My most recent gaming mice are the Logitech G400, which has the advantages of solid construction and a nice heft:

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Optical-Gaming-High-Precision-910-002277/dp/B0055QZ216

http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/g400s-optical-gaming-mouse

And the Razer Deathadder, which I'm almost positive is the 2013 edition:

http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice/razer-deathadder

http://www.amazon.com/Razer-DeathAdder-Essential-Ergonomic-RZ01-00840100-R3U1/dp/B00AAS888S

In general Razer and Logitech both make a solid mouse, and since it sounds like you're already a happy Razer customer, I wouldn't hesitate much to go with the DA 2013. If you did hesitate, I've been salivating just a little over Zowie mice:

http://www.zowiegear.com/index.php?i=products&p=1

I haven't actually gamed with one and can't personally comment on their performance, but you should at least take a look. They're apparently designed with Counter-Strike and Starcraft especially in mind, if those games are your thing.

Edit: Forgot to mention the G500, which can be generally thought of as a single step upgrade from the G400 in quality and price:

http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/g500s-laser-gaming-mouse

If you're looking at the 400, make sure to consider the 500 as well.

As a former Naga user, the extra macro keys on the G600 might interest you:

http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/g600-mmo-gaming-mouse

edit2: This is all assuming you want to move on fron the Razer Naga. They still sell it; in fact, they sell multiple versions. If it made you happy, there's nothing stopping you from just buying another one.

A few suggestions:

  • Decent mid range CPU Cooler either big block or water like this one. Reduced system noise under load and improved overclocking / turbo boost frequencies if your CPU has those features.

  • Small / cheap SSD to boot from i.e. something like this. Enough space for Windows + 1 or 2 decent sized games, although $/GB ratio isn't great.

  • RAM. Even with the inflated prices RAM is going for at the moment a decent 8GB set like this one can be had for $65 and will give a bit of breathing room if you are currently on 4GB or less.

  • A decent keyboard or mouse ... Razer happen to make decent models in both cases at the price point but obviously alternatives from Logitech, Steelseries etc are equally worth considering.

  • A combo USB 3.0 / SATA 6 PCI-E card like this if you have an old motherboard without those interfaces and want to extend its lifespan

    Things not to buy:

  • Graphics card (unless building a HTPC)
  • CPU
  • New motherboard with an old socket
  • Hard Drive

Reason being is that in these cases the performance / capacity / longevity (delete where appropriate) of parts in this price range is severely impaired compared to spending $100 ... for half the money you get way more than half the product. In almost all cases, if replacing an existing component parts bought at this price will not be a worthy upgrade unless you are upgrading the MIR space station...

Since you didn't say, I'm going to assume you're a palm gripper...and just in case (since some people get it mixed up), low sens = using a lot of mouse movement to turn around, whereas high sens = just needs a few inches to do a 360.

Mice:

  • Razer Deathadder 2013 ($57): I haven't seen anything negative about this mouse's sensor, only praise...I'm assuming it's another Deathadder with a flawless sensor. You can't beat the Deathadder in design/ergonomics if you're a palm gripper - it has . Downside is having to use Synapse 2.0 drivers which I have heard are a pain in the ass...haven't used them myself though. Also, I feel that the braided cable is a downside too since it is much heavier and rigid than non-braided.

  • Zowie EC1 eVo ($62): (Just got mine yesterday, I've used the Mamba (wireless Deathadder) for quite a while before this) Huge mouse feet for dat glide, non-braided cable, mouse is so freaking light that it feels wireless (especially with a cable bungee), absolutely no drivers - you just hold down certain buttons while plugging in the USB if you want to change settings. Flawless sensor and great for low sens gaming due to its lightness and optical sensor. Oh yeah, and it comes with a spare pair of mice feet, how can ya not love that?

A wireless Mamba is gunna set you back $105 for the mouse alone, so I don't suggest that, even though this mouse has served me well.

    Keyboards:

At that price ($110) for that Cooler Master board, it's just not worth it. Leopold is a better choice at that price range. Don't get me wrong, CM makes good stuff, but their niche is in the sub $70 range...that's when they are really good buys, but you'd have to wait for a sale, and who knows when the next one would be.

  • Leopold: Mechanical keyboards are absolutely worth it and these guys make some of the best keyboards on the market (in our price range). You're going to have to decide what switches you want though. I went with red, they are incredibly light, but if I got to choose again I'd probably go with blacks (they are a little heavier to press). It all depends on what you mostly do...gaming or typing? If you type more than game then you'd probably be better off with browns or blues. These things are built like tanks though, really sturdy and heavy, also it's nice that there is a groove to route the cable to the left or right on the back, if you need that. This keyboard will literally last you forever.

    Mousepad:

  • SteelSeries Qck Heavy ($21) or Qck+ ($17): The most popular low-sens mousepads around. The Heavy has a 6mm thickness and is good if your desk has an uneven surface. The Qck+ is just a skinny version of the same thing at 2mm thickness. I have a Qck+ but looking to buy a Heavy just because I want something thicker; the Qck+ does its job very well though. Btw, the Zowie glides amazingly on this pad.

  • Xtrac Ripper XXL ($30): If you want something ungodly in size so that you can put your keyboard and mouse on it, then look no further than this desk pad.

I don't know how you feel about cable drag, but it makes me want to do terrible things to innocent creatures. I mentioned earlier that I am using a mouse bungee ($17) from Razer and it works well enough. The Zowie's cable is a bit too thick to fit in the last clip closest to the base, but it fits in the other two just fine and does its job of no-drag. But, if you've got enough space for the cable to stretch out...Zowie's cable is so light that you might not feel it anyway.

I went as close to the budget as I could/went over it a bit (depending on what you choose). If you're going to be dropping this much money on peripherals then you might as well get the best that will last you for years to come.

Let me know if there is anything else...

u/Nicoaardappel · 5 pointsr/buildapc

IMO I personally like the deathadder. http://www.amazon.com/Razer-DeathAdder-Ergonomic-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B00AAS888S
But I would go by what games you mostly play and look at reviews. Because obviously not everyone would like this mouse. BTW I play a lot of fps games.

u/M1ndl355 · 5 pointsr/MouseReview

Finding a mouse at that price point with a flawless sensor is kind of tricky. The EVGA x3 or x5 is very competitively priced at this moment, but it is a little smaller and more shaped like an abyssus. The Havit 1200 has a "flawless" sensor, but I have not used this exact model so I can't speak of the sensor implementation and build quality, and the same can be said of the Talentech Shadow2 & GranVela M639. But, in all honesty those are chinese OEM mice so they might not be worthwhile. My vote is the Evga x3 or the x5, the size isn't that bad just be sure to not accidentally purchase the L (laser) options.

So to answer your question, I don't see any decent mice with that exact shape for that price. Ergonomics, "Flawless" Sensor, Under $30; choose two.

That being said I've seen the deathadder on sale for a little over $30 recently. Even a newegg retailer has one currently listed at $40, Amazon has one for $45, and I've seen them on sale at my local walmart & local Target for around $35.

Could just be cause the mouse is 5 years old,

Here’s an amazon link for the updated DeathAdder they put out last year - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AAS888S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_DxeQAbS51A5XD ($40)

I have the elite and personally argue it’s well worth the extra $17 - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LXC1QL0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_JzeQAb3SKQBJD ($57)

It depends what games you play. If you play FPS, I would recommend a mouse that has 500-1000 Polling rate. Polling rate is basically the delay between your mice and monitor. This delay is measured in milliseconds. Resources: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mouse_Polling_Rate
https://www.google.com/#q=what+is+polling+rate

If you are worrying about DPI, it is just a measurement of sensitivity the mice has.
DPI: Dots per inch

I would recommend there being the smallest delay between your mouse and monitor in FPS games.

In a scientific point of view, when you move your mouse with 250 polling rate, it will take 4 ms (milliseconds) to input that into your computer. This delay may limit your actual ability to aim by, essentially, four milliseconds.
Not only that, right after your mouse sends this input, now your monitor has to refresh and display this input for you. Low response time monitors help greatly to this because it simply lowers the delay.
My mouse @ 400 DPI and 1000 polling rate with Razer Synapse 2.0: http://www.amazon.com/Razer-DeathAdder-Ergonomic-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B00AAS888S/
My monitor @ 144 Hz 1ms: http://www.amazon.com/VG248QE-24-Inch-Screen-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B00B2HH7G0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1395300419&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+vg248qe

Awesome mouse. Depends on the games he plays though. If he likes mmo games he might be more interested in a Naga

u/Indyre · 2 pointsr/pathofexile

I was using the razer deathadder for close to 6years up until i stopped gaming on PC. It felt great throughout WoW, CS, TF2. Really smooth and precise. I’m sure theres other great or even better mice but the one mouse i bought lasted way longer than I expected and it never had issues.

u/perfectd3 · 2 pointsr/gamingpc

If you don't mind testing out Steelseries' new lines, I used the Kana for about a year before I switched over to the Razer Deathadder 13. Before either, I was using a ThermalTake Black mouse. I have larger hands, and the smallest mouse out of the three had to have been the Kana. My favorite out of the three has to be the Deathadder, but that's mainly because it's what I'm using every day currently.

I switched over to the Deathadder mainly for FPS gameplay from the Kana, but could say that the Kana was a better for me when playing RTS games/Mapping/3D Modelling. I tried out the Kana, and the Deathadder both before buying my own, so feeling it before you buy it might be your best option. I have larger hands, so most of the gaming mice these days do not fit well for me no matter the playstyle, and I think that's the most important part about choosing what your personal mouse would be.

u/Kant_Lavar · 2 pointsr/swtor

My personal plan when I replace my mouse and keyboard is the Razer Deathadder 2013 and Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2014. I picked the latter on recommendations from several folks, both personally and in /r/mechanicalkeyboards, and the former because I currently use a Deathadder mouse that's been with me since 2009 and is just now starting to have an issue with one of the side buttons. Combined with regular shipping should still be well shy of your $200 budget limit.

u/NoTroop · 2 pointsr/truegaming

I currently use a Ducky DK9008G2 PRO with brown Cherry MX switches. which is probably my favorite keyboard ever, however it is very expensive, but looking at the pros and cons of a mechanical keyboard over a rubber dome, it just made sense. Learn more about why they are better here and a buying guide can be found here.

However, they aren't for everyone, if you only use your computer occasionally or you only use it for gaming, rubber domes are probably alright, but mechanical keyboards are always fun to look at.

***

As for Razer, most people say that the majority of the stuff they sell isn't really worth it as far as being worth using, however many make the exception of the Razer Deathadder, which is what I personally use (The 2013 version) And I love it. I've been using DeathAdders for the past 3 years as my mouse of chose, however this is my second one, as my first one's scroll wheel stopped functioning correctly after 2 years of middle clicking so much.

u/dashmoopies · 2 pointsr/razer

If you're looking for a be all end all solution just pick up a DeathAdder on Amazon. I think that's gonna be my plan when my Mamba TE dies on me if I don't go with a generic Dell mouse. It's relatively cheap for a Razer product, and optical.

u/SwammerDo · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

It is a gaming mouse but the Razer Deathadder Essential is a really good, comfortable, and quiet mouse. It's great for office work and can be found cheap in plain packaging on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Razer-DeathAdder-Essential-Ergonomic-Comfortable/dp/B00AAS888S/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1480653770&sr=1-2&keywords=deathadder+3.5g

And the Rosewill RK-9000V2 BR with MX Browns is a great upper-mid end board with solid build quality and switches that are not overly loud.

u/MattWolfTV · 2 pointsr/summonerschool

I love the deathadder. I have long hands and I hate small mice where my hand is cramped. Usually around $45. (Seems like prices are a bit inflated atm)

http://www.amazon.com/Razer-DeathAdder-Ergonomic-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B00AAS888S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420830643&sr=8-1&keywords=razer+deathadder

u/thetonyk123 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

For the mouse you don't need to spend a bunch of money to get something good, here's the mouse my friend uses. http://www.amazon.com/E-3lue-EMS109BK-Precision-Control-1600dpi/dp/B005CPGHAA/ His only complaint is he can't turn off the LED on it, which could be a problem if you don't like it. You could spend a bit more for a better mouse such as the Deathadder or Steelseries Rival (I personally own the rival, great mouse)

For keyboards, it's up to you if you want mechanical or membrane. Mechanical will be more expensive but it's nicer to type on and feels better. This is a very basic membrane keyboard, it works. Here is a good mechanical. (FYI it doesn't use the standard Cherry MX keyswitches most mechs use, although they still feel better then membrane). You can also look at Corsair's keyboards, Corsair's, and other manufactures mechanical keyboards.

For the monitor I'm assuming you want something decent, 1080p, 60hz? Here is a 24 inch 1080p 60hz monitor, you could look at cheaper ones too. It really depends on what you want. I use 2 23 inchers that I got for $100 and they work fine for my uses.

Good luck!

u/Whiskey-Weather · 2 pointsr/summonerschool

This would be suggestion numero uno. If you have some kind of physical disability that prevents you from using a normal mouse, I'd say attempt to get used to a higher dpi/sensitivity so you can keep things controlled when you need to, but have the capability to flick if you need rapid camera movement.

u/MorePancakes · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace
u/Daronmal12 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Logitech G502 or Razer DeathAdder are the two best usually, both about $50, great tracking, amazingly comfy, both about medium sized so you don't need to worry about hand/mouse size.

  • Mouse: Razer Deathadder 2013
  • Keyboard: Corsair K70 w/ Cherry MX Reds
  • Headset: OLD Astro A40s
  • Mic: [Blue Yeti](https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Yeti-USB-* Microphone-Blackout/dp/B01LY6Z2M6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1487966502&sr=8-3&keywords=blue%2Byeti&th=1)
  • Speakers: Altec Lansing 251 5.1 6-speaker system (I actually have the older version of these from around '03-04)

Just bought the Blue Yeti and I'm pretty happy with it. I've had the A40s for 5-6 years and it's probably time to replace it soon. Great headset, but I don't need an attached microphone anymore so probably replacing it with a decent set of studio headphones within the next year or two.

Love my K70 and Deathadder. Not really much to say on either. They're pretty no-frills, comfortable, accurate peripherals.

Still cheaper than a Sensei. I'd say its priced pretty good. Also on a comparable price with a Logitech G400.

Definitely agreed with you being comfortable. Especially with the 2013 edition, the addition of the grips aaaaaaaah makes computing experience that much better.

u/hashbuhrowns · 2 pointsr/MouseReview

Yeah, pretty much the only thing you'll be using there is the DPI settings, LED settings, and the profile settings. There's also the surface calibration settings. I've used it and it doesn't really help; I've read that it just adjusts the lift-off distance. I think the price for the DeathAdder has dropped, which may help.

Edit: I saw your comment stating your budget. The price for the DeathAdder has went down to $52.

p.s. I feel like a broken tape recorder saying "DeathAdder" so many times.

I've been using the Corsair Vengeance K90. It is a beautiful keyboard, very responsive, fast, and low-pressure pressing required. It also has a large number of macros, and looks cool to boot.

For a mouse, I would recommend either a Razer Death Adder if you do not plan on using macros, a Razer Naga if you do use macros (I personally use them as the numbers for ward placements and actives on items). Some people also prefer Logitech, for which I would recommend the G600 or the G9X, and still others prefer Mad Catz Cyborg or Corsair M95 or Corsair M65.

You definitely need to make sure the mice are comfortable first though.

u/OceanicMeerkat · 1 pointr/MouseReview

Looking for suggestions!

I currently have a Razer Deathadder 2013, and I like it alot. The problem is, its green, and everything else is blue. So I'm interested in the Proteus G502, although I'm not sure I need all the macros (the Deathadder's macros have been absolutely fine for me).

I'm glad to pay money to get the best product, but I was wondering, should I look into a G402? It's about $50 vs the G502 $70 (new). Is there a major difference between the two mice other than number of macros?

I generally like large mice, so it makes since that I've enjoyed the Deathadder's ergonomics. Should I just get a blue Deathadder like this? This is the model I have currently.

I'm welcome to any comments, thanks for reading.

I used the mx518 for over 8 years and I agree. I had to edit my original post to say newer logitech mice because all the nubpc gamerkids who got fed up with xbox think laser mice are actually usable... and the G400 is actually the same sensor as the mx518 with improvements. Get a G400 if you like it, but going to the razer deathadder 2013 was the greatest decision of my gaming life. 1 - A 3770 will not offer "worse" performance by any means. Perhaps it will offer equal performance, but it will certainly not be Less. Your linked benchmarks - "The performance on most tests was equal...which results in identical performance, etc."

2 - Are you sure you know what you're saying? The motherboard has 4 RAM slots!! The system already has headroom with 16GB installed - you even comment that 16GB is overkill.

3 - I mentioned that this wasn't a top of the line system but a decent starting point, I don't see why OP needs to spend more money for a Samsung or Intel SSD as, I quote you directly "Crucial is great!"

4 - I selected the WD Caviar because it has a 64MB cache vs. the Barracuda with a 32MB cache for the same price. Granted there's a Barracuda with a 64MB cache, but it's more money.

5 - "very sub-par graphics card" is awfully subjective. Obviously there are more expensive cards available and a 7970 is over $100 more than the 660 ti. The 660ti is a perfect decent middle of the road graphics card, OP can always upgrade in a year if he needs more performance no?

6 - The case HAS front USB 3.0 "and stuff"! - Did you even look before shooting it down??

7 - I didn't realize the objective was to spend every dollar possible. The PSU is perfectly sufficient for this build with at least 200Watts of headroom for expansion.

8 - OP didn't specify a monitor size or brand preference, I was attempting to give him 3 decent monitors to suit his request.

9 - The Saitek Eclipse II is an Exceptionally well regarded keyboard and an excellent value for the money. Having used it for years I can personally vouch for it. Here's some backup

10 - The Razer Deathadder is a great mouse, both value wise and ergonomically. More reviews

If you want a mouse that will last for a very long time, get this http://www.amazon.com/Razer-DeathAdder-Ergonomic-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B00AAS888S. PCGamer said it was the best gaming mouse of the year, so, pretty good!

u/mc_nibbles · 1 pointr/buildapc

Depends on what you need in a mouse.

If you're looking for a regular gaming mouse with decent DPI, you can go super cheap and get decent DPI compaired to a regular mouse, but not any super build quality. You can Go a small step up with a budget name brand mouse, which will have slightly better build quality. Then you can jump up to a Decent gaming mouse which has high DPI and good build quality, or this one as an alternative.

If you are an MMO gamer and want side buttons, there aren't many budget options, but the Razer Nagga MMOG 2014 Or the Logitech G600.

I have peronsally used all levels of gaming mice, and still use a super cheap wireless gaming mouse with my laptop, and I use an original Razer Naga MMOG on my desktop. I like them both, though I don't expect my cheap wireless one to last long, it still performs extremely well for the price.

Keep in mind these are just suggestions, Other people might like/disklike these mice for there own personal reasons. I peronally like the ergonomics of the Razer mice over any other.

u/RainieDay · 1 pointr/buildapc

> If you actually get around to holding them, they feel hollow, like the heads of Razer Fanboys.

Just cause Beats adds weights to their headphones doesn't make it better. Weight is just customization; for example, if you removed the weights and the metal scroll wheel of the G502, it would feel just as "hollow." However, some gamers prefer a lighter mouse... especially for fast and precise movement. On a side note, I own a CM Storm Reaper. It's basically a gaming mouse with a lot of metal. It feels sturdy as hell, but is it a good gaming mouse? Absolutely not. It's so heavy, it takes effort and time to get used to the mouse's acceleration and deceleration.

> Their switches ARE worse and ARE rated for a lot less clicks then Cherry

Nope. Kailh switches are rated a minimum of 50 million clicks. Cherry Switches are the same. They also have the same exact tolerances and thus are the same exact quality.

> mouse switches are rated for a few million less clicks than a logitech mouse for the same price or cheaper.

The first part is true, the Logitech G502 is rated at 20 million while the Deathadder is rated at 10 million, but realistically, how many clicks will you get out of a gaming peripheral before you buy a new one? The average human being clicks the mouse 500 times a day. Let's assume the PC gamer clicks the mouse on average twice that amount. 1000 clicks / 2 mouse buttons = 500 clicks per switch/day. A year generates 500 clicks * 365 days = 182500 clicks. That equates to 55 year lifespan for a mouse rated at 10 million clicks...

Your second point is false. A Deathadder can be had for $40, cheaper than the G502 and even the G402.

I'm thinking about getting a new mouse. I tried some out in store the other day, to discover they all feel more comfortable than the cheap thing I have right now. I don't quite know what it is that I want.

  • Games: I don't have a primary atm, so a bit of everything. Though I rarely play fps games. [But I haven't tried Overwatch, and that might change my mind]. No MMO or MOBA. But I'll be using the mouse daily for everything, including general browsing and use while researching etc.

  • Handed: Right. Though I do sometimes use my mouse in my left, so maybe ambidextrous. Not a requirement though, as I can happily use a right-handed w/ my left.

  • Budget: Maximum at £50. But would prefer lower [since I don't need bells and whistles].

  • Hand size: Average, ish. 17cm tip of the middle finger to the base of the hand. I think that's what you're asking for. 8cm sideways.

  • Grip type: I tend to grip w/ my fingertips, and pivot on the 'ball' of my hand/ wrist. But I also change, and sometimes use others for a bit. edit: I think my grip type is heavily dependent on the mouse I'm holding. I tried a Mionix and it was comfortable.

  • Weight: I don't know, I've never held a 'heavy' mouse before. So I'll just say average.

    Any other details:

  • I generally would like to be able to adjust my mouses sensitivity on-mouse via buttons.

  • I don't want any configuration via software i.e. plug and play. [as I use linux, and drivers are generally a bitch]

  • No LEDS [or atleast disableable], and it can't look too gamery.

  • Buttons near the thumb for browsing: back-up, go-forward type things.

  • Preferably black or grey, but not required. Preferably non-obtuse logos, but not required.

  • Since I don't play fps, I especially don't need a mouse that they tend to like, with really low sensitivity and sliding your hand all over the table to use. I don't have much desk space, and due to my fingertip-pivot-grip I need a sensitivity such that I can maneuver my cursor around my 24" monitor w/ ease.

  • Wired

  • Not a requirement, I don't know if such things exist, but - quiet? Do quiet mice exist?

Since I don't know too much about mice, I'm quite open for suggestion, and I don't think I'm too picky and could have my mind changed if you recommend something. If there are any features [esp. ergonomic ones] you think would be useful to me, please tell me.

    ---

Also - What's with the mice with the free wheeling scrolls? Is there a list of mice that use this? What are the general uses for this? Looks quite fun though... So, if it's a choice that I can get w/o many sacrifices, I wouldn't say no.

edit: I'll not have a look over logical increments if anything catches my eye. But I doubt it since I don't really know what I'm looking for. This Logitech G400s and Razer Deathadder are the kind of look I'm trying to avoid.

I play lots of games, but BF3 is the only one that requires most from my mouse/ keyboard. The one you linked sounds great, but the price goes way higher than I thought it would be and I prefer how deathhader/ other mice looks. I have some razer stuff and didn't get any problem at all, they work great. Guess Ill stick with deathhader, but now my problem is there are so many lol. Is there any big difference from Chroma to Default one aside from multi color leds? If chroma works better I may get it, but probaly won't use the "chroma".

u/hypersprite · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

With that sort of price range, I would look into some hardware. A mouse, I would recommend a Razer Deathadder. Its quite cheap and its a nice mouse. Without really knowing their specs is a difficult task to buy something.

Edit: That one is the Chinese version this in the American Version. Its probably nicer but a bit more pricey.

u/thatnameisalsotaken · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

It's a great build that would work more than adequately. But you can make it better. (And I don't mean that in a condescending way, as you can tell from other comments, it really is great)

Working down from the top, the first thing I notice is the video card. Now, the STRIX looks really cool and I'd say the advertising is great. I was about to pick one up myself, but I decided otherwise, and I opted for a different one. Reason being that the STRIX doesn't overclock as high or run as cool as other GTX 970s.

I chose the GIGABYTE G1 GAMING 970 because it is the highest overclocking GTX 970, has the best cooling, has a backplate for support, and is cherry picked in the factory to ensure overclocking results.

Next up is the OS, you could easily stick with what you have, if you already have a code and just put it on the list for simplicity or want to buy it for full price. Or you could get a far less expensive code from r/MicrosoftSoftwareSwap. Just be sure that it is legit.

Then there's the monitor. I don't think you need a 144hz monitor if you're just getting into PC gaming. You may be trying to futureproof your system and use the full potential of the video card, but there are some downsides to 144hz. I'm no expert on monitors, but I do know that refresh rates that fast USUALLY result in bad colors, contrast, saturation, and backlight bleed. What I would get is a 1440p monitor.

The keyboard could stay, or could go. I would toss it. It is a cooler master, so it's likely not going to give you carpel tunnel. But it is still a rubber dome. That was my first upgrade, I got a nice mechanical keyboard to replace my rubber dome "gaming" keyboard. I would get this keyboard, from what I hear and have tried, it's great for the money. KEEP IN MIND a mechanical keyboard will be MUCH louder. Not loud enough to keep someone awake across the house, but with some microphones, people will be able to hear it over the internet (in game chat, skype, teamspeak).

The mouse, you only need to get one separately if you decide the keyboard you selected isn't the one for you. I would go with what I have heard good feedback on, although it is up to you. I have the Razer Deathadder and it's fantastic. Just not cheap. I have heard some people call this mouse the best one on the planet. It is a rebranded Zoie EC1.

For an optical mouse it is always a good idea to get a mousepad. Unless you already have one, my favorite is the steelseries QCK. It's the one I use, and it's cheap.

u/Schtluph · 1 pointr/thedivision

It's important to remember what you'll be using your PC for before picking out your peripherals.

For a mouse:
Any type of MMO or MOBA gaming? I recommend a Razer Naga (Razer hate stems from overpricing, they're still quality products), the Corsair Scimitar, or the Logitech G600. Mostly FPS? I recommend the Zowie FK1/FK2 (they seem to be hard to find these days, unfortunately), the Logitech G400s or the Razer Deathadder. I also recommend you check out this guide for more details on solid gaming mice.

Keyboards are a lot harder because even if I list features you'd need to know what type of resistance you'd want in your keys, when it comes to mechanical.
How much space do you have? Do you need a full size keyboard, a tenkeyless board (which just removes the numpad),or a 60% board. Do you want mechanical, which can make typing more comfortable but is more expensive? Then you'll need to check out some youtube videos if you can't find instore demos. Bestbuy should have a couple, but if not try this video. If you want the clacky noise then Blues are the way to go, but normally I'd recommend reds or browns.

Good luck! And if I notice an error in my post I'll edit soon.

EDIT: Added a couple more mouse recommendations.

u/Xivios · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I think you should take a serious look at an optical mouse. Optical sensors are simply better than laser sensors, and you'd be doing yourself a disservice by spending $80 on an inferior product.

Some good mice in your price range are the Zowie FK1, the Logitech G400s, and the Razor Deathadder

I'm a big fan of the Razer DeathAdder 2013. It's precise, though a bit minimalistic when it comes to buttons.

In 90% of shooters, I tend to map the mouse side buttons to melee and grenade. That's just me though.

u/GABE_PWN · 1 pointr/MouseReview

If you want a larger mouse, it's kind hard to find cheap, large mice that aren't crap. You could get the 2013 DeathAdder or the Rival 300. Neither are exactly cheap, but they're not as expensive as many other high-performing mice.

u/BlindSp0t · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Just go with Ramzinho suggestion as it's the best (you should try out some mice for yourself, see which one fits your hand and your grip better, only you can do that).

But as you asked for a rundown of mice, here's my experience:

A4Tech AK47

PROS

  • Really cheap
  • Solid
  • ambidextrous
  • Can select out of a few DPI settings

    CONS

  • No additional buttons (thumb or otherwise) except for the DPI switch.
  • Kinda flat
  • Ugly design

My first "gaming" mouse, I had no money left after building my computer so I went for this one. It's good for a starting mouse, but low end and the missing thumb buttons are a big turn off.

    Logitech G700

    PROS

  • Logitech freeroll mousewheel
  • A LOT OF BUTTONS
  • Polling Rate and DPI settings

    CONS

  • Heavy
  • The charging cable is super hard to move and you are required to use it at times since the mouse battery is insanely ridicule. I mean it lasts only a few hours on a full charge...
  • Battery is shit
  • Mousewheel quality is shit. Broke 2 mice in a month.
  • Kinda weird grip on the mouse, not really comfortable.
  • Logitech gaming software
  • Only for right handed people

This mouse is huge, has a lot of features, a lot of buttons, and a lot of flaws. Not recommanded for fast paced gaming because of the short battery duration or heavy ass charging cable.

    Razer DeathAdder

    PROS

  • Not really expensive in the US (really expensive everywhere else tho)
  • Best form factor for a lot of people (subjective)
  • Nice and big thumb buttons
  • Nice and satisfactory click when pressing buttons
  • Available for both right and left handed persons
  • DPI and polling rate settings
  • Really low activation point (<3mm) so you won't make huge weird movements if you're one of those that lift their mouse a lot.
  • Can save profiles

    CONS

  • Razer Quality (broke 3 over a total timespan of 2 years)
  • Razer Gaming Software

One of the best mice I used overall, I'll still be using one if they weren't so cheaply made and broke so much.

    Steelseries Sensei Raw Rubber

    PROS

  • Ambidextrous
  • Good form factor if you have big hands
  • DPI and polling rate settings
  • Low activation point

    CONS

  • Issues with the mousewheel

A good mouse overall, but kinda bland compared to others, as in not really providing good value for the money. Also has mousewheel issues, which is what made me switch to something else. The issue appeared after a good 7 or 8 months, but was really fucking with me after a while. Basically it would go randomly up when you scrolled down, and vice versa.

    Zowie FK2

    PROS

  • NO DRIVER!!!
  • Ambidextrous
  • DPI and polling rate settings (you can't precisely set your DPI, but you have 4 settings to switch from a button)
  • Really precise
  • Really low activation point (almost on par with razer's deathadder on a razer goliathus mat)
  • Really solid build
  • discreet mouse if you're not into the usual gaming gear design

    CONS

  • Not braided cable (my cat chewed the cable off of my first FK2 :()
  • kinda expensive for the amount of goodies it carries
  • The DPI button is located below the mouse, so it's not practical if you like to switch on the fly during gameplay.

The mouse I'm currently using. It comes close second to Razer in terms of how comfortable it is for me. It's light years ahead in terms of quality. As you probably remarked, I'm not really taking care of my mice (thanks CS), but this one is indestructible. No driver bullshit, but that means no precise DPI settings (you've got 4: 400, 800, 1600 and 3200), and no profiles but that really isn't an issue. Large Teflon pads, it glides really nicely on my goliathus control mat, almost as well as the deathadder. Dunno what else to say, apart that I'm currently happy with it even though I long for the day someone makes a solid deathadder. I'm even using the one my cat chewed the cable off of at work, with a bit of tape it's working fine as long as I don't move the cable too much.

edit: who puts an "s" at the end of mice?

These are some of the best.

Well technically piracy is not illegal in general because you can not be fined for downloading something made public on the internet, only uploading it. Your ISP will however try and limit your piracy habits as it makes them look bad. Now Apple specifically states that your copy of OSX should not be used on a non-apple device in its terms and conditions. But nobody ever listens to those anyways so it will probably not affect you in any way whatsoever.

As for Mac OSX as an OS, its alright. I have a Mac pro 2011 and a HP Z803 and I use both for editing video in Premiere and After Effects. Honestly in terms of editing alone I have come to I prefer Windows over Mac just for the more logical filing structure. Mac does have the advantage of the Apple ProRes Codecs and Final Cut, but I have almost no need for either. Windows is just so much more open to 3rd party editing tools or even major ones like Octane Render which is incompatible with all Macs because they are using AMD Firepro GPUs.
Also windows absolutely smokes Mac at gaming. In conclusion, I see the appeal of Mac, but it does not serve me any benefit and honestly feels quite restricting.
