Its kid one and it's tiny. It's alot like those folding lawn chairs I see at sporting events. If your concerned I cant give you a Amazon link.

We use the Regalo Toddler Cot and it works well. It is $25 on Amazon.

I bought my dogs a toddler cot because it was about $20 cheaper at the time (looks like $26 now). I've had it for 4 years and it's their bed during camping trips and at home. They love it!

I recently got one of these at Sam’s Club. It folds neatly, and my 2 year old seems to love it when away from the house.

What kind of cot is it? Something like this?

Been travelling with mine since he was 6 weeks old and now he's 4! We prefer to stay in AirBNB type accommodations so that we are not relegated to only two beds and a small television ( like in a hotel). These places usually can accommodate certain baby gear if you message ahead of time.

In general, we pack as such when we fly: Stroller, Carseat, small kid sized carry on backpack with some toys, crayons and coloring book, playdoh. A small bag of snacks, my own small carry on backpack with small travel purse tucked inside, my husband's carry on back pack, as well as a suitcase for clothes per person.

We do travel heavy compared to when he was a baby but it's worth it. Remember that things can serve dual purpose - a stroller with tray can double as a highchair, etc.

If we are going somewhere local, we also use a travel cot if there isn't going to be an additional bed available for the little to use. Also, kids are more resilient than we give them credit for a lot of times. Just make sure to budget your time accordingly and plan for extra time in the airport or driving because you'll have to cater to that.

Also, consider investing in in a tablet to keep your sanity in check on long plane rides. For Christmas 2017, Amazon ran a special that included the tablet, a case, a screen protector, and a memory card for about $120. Worth every penny. Drop some acquired movies and tv shows on it and then the littles can watch without need for WiFi or cell data.

I lost a contact while driving this morning so we are both blind together!

Firstly, these things are pretty great! I know it's a little over your price range, but my cousin has this cot for her daughter and they use it everywhere they go! Your nephew will grow up quick, so maybe save that as an idea for his birthday next year when a toddler bed is more appropriate.

this thing is great! and your sister-in-law would likely enjoy it. It's pretty affordable considering the cost of most baby carriers, it's comfortable, and it packs up small. Perfect for when he starts to walk but then gets tired halfway there! Also great for quick outings to stores where they don't want to bring their stroller.

these things are great! Hydration is key when outdoors and I love that the straw folds into the lid so it doesn't get dirty. I know it says 12m+ but my son started using it at 7 months with no problems.

Lastly, I love these Not only do they match the water bottle, but they are great for bringing cheerios/goldfish/etc along and not having to worry about the plastic bag.

Sorry I sent too many and a couple were a few dollars over your budget :-(

If I win, feel free to browse my wishlists and surprise me. I know there's some under $5 ones around somewhere in there (I think maybe the random one?)

EDIT: TIL I use the word "great" a lot!

Try to keep in mind that toddlers move in phases. This time will pass, and as long as you keep trying, you will eventually see progress. Does his dad have a bed for him? When we moved my son into a toddler bed, we also got him a kid's cot & sleeping bag so he has "his own big boy bed" when doing sleepovers with family, too. We moved this hear and spent several months in limbo living in two cities at once. The cot was a godsend.

Eta: This is the cot we got. Our son loved it from the moment it arrived (he was 2 then):

I didn't realized there were rooms at Port Orleans that didn't have the pull down.

If you are going to bring one, we have this one. Its relatively packable. We have used it every year up untl last year, because we did have a room with a pull down.

We used a pack n play until our daughter was about that height (which was around 2 years old). Then we switched to a travel cot.
