That is a special Apple SSD, unfortunely no normal M.2/mSATA works.

I see that that is either a 2012 or a early 2013 15', and because of that the adapter @jacobstep linked won't work :(

You need something like this:

mSATA: https://www.amazon.com/QNINE-Adapter-MacBook-Replacement-Converter/dp/B01LXLU3A9

M.2: https://www.ebay.com/itm/B-M-key-M-2-NGFF-SSD-Adapter-Card-for-MacBook-Pro-15-A1398-2012-Early-2013/233271180346?hash=item36500bbc3a:g:rvIAAOSwiTNdE-ry

if i find the damn screwdriver for the backplate I will. nope, fit completely fine. I used this adapter here and it went in without a problem.

Hi! The option you mentioned will NOT work...

All Retina Mid-2012 - Early 2013 will need an adapter like this: https://www.amazon.com/QNINE-Adapter-MacBook-Replacement-Converter/dp/B01LXLU3A9

You can also only use M.2 SATA drives, like the M.2 860 Evo: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-500GB-SATA-Internal-MZ-N6E500BW/dp/B078218TWQ

Good luck!
