I scanned it a bit in the bookstore and came to the same conclusion. It looks like it's really good for if you've coded in another .NET language or aren't familiar with the new functionality of later C# languages.

I ended up picking up Professional C# 5.0 and .NET 4.5.1 which seems beginner friendly but also extremely in depth.
