I am quite familiar with post-hardcore and I agree with you to an extent, but if you were to split hardcore into its various extensions like post-hardcore, post-punk, emocore and eventually emo it'd be an entirely different map. You could really construct an entire other picture based on the influences of Sex Pistols/Ramones/Minor Threat/Fugazi/Rites of Spring/Jawbreaker. But it's a generalization - people have written whole books on the subject of just post-hardcore's influence (highly recommended)
