I picked this up for now. I also preordered the one from Pad and Quill bc of the 30 day return policy. Im pretty happy with the Apple Smart Cover. It's adequate for me when I bring my whole backpack to school.

Fits ok, there is a tiny bit of space but it doesn't move around. There is also a loop in there to hold the pen, but I don't have a pen so can't comment on the fit.
Quality is just alright...Not amazing, not horrible.

I have this one for the 9.7 and it looks like real leather and has thus held up really well in what I'd say is a pretty grueling travel schedule the last few months. Looks like the company makes one for the 12.9 too. Pretty cheap.
This one is pretty good. It can hold a 12.9 with the Apple Smart Keyboard folio case and the pencil. It’s a little rigid.
