I really liked the small form factor of the Benchmade Valet, but really hated the grey they chose for the G10 scales. I know there were other variations of the Valet, but I'm not about to drop $600 or even $1,000 on one of Benchmade's Gold Class models. Especially on a knife that will be part of my EDC rotation, so I thought I'd try to dye them. A cheap $4 stainless steel pot from Goodwill, a $4 bottle of Rit Dye and 45 minutes later this is what I ended up with. I'm very happy with the blue, although was expecting something a little more teal, but IMO a big improvement from the boring flat grey.

I also liked this version of the Valet with wood scales, but I don't think the wood is made to last. Here is an eBay auction showing what a little wear and tear can do on this one.

RIT Aquamarine.

You need to boil the hell outta them and for HOURS (on and off the highest heat) and I think Vinegar is what helped turn it 50% darker and absorb the dye better in these Magpul Sand pmag Magazines since they got WAY darker once I did a third - 7th boil with it. People reported doing these quick but it took like all day and overnight to get this color.

Also, the magpul window will NOT absorb dye at all which is awesome, no matter how long you dye, no need to cover them or worry about the M3 mags with them.
