I have but one complaint with car seat anchors in the GLI. It's rather difficult to make the top anchor secure enough to feel safe because it's too close. I finally got it by pulling the top strap down and under the lower anchor strap, and using that as leverage.

The seat brand is Evenflo, and it's a convertible. As soon as my kid hits the right weight, it'll get changed into a booster. Also, get yourself one of those car seat mats. I have this one from Prince Lionheart and it protects the seats really well.

This a thousand times over. It catches everything and doesn't leave a huge dent in leather. Got 4 of those and we love em.
Check out these comments on another seat protector. All vendors have comments like these but some products, usually with fewer than 20 reviews, don't have these comments. So, I'm just going to go for it and see how it works in person. :)
not sure of the carrier, but the base is WAYYYY too loose. it should be tight to the point where you can shake the base and the entire car is moving along with it. if youre worried about the leather of the car, get a car seat protector (i personally have a prince lionheart that has worked with great results).
if you’ve tried tightening it down with the LATCH and it still isnt secure enough, use the seat belt instead (my preferred method and safer/stronger than LATCH as well).
best method of installation is to literally stand on top of the base, push down with your legs (with your upper torso against the back of the front seat or the roof of car) and tighten like a motherfucker. a second pair of hands always helps as well.
