Sport Type: Weightlifting
Power Rack, oly bar, weights, bench. All you need right there.
Basically the same power rack my gym has.
Decent bench
Quality bar and enough weight to keep you busy for a couple months.
You can probably find some of this on CL for dirt cheap though. Especially the bar and weights since they are a PIA to move.
I bought this set to start. The bar isn't the best, but it is just fine starting out. Rated to 300lbs, so keep that in mind if you're already beyond that in any area.
As far as bench, I bought this guy (currently unavailable on Amazon): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000R11G2I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Holds up to 600lbs, sturdy and can incline/decline. No complaints from me.
You're best off getting a power cage, adjustable bench, and olympic barbell and weight set. You can (and should) probably find all these things on craigslist where they will be cheaper, especially the weights.
Get one of these and you can add a LOT of muscle excersices to your routine.
Flat, incline, decline bench. Flies, Skull Crushers, etc.
If you are into the DVD routine kind of thing... A lot of people will mix the insanity DVD's with the weight lifting DVD's from P90X. From what I've read, that the insantiy is much more advanced on the Cardio side of the workouts and they like the HIIT aspect of Insanity. But want to keep the weight/strength so they add in the P90x weight workouts. Here is one example that I found real quick
Here is another
doing this now since i'm tired of the packed gym around here with only 1 squat rack....
Total was $863 in my spare bedroom. At $62 per month at my local gym this will be paid off in 14 months.
Although I may be looking for some kind of treadmill / elliptical for the girlfriend, I'm pretty happy with the price. If you put some effort into it you could find better deals on used equipment.
Does anyone have a collapsible bench they would recommend? I'm looking at this one
I would love for it to fold up flat so it doesn't take up space in my living room
I have the Powerline PFID125X. It'll do all of the things you mentioned. I'll add the amazon link to it but you can also get it from eBay for less with free shipping and no taxes depending on your state. I ended up buying it on eBay and it's been great.
