I went around for a couple months telling people I was 気が立っている when what I really meant to say was 楽しみにしている because I made the mistake of trusting this dictionary's E->J translation for the word "excited." Finally one of my Japanese friends was like "are you trying to say that you're angry or something ...?"
Edit: oh also once recently I meant to tell a client that I was going to run ahead but accidentally said 先走り ("precum") and immediately wanted to commit seppuku afterward. I should have just let it go and let her think "ah well he's not a native speaker" but I stupidly corrected myself so I'm sure she was thinking "what the fuck kind of pervert"
That would be very useful. I might get Rosetta stone, just so I know something, and of course while I'm there I will have one of these with me at all times.
