long, or had slightly subpar sound, etc.. There is a motto I try to follow "Buy it nice or buy it twice". Every time I get something cheap and it ends up breaking or otherwise a pain I have to remember my own motto and shake my head.

u/Khamey · 1 pointr/PS4

There are a ton of android phone earbuds that can plug into both a DS4 and PC audio/mic combo jack. Many people are quite fond of these. If your computer doesn't have the combo jack, you can just buy a cheap splitter as well.

Astro A30 - They are wicked comfortable and they sound amazing. If I'm not using those I'll use Skullcandy Ink'd 2 or the newer style Apple earbuds. I want to get the official PS Vita buds, I've heard good things about them and they are pretty decently priced too.

There aren't any solid solutions that will be both device agnostic and inexpensive, unfortunately. If you end up sticking with the X360, my favorite has been the XBox 360 Wireless Headset. Alternatively I had an extra set of Plantronics M Series earloop and eartips that I stuck onto the 'set and I find them to be much more comfortable / better at remaining in place. In all, with the optional kit, can run you from $25-$40 (sometimes you'll find a dirt cheap sale on the communicators somewhere, especially for like the MW3 edition). Personally I wouldn't go any higher in cost for an X360 solution, unless you go full-blown with an Astro Mixamp Pro and a favorite, high quality headset (expect to spend anywhere from $200-$500 altogether, or higher if you go really nuts).

A solid, dollar for dollar, PC / PS4 solution would be to get the SteelSeries v2 paired with an adapter like this ($60-$80 solution, depending). The DS4 has a 3.5mm jack that will support in-game sound as well as chat. The downside to it is it's a little underpowered. A lot of people don't have issues with it, but I'm rather picky. Thankfully the SteelSeries v2 only has a 32 Ohm impedance and an accompanying low-ish sensitivity level. So they don't take much to drive, but still -- to me the sounds for anything on the DS4 are a little muddy. To forego it, you would need to spend a little more money. Next step up, which works great for the PS4, would be the Sony Wireless Gold for around $80, but while it's a great solution for the PS4 I find it subpar on the PC. To get better sound out of the PS4 you would have to go the Astro Mixamp Pro route.

For PS4 you could also go the opposite direction in pricing and get the $12 PS Vita Earbuds and just shove those in the DS4 jack. While still an inline mic (will be picking up a lot of ambient noise) these are far better than what you can get out of the packaged earbud / mic with the PS4. If your soundcard doesn't support mic input via the headphone jack and only has the separate 3.5mm, can always use another adapter that goes in the reverse. Or just simply save up for a different headset for PC.

u/deadlikeoscar · 1 pointr/PS4

I use this one which is a mix of both that you described. Both sides with earbuds and a mic. It works for the PS4 too. The price on Amazon is a little expensive, but it might be cheaper on eBay for maybe about $20. This once lasted a long time for me, and the mic seems good. One of my friends used a $10ish Skull Candy with mic, and it seems to last quite a while too. Those two are what I think are the best earbud ones.

I use these: http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Vita-In-ear-Headset/dp/B006PP3ZK6

I swapped from the stock one because it kept falling out of my ear, the earbuds are comfortable, I only use one as chat only comes through one ear, the other I just looped up. They have a mute switch too.

I only paid £8 for mine ($12-14 or so?) when on sale last year. I looked them up on camelcamelcamel.com and it seems that the current price ($26.99) is a third party taking the mickey, recent price from amazon themselves has been $12. Gamestop want $14 http://www.gamestop.com/ps-vita/accessories/playstation-vita-in-ear-headset/98468

Note: Although iphone headphones work they have some sort of issue (grounding?) which causes a rather irritating whine for other people in the party chat.
