We don't 'destroy' a projection so much as withdraw it, through increased consciousness of it, from the 'object' upon whom it is cast, reclaiming it by recognising it as a feature of our own self in an integrated sense.

The procedure is long, requiring work of a different kind, an exercise of affect attention, experiencing and observing phenomena of the unconscious, becoming receptive and engaged in a 'conversation' with these, oriented towards conscious interpretation and integration.

Keeping a journal, making observations of phenomena that happen internally<>externally, keeping track of and recording dreams, learning how to read ones own dream symbols, is a start. Jungian active imagination is another approach towards this process and aim.

Alternatively, seeking out a therapist to engage this development in the context of a therapeutic alliance can also help, particularly when it comes to tackling transference.

This book gathers together Jung's extant (as far as I know), writings on the method of active imagination. In another, Marie-Louise Von Franz deals with the subject of 'projection recollection'.

I know this isn't strictly buddhist but this book is probably really good regarding this subject.
