The one from the first gen fire stick works perfectly except you loose the voice search function. https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Remote-Amazon-Fire-Stick/dp/B00LORGAG6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483399591&sr=8-1&keywords=fire+stick+remote

You may find that your TV remote works also. The ones from my sharp and sony tv's work. The only thing that I have not been able to figure out is how to wake up the mi box.

Others have reported the Logitech remotes work. A quick search of this subedit should find that information.

If its the 6 Button + Direction Pad Bluetooth FireStick remote, the answer is yes as long as the android box supports bluetooth. I use my FireStick remote with my nvidia shield daily. Just pair it and go.

Not what you asked but... Amazon FireTV remote is only $15 & works great. :-)

I use that & a mini keyboard for the rare times I have to type.

Yes it works on the Mi Box, just as well as the Nexus Player. BUT like the other person said, Keep in mind there are a couple of apps it doesn't work correctly in for some reason, one of those Being HBO. When you click the center button to hit enter, it doesn't register. It works fine on most apps, so I don't know why it doesn't it in HBO. Also, if you have the remote with voice, the voice part of it does not work. This is the one I have:

They sell replacement relies on Amazon

You mean something like this? It will just pair over bluetooth?

I don't get this whole thread.

Plug in, switch to console mode. The Shield Hub is optimized for TV, and you can use it as a launcher instead of the stock homescreen.

Need an Ethernet port (for whatever reason; the Portable's WiFi connection is more than enough for me to stream hi-def Netflix and download app updates in the background)? OTG Ethernet adapter.

Want a TV-friendly controller? How about the fully-compatible FireTV remote?

Want ChromeCast support? CheapCast works great on the Portable. (That may break once the Portable gets L.)

OP confuses me. Everything he wants already exists and works on the "set-top" version of the Shield (the Portable in console mode with the lid closed).

i ordered this months ago, and it finally arrived yesterday. It paired easily, works good so far. The trade off is there is no voice search. I spent forever trying to find an actual Nexus Player replacement remote but other than the game controller had no luck finding one for a reasonable price. It was cheaper to buy a new Nexus Player then just getting a remote

I did purchase this remote.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I'm not having trouble pairing the remote with the bluetooth on the Raspberry Pi. In fact, if I go into a text editor, the direction buttons move the cursor similar to how the arrow keys on a keyboard would, the middle button moves the cursor down a line similar to hitting the enter key, etc.

However, after I launch Kodi, the input from the remote no longer works. If I exit Kodi, the input still works fine with the text editor. It's like the Kodi doesn't know how to handle the input from the remote.

Have you tried other controllers or is it the Nexus Player itself the problem? There's no voice search with it but I've seen other people have paired the old Fire Stick remote (bluetooth) with the Nexus Player. https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Remote-Amazon-Fire-Stick/dp/B00LORGAG6/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

I like mine and have had no problems. It does feel a little cheap and the click is a little loud though.

However this gets a lot of usuage and im wondering what would be a cheap replacement if this were to break down the road? And i would hate to lose voice search, use it all the time.

I wish the np was a hit so getting replacement remotes would be easy.

Edit: anyone know if this works with voice search with the np?

I got one of those when I lost mine. Works great just no voice.
