Gonna keep copy-pasting this 'cuz everybody knows "that guy" in party chat who lives in a wind tunnel with kids hooked up to scream-torture devices 24/7, while simultaneously executing full body karate movements into his keyboard and mouse while eating industrial grade cheetos from the fucking twilight zone and laughing at 120 decibel "you laugh you lose" compilations on Youtube inbetween bites. On an open mic. Without headphones.
I posted this elsewhere for the Yeti, but most of these tips should work for the Nano as well:
PC Specs:
My room is missing moldings and doesn't have a hardwood floor, the budget isn't quite there yet. Maybe in a couple months.
This mic was probably my favorite purchase. Friends comment that the voice quality is stunning. I would recommend getting the Neewer mount for about 15 dollars if you're on a budget, this mic does pick up a lot of vibrations with the table stand it comes with. Also, purchase a metal 5/8 to 3/8 mic adapter if you do order the Neewer mount, the plastic one that comes with the Neewer mount is a piece of shit whose threads strip like nobody's business.
Edit: provided links
Link to Neewer Scissor Mount $12.50
Link to 5/8 adapter $4.95
Link to Rode PSA1 Mount if you have money to spend $98.79
EDIT 2: u/Mebbwebb stated the Neewer mount might not come with the tightening knob for the Mic. In that case you would have to use a wrench to tighten the mount where the Mic attaches to the arm. The Neewer mount I have has a tightening knob. He has linked an offer that includes a tightening knob plus the mount he linked is cheaper and comes with a free Google Cardboard promotion.

The Blue Yeti should work well if you only have a single mic. You'll have even better results in your regular recording location due to better sound dynamics (a circular room with stone walls and omnidirectional pickup is going to be awful acoustics). It is a condenser, so expect it to be very sensitive to background noise, but also very good at picking up the quality in voices. Do a pass with a noise reduction and equalization to bring out some bass and treble and the voices to make the dialogue much clearer.
The biggest problem you may face is with the stand. The Blue Yeti desk stand is atrociously bad, and barely usable. Any sort of vibration in the floor (including feet shuffle) is picked up, and let alone activity on the desk that is popular with table-top games. There are very cheap solutions available that easily doubled the quality of recordings when I implemented it, which I would recommend starting with. Eventually, you should upgrade to boom arms to keep mics off the center of the table and a shock mount to attach. This will reduce a lot of sound problems, give you more space for battle maps, and help you with a multi-mic setup. This is the one I use and highly recommend, although it is certainly costly and you might consider picking up a cheaper one if you are on a budget.
If you want to use a multi-mic setup without audio bleeding or phase issues, it'll be all about how to position the microphones. There's no silver bullet otherwise, so if you want to give it a shot, use cardioid mics angled at 90 degrees from each other with everyone placed in a triangular position around the table. It takes a while to get right, but when you do, it's amazing. Saving that, you can try your best to sit on two sides of a table with two mics (one for each side). Definitely avoid omnidirectional settings if possible, because - by definition - those pick up everything including echoes and background noise from places where you aren't sitting.
For the record, I have and use the Blue Yeti and like it a lot, but if you are looking to expand your microphones up a little more, avoid buying a second one. USB microphones do not play well together at all, and you'll need to spend a lot of technical time to make it work (and usually it completely prohibits two mics being the same type if you are relying on software solutions). Instead, look into a USB/XLR microphone like the ATR2100 that can be used in a computer and also a mixer if you upgrade to using one.
I'm just a hobbyist who had to do a lot of my own acoustics as well, so I'm definitely not an expert. But I can appreciate the struggle that you're going through so I wanted to impart some knowledge I've gathered over time.
> Even hardware suggestions would be great
Get a rode boom arm for his mic, its a pretty expensive arm for it but its sturdy and never let me down.
> if theres anything to boost his viewers
Don't worry about stuff like that. You can re-tweet his stream on Twitter and talk to your friends IRL about his stream to get attention to his stream.
> He did make a comment about needing a better audio set up if he wanted to stop relying on his roommates
My friend TG has a professional help website with a Do It Yourself guide: https://www.audio.support/
Hope this helped.
His mic is excellent (Blue yeti I believe). What he needs to do is buy a microphone arm so that it doesn't sit on his table (Swedish store in case semmler is listening), and also stop using skype. Mumble has great sound quality and is a great alternative.
edit: a pop-filter would also be great if he hasn't already got one.
edit2: Being on a laptop probably didn't help last stream either so. Stick to the desktop!

>a cool scissor arm to hold & move your microphone
Do yourself a favor and skip the Neewer model if money is not as important as quality. Get the Rhode model instead, it'll last much longer and support heavier mics if you decide to upgrade. I've also found it holds its position so much more reliably. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D7UYBO
Thanks! It’s been a work in progress for years but basically, I use microphone stand parts combined with Ram Mount parts. The main method of holding the device is magnetic. I use a Ram Mount magnet for that which I will link to.
From there, you pick the Ram Mount socket arm that you like. Then you need a ball to put in the socket. That’s where I convert to the microphone mount so some kind of adapter to get the ball attached to the microphone mount.
You would have to configure what kind of microphone arm you want for your bed. I used a Rode PSA1 for the tablet holder. The PSA1 has some quirks for this application but I like it. The mount on the right holds my phone and that one uses a standard gooseneck microphone holder attached to a boom arm. Then you have to figure out a way to attach the boom arm to the headboard. I use a microphone table mount that I screw on.
These links are just to give you an idea of what I used in this configuration and they aren’t the best prices around because I just shared the links from previous purchases. If you end up wanting to design something like this, send me a message and I can help if you have questions. I have about 6 other mounts that I’ve made around the house for various chairs, tables, etc.
All this is possible because Ram Mounts makes great stuff! I love them.

No, you likely don't NEED this nice of a boom arm. The $12.50 NEEWER arm will certainly get the job done for much much cheaper. But if you prefer professional/higher quality and don't mind paying a premium for such, then the RODE arm may be for you. This thing very rarely goes on discount as you can see here.

I also plan on picking up Noctua NH-D14 and an H440 soon to replace my 650D and H100i.
Rode PSA1. You already have a Rode mic, why not get their arm? I have both and can recommend them.
I use Samson shock mount that required a bit of modification to get the Podcaster to fit. Namely, you need to pull the inner ring out of the shock mount connector to get the Podcaster to fit. At that point, everything is fine.
I believe TB uses the Rode PSA-1 found here: http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367547836&sr=8-1&keywords=rode+psa1
A lot of youtubers may also use just a simple guitar boom stand like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Stage-Stands-MS7701-Tripod-Microphone/dp/B000978D58/ref=sr_1_3?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1367547879&sr=1-3&keywords=onstage+boom Please note that this boom stand goes on the floor and not on your desk.
If your after something cheap and efficient, this is the one for you http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microphone-Stand-Boom-FREE-Clip/dp/B001ANK7BS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367527006&sr=8-1&keywords=mic+boom
This one is a bit more expensive, but it gives you the ability to position the mic right in front of your mouth, and move it out of the way when not in use with ease http://www.amazon.co.uk/PODCASTER-TABLE-STAND-AND-ARM/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_3?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1367527094&sr=1-3&keywords=mic+boom
I'm a fan of the Rode PSA1 as far as microphone arms are concerned. Comes with most of the hardware you need and it's solid.
Dude... hop aboard the train. I've been on it for 2 years now.
This is what I have right now.
Sweet and simple, don't get a direct to USB mic. If you have the money, splurge on an XLR mic (either condenser or dynamic) and Preamp. Why? Well USB mics are strictly for beginners. Like, toddler beginners. My experience with USB mics is that the signal to noise ratio is way to high. Trying to cram a preamp and a mic into one housing creates problems, and you don't have a lot of control over the mic's power.
And let me clear something up for you: The AT2020 is popular, not the AT2020 USB. I'll do you one better: get the AT2035. It's an updated version of the AT2020, and it sounds a lot warmer with vocals.
If you're really running short on funds, read (listen) this. These guys do a great job. If you want to take my advice and go pro-er, read this and this.
Before you ask, this is my dream mic. It's a cheaper version of the RE20, but in my opinion it sounds just as good.
Also, hold off on the mic stand. You're going to want/need one in the long run, but it's really a luxury more than a necessity. I have a Rhode scissor stand that really helps me bring the mic closer.
Also, make sure the room you're in is acoustically proofed. Mine isn't, so I'm working on a sound booth of sorts. If you can't do that, just use a few blankets or something. It changes everything, I promise.
And remember, while a good expensive mic is something nice to have, it really all comes down to the user's voice and the environment.
Rode psa1 🙂 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_9PxZDbP0X9M8Z
Sure, it's this guy, a Mic boom arm with an Audiotechnica AT2200USB attached. Works great!
It can't go all the way to the center of my face. If you are thinking about buying a microphone arm don't go for the cheap ones, go for this one instead https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1491413625&sr=1-7&keywords=blue+yeti+mount
This is pretty much the universal standard in boom arms. If you are willing to spend a few extra bucks it is considered by many to be the best boom arm available. Cheers!
This one and if you want to spend a bit more this one for sure
Stepping up on microphone would help, for sure, but not on the echo part, and perhaps not with the can sound either. You jammed it into a small box...
My suggestion would be to hang the mic from a stand, so when you talk you do so standing. It becomes way better, and the mic will be further away from the heat fans of the computer. You can get something like the Rode arm - or just two wires from each wall / the ceiling.
The echo can be solve with a blanket behind you. I posted a video about it here.
If you are just gaming casually, you ought to be able to configure something like a snowball ice microphone to be centered to your voice and adjust the sensitivity. You could also use one of these to position the mic real close to you so as you can lower the sensitivity greatly and it may just pick up your voice and not background sound.
http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1406827185&sr=8-2&keywords=microphone+desk+mount
Then just use push to talk, they may hear a bit of sound, but it shouldn't be ridiculous. However, if you are competitively gaming, like CS:GO or just FPS games in general, i would highly recommend you toss out the idea of using surround sound speakers. Headphones with good sound stage will allow you to hear enemy positioning far better. I used to use surround sound speakers, then i tried a cheap pair of logitechs one day, and the difference was incredible. Now i use beyerdynamic DT770s and i can hear people in CS:GO moving from very far distances and hear where they are accurately.
A blue yeti is actually pretty good. It's just a tad over-priced.
Maybe the Audio-Technica AT2020 Mic, with this stand?? Comes to a bit under half your budget, and ignoring the stand, completely overkill for your uses.
I got this during an amazon prime sale a while back and use it for gaming, streaming and talking to friends. FYI Just going to warn you, this mic is pretty big. I use a swivel arm mount to keep it above my monitor and to minimize desk space. Also USE HEADPHONES or this may pickup your speaker noise (Depending on distance and gain settings)

I would suggest anyone interested in a swivel mount mic stand to go for the PSA1 Mic Arm , it is a bit more expensive when put in comparison to a NEEWER Brand. But it is solid as hell and will fit your mic perfectly. Also you will NOT need a shock mount with the PSA1, it has a foam pad that seems to cancel out my restless legs hitting my desk and my frequent desk raging.

I tried a NEEWER at first, however it could not hold my mic up and dropped it a few times.

I also have a Foam Wind Screen for it and it nullifies any sharp "P" "F" or "B" noises.

I like it alot and it has been serving me well. Your voice will be clear as crystal with this.
It's a cheap one from Amazon. Can't remember exactly which one. Wanna say it was like 15 bucks. It's not great. If I ever get into doing much more voice over work, I'll probably replace the arm and the mic with these from Rode (drool)

I use this with my Yeti Pro, works great:

Ah, here you go - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001D7UYBO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 called the Rode PSA 1
I use this and I dig it. Flexible, out of the way and sturdy as hell.
The Rode PSA1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom Arm looks like it's honestly the only viable upgrade, to me, the rest of the scissor arm mic stands look like cheap Chinese clones of one another.
Please do yourself a favor and get an AT2020 or 2035 XLR. Most people that have been doing this for some time will tell you, get a mic that will last. Don't go the upgrade path. In the long run if you go from headset mic to yet/snowball then eventually upgrade to XLR and a mixer, you're spending unnecessary money. Spend the little bit now to get the end game, and use it for years! Enjoy the high quality the whole time!

This Boom = $100 (Worth it)
This is the boom arm i have that was recommended to me, I've had lower quality ones that didn't work out well and you don't want to know what its like to have almost $200 of equipment dangling on a $15 boom let em tell you. You also don't want to use the desk mounts as from my experience they don't provide the quality that booms do (so much noise every time you move your mouse or get animated and bump your desk slightly. Ive had this boom 3 years and love it still, great investment.

Keeping the mic away from the keyboard helped a little bit. The other thing that helps is noise gating on OBS and Discord. However, the mic stand is really cheap. It works, but it isn't great. I plan to upgrade to this eventually.

Mic wise, I’ve been using the Blue Yeti and I’m really liking it so far! But regarding clamping it to the desk, you might want to look at mic stands/arms. I’m currently using this one by Rode and I find it really useful!
Anyone got any strong opinions on any articulating microphone arm mounts. Is the $100 option really 10x as good as the $10 one?

Either use
This Rode: Mic Arm Pro: No springs to vibrate Con: Expensive
or
This Neewer: Neewer Arm Pros: Cheaper than Chilis Cons: Springs can vibrate and sound awful when bumped
It´s the Rode mic arm.
https://www.amazon.de/Rode-Microphones-PSA-1-Gelenkarmstativ/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504535992&sr=8-1&keywords=rode+mic+stand
Here is the Rode stand. It's quite pricey, but it's high quality.
Here is a cheaper version.
This is the boom i use with mine.
The mic and boom are great.
And yes, it's easily maneuverable.
I have both the AT2020USB and the Racksoy Boom Arm.
Microphone (and pop filter):
Boom Arm:
If you have money to spend, look into the RØDE PSA1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom Arm. It's a lot more expensive compared to the Racksoy, but it's a quality purchase, in my opinion.
I hope this helps. I can't help you with your mixer question as I have no idea about it. :)
Honestly. Just might wanna nite the bullet and spend the 100 for the rode psa1. It’s super freaking nice and well built. I believe it can even hold a yeti if you wanted it to.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_jP1OAbKVMG3XB
I know it's a bit expensive but I recommend the [Rode PSA1](RODE PSA1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom Arm https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_S4JTAbFZP6Y3Y). It is the only arm I havent had falling or sagging issues with.

Check out the RØDE PSA 1
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D7UYBO?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
As far as budget option go, I highly recommend this because it comes with the sleeve and pop filter. I’ve had mine for a few months now and used it on quite a few desks and had some really good results with little to no complaints considering how low the price is. If you wanna go all-out and spend more money on something that’s considered to be better then I suggest this RODE mount.
Rode boom arm
Blue Yeti Black USB studio mic. it does come with a desk stand but the Rode PSA-1 mic boom i have that many others use with the blue yeti frees up my line of sight to all three monitors.
Bit pricey for both but definitely worth it for both compatibility and durability reasons. the rode boom arm comes with an adapter that fits the yeti mic, doesn't use springs on the boom arms which is a far superior design and the blue yeti by itself is just fantastic over a headset mic.
You can also get a pop filter and shock mount but adding both to the cost really increases the initial investment. they aren't really needed to make the yeti mic work but do add extra athletics.
I picked both up on amazon for xmas battlestation upgrades

All of these will work fine for what you need them for. The Rode one would probably sound the best for talking/VoiceOver but its slightly more expensive.

Blue Yeti

I'd go for the Rode PSA1 every time.

I started off with one of those Neewer ones. It was ok, it did the job, but it was cheap, and you could tell. It was very flimsy and didn't swivel well.
I got a Roda PSA1 and I'm so glad I did. It's really really sturdy, will hold a couple of KGs in weight. As well as being able to clamp to the desk edge, it comes with the fittings to mount straight on the desk (if you have the ability to drill/saw a 1.5" round hole in your desk.
BTW, doesn't matter if the mic is upside down or not - it still weighs the same.......
I’ve had this arm for years. Works great. https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_asin_image
If you're looking for one right now, i can really recommend the Rode PSA1 mount! I use it a lot, and i'm pretty sure it works with the Snowball!
Good luck :)
Sweet~~
The boom arms I bought are Rode PSA1. From the research I did prior to buying, it seems that you get what you pay for for booms. Though getting other boom recommendations from r/podcasting might be worth it, especially if you are on a budget.
As for the SM7B's I do not recommend buying them unless you have podcasted for awhile or have deep pockets. I upgraded to the SM7B's after podcasting for 8 years. (If you find out podcasting isn't your thing it is better to be out a fraction of the cost.)

Rode PSA1: https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
I currently use the RODE-Swivel-Mount It is awesome! but you will need the yeti shock mount or another one that will fit.
https://www.amazon.ca/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
yeah the at2005 will pick up much less noise, can be usb to start then upgrade to xlr later, then transition to a diff xlr mic later
These are the two most common "good" boom arms. I had the rode and its not bad
I also like this "traditional" one as its smaller profile
The one i use is crazy expensive BUT is the most unobtrusive thing i have found.
My set up PIC here: https://i.imgur.com/lejBdOP.jpg
personally, i would go for the rode psa-1, which fits your budget and is a solid product.
there are quite a few cheapoer alternatives, but i don't know any of them personally - so it might be that some cheaper alternatives offer the same or similar quality.
i would definitely add a shockmount, since condenser mics are quite sensitive picking up handling noises, which can easily ruin an otherwise perfectly fine recording, just because touched the stand or the table while recording.
also you might get more feedback at /r/audioengineering
I did the same research just yesterday. Based on the Amazon reviews, this is what I came up with:
3-a. RODE PSA 1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom Arm: This is a more expensive, but probably better built, and reliable option.
3-b. Neewer® White Broadcasting Studio Microphone Suspension Boom Scissor Arm stand: A cheaper, probably less reliable (at least according to the reviews) bet for a microphone arm. With a name containing so many adjectives, surely it's not that bad, right? Kappa
Good luck with your endeavour, I know I'll need it. XD
Edit: All the reviews come from Amazon.com as opposed to Amazon.ca for a larger pool of data.
Thanks! What kind of boom did you get? I'm looking at the Rode PSA1, which is fairly expensive but seems to be a very nice stand/arm :D
Get a RØDE PSA1 and this for the popfilter. I'm running that exact setup, heres a picture of that if you're interested.
A bit above your budget, but alternatively you can just use the cheap version of the popfilter (it looks to have fine reviews), and that'll fit within your budget.
This is dynamic
This is the Boom Arm I got for my AT2020 its able to hold a weighted mic like the AT2020
https://www.amazon.co.uk/R%C3%98DE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466605482&sr=8-1&keywords=RODE+PSA1+Swivel+Mount+Studio+Microphone+Boom+Arm
It's on the pricey side, but it's the best: https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1510476179&sr=8-3&keywords=rode+microphone+stand&dpID=31oNOU1-T8L&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
Looks like a Rode PSA 1. Same one I use for my Yeti. Link
http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
Exactly and exactly. this is what I do, just turn it down and get real close to the mic (make sure you have a pop filter if you want to guarantee your friend's pleasure hearing you). The arm I'm using is the Rode PSA1 which supports the Yeti well. Also (obviously) set it to cardioid mode.
I went with the cheapest mic stand that had an integrated xlr cable. After having it for a few months I wouldn't recommend it, but HERE is the link. The RODE PSA1 would be another great option
I have the rode podcaster and I really enjoy it. If you have the opportunity to get it, I would choose it instead of the sm58.
The electricity in our house causes static, so I chose the podcaster and it does sound pretty good - thou a bit thin - much better than the sm58, unless you have a really good preamp (makes a world of difference).
I got mine podcaster used with the boom arm and I highly recommend getting the boom arm. http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=pd_sim_sbs_p_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0B2PTDH58F1GCG42B45Q and a shock mount.
I haven't had any problems with the driver, but I use a mac...
Here it is
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001D7UYBO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Use that. It's the only mic boom that I trust. I went through a few of the recommended ones before I got to that. More pricey, but worth.
I assume you have the Blue Yeti as opposed to the Blue Yeti Pro. The Blue Yeti Pro uses an XLR connection would goes into an audio mixer which might give you more options / flexibility. The Blue Yeti is a regular USB mic.
First off, the Blue Yeti is a condenser microphone. Condenser mics are extremely sensitive. If I'm using my microphone while anyone else is in my residence, I can be recording something upstairs and it will pick up footsteps walking downstairs. There are a couple of things you can do to limit ambient noises:
-Set the microphone into cardioid. Cardioid is designed to pick up audio only in front of the microphone.
-Get yourself a shock mount and a boom arm. Shock mounts are designed to absorb any vibration (or shock) which can impact your audio. Doing simple things such as tapping your feet on the floor and typing on the keyboard is enough of a vibration for the microphone to pick it up.
As far as shock mounts go, you really only have one option available to you: the Blue Radius. The microphone arm I am currently using (and love) is by Rode. In the interest of full disclosure, this is a referral link:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001D7UYBO/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B001D7UYBO&linkCode=as2&tag=mycha02-20
For optimal audio quality make sure you're set to record in windows on 48 kHz / 16 bit, as this is the recording output of the Blue Yeti. Setting this to anything else can reduce the audio quality. The Blue Yeti Pro can go up to 192 kHz / 24 bit. In all honesty, you won't notice the difference in audio quality over Twitch, and probably not anywhere else besides a recording studio with a really nice pair of headphones.
Lirik was complaining about the audio quality of his Blue Yeti and I attempted to go over this with him over chat a while back; however, I think my messages just got lost in the chat abyss. If he continues to have issues feel free to link him to this, and enjoy your microphone. The Blue Yeti microphone is an excellent choice for any streamer/YouTuber.
A lot of people like this arm. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001D7UYBO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 a lot of arms don't fit the Yeti so be sure to double check before you buy a different one.
Wow, 360 bucks! I guess when it's your job, you can splurge.
I have a Blue Yeti, and I would never trust my mic to a modded Ikea lamp though. I got one of these, and I love it.

Got the Yeti on sale for $100.
Bought This shock mount
And This arm
So total $250 for the set up. The Blue Yeti is pretty heavy, so you don't want to skimp out on the arm because it will sag. With that arm, I'm able to adjust to my liking without any movement.
This is what it looks like set up for me
Here is a very good one, a bit pricey, but very good quality.
Hey all,
I'm getting ready to go big on a microphone setup, but I want to get a few extra opinions on the hardware that I have selected to make sure it is both sufficient for each other as well as the best price to performance. I'm really looking for some GREAT quality but not needing something for full on production.

This one will work for sure with both the mic and shock mount. It's the one I use and I used to have that setup. If you just haver the Yeti it might be light enough for something cheaper.
I love it! Its this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001D7UYBO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Arm is great and definitely recommended. I'm using a Rode arm currently. Pretty good arm from my experience so far.

here you go!

I use a Yeti and I got the RODE PSA1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom Arm and attached it to my desk. As for a pop filter, I got Blue Microphones The Pop Universal Pop Filter
I also had the mod mic and was not liking the quality of it in the vids I did on twitch or YT. What I ended up going with is the AT2020 USB Plus so far I have been really happy with it. I did get an [el cheapo arm] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GRMF5ZE/ref=od_aui_detailpages01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) do yourself the favor and get a better arm than the el cheapo it does the job but it sucks lol. The Rode PSA1 is the arm I would get (I do plan on it when funds come available).
Thanks! The microphone is a blue mics yeti, and the arm is a Rode PSA1.

The Rode PSA1 is what I'm currently using with my Shure SM7B mic. It was really straight forward to setup, it has plenty of different angles/positions you can set it up with, and the silent mic movement is on point.
However, this is also the only mic arm I've had so far, so I don't really have anything else to compare it to lol.
Rode PSA1 Link: Amazon
Can vouch for the snowball it's a nice starter mic. Make sure you have available 2.0 ports though. When I first installed I had connected to 3.0 and it worked fine for about a week then my followers report no voice over the weekend and I spent 2 hours uninstalling drivers ect ect. Would also recommend these:

Personally I'd pick up a Rode PSA-1. Just put it up when not in use, and be able to bring the gain down very low since your mouth is right in front of it.
I use the RODE PSA1 and it is amazing.
Hey, I need to get a Shure SM58 to record stuff on my pc. With this being said, I can't afford a mixer or anything like that. Also, my onboard audio is broken which is why I need the USB soundcard. I know it's better to use an audio interface (pls no yell), but will this setup work?

Im getting a blue yeti with this too.
Use something like a shotgun mic and a boom arm like the PSA1 swivel boom arm
This can help keep it out of the way when not in use and then drag it to you when needed. Also there are alot of really decent mic to fit such arms that won't cost too much.
I have this exact boom arm holding an AT2020.

This is what a ton of people use with the Yeti, I assume it will work with the Seiren as well.
You'll need a spider shock mount and then you can mount it on on something like this boom arm.
Yes! I saw it originally in this video. Its the RODE PSA1 Swivel Boom.
You'd also need something to hold your mic. Ideally a mic arm since condenser mics are sensitive and you'd want to properly position it between your desk and your face to avoid picking up keyboard sounds. so add $100 to that if you don't have a mic arm already.
best option: https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
It's a Rode mic stand, nothing fancy. It claps to the desk:
https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478093960&sr=8-1&keywords=rode+microphone+stand
Rhode PSA1.
Depends on your mic. I have a Blue Yeti and absolutely love this one.
https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
I use the AT2020 USB with a cheap desk-mount spring arm and a shock mount. I noticed that most tend to prefer this desk-mount, but you can find cheaper alternatives that will do just fine. I also purchased a third-party pop filter that fits over the mic. You can also get a generic clip-on pop filter that will work just as well. Very clear and crisp audio.
The AT2020 was a gift, so I had no say in the selection. For more control over the audio, I would have preferred an XLR microphone and a USB-out mixer. With the AT2020 USB, I have to double-check my microphone levels in Windows before streaming, because other applications will occasionally change them.
The other option you may want to consider is if the mic has an aux connection so you can plug headphones directly to the mic and self-monitor, such as the Blue Yeti (listen to yourself speak). Some find this helpful, but to each their own.
i have a rode PSA1 and its a great arm.
HERE IS THE LINK
Microphone arm. The microphone at the end of it isn't so well priced.
Yeah I've heard some complaints, but I figured that something like the Rode PSA1 Boom Arm would be able to hold up the yeti.
just a sticky pad of Velcro it worked wonders for more stuff under there!
as for the mount!

First of all, it depends on whether you'll also use a Shock Mount or not (that spider looking thingy that hold the microphone). If you're going to do so you can get:
-Rode PS1A (99$): https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
-Neewer (different options, make sure the one you pick is compatible with Blue yeti as not all of them are): https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_11?url=search-alias%3Dmi&field-keywords=neewer+boom+arm&sprefix=neewer+boom%2Cmi%2C251&crid=L5BL0U899D34
Cheap Expensive I know for a fact the cheaper one works im using it rite now good one to start off with.
If you're going to get a desk mount you'll definitely want a shock mount to go with it, unless you like your mic to pick up every bump on the table, and to vibrate while you're typing.
Now everyone seems to love the Rode mic boom (I don't own it myself, I have a floor mount) https://smile.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1481486293&sr=8-3
And this is the shock mount made by Blue for the Yeti
https://smile.amazon.com/Blue-Radius-II-Microphone-Improved/dp/B00TTQLA50/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481486344&sr=8-1
The two types of mic stands that would likely work best for you would be either a desk mounted boom arm, or tripod boom arm
The most popular I believe would be this one here from Neewer, which I have personally used and is quite nice (and comes with a pop filter as a bonus)
https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Microphone-Suspension-Mounting-Windscreen/dp/B01GRMF5ZE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1520786135&sr=8-5&keywords=boom+arm
But if you willing to dish out a good bit more money Rode makes one that overall just tends to have a little more quality to it
https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1520786135&sr=8-4&keywords=boom+arm
Alternatively, you could get a tripod boom arm, which doesn't require being attached to the desk but is a tiny bit more difficult to get situated in a better spot.
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Tripod-Boom-Microphone-Stand/dp/B019NY2PKG/ref=sr_1_3?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1520786232&sr=1-3&keywords=mic+stand
I might add though that none of these come with is called a shock mount, which is an anti-vibration mount that actually connects the mic to the stand
https://www.amazon.com/Mugig-Recording-Broadcasting-Suspension-Microphone/dp/B078Z75C8W/ref=sr_1_3?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1520786604&sr=1-3&keywords=mic+shock+mount
This one will work, and on the upside also comes with a slightly different kind of pop filter if you wanted to try something a little different, or if the stand you choose doesn't come with one.
For keyboards, the smaller in size you go often the cheaper the keyboards become.
https://i.pinimg.com/originals/5c/40/ab/5c40abb3225a2d4dbcfcbffbf547e094.jpg
Corsair keyboard are some of my favorite pre-built keyboards because their new CUE 2 software lets you program any key you want and have as many key profiles as you want, so if you get a smaller size keyboard you can always program in the extra keys you may have lost.
to which end this keyboard is likely one of the cheapest ones I can find right now.
https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Mechanical-Keyboard-Certified-Refurbished/dp/B00S9AAKA8/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1520787827&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=corsair+keyboard&psc=1
Alternatively, there are a good number of budget options listed here on this buying guide on r/mechanicalkeyboards
https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/wiki/buying_guide
As for mousepads, you can just search "extended mousepad" or "full desk mousepad" and you'll get a good number of options.
A few companies I know that make quality ones are Corsair again, reflex labs, ankor, steelseries, and glorious pc gaming race
The last mention there from what I've heard seems to be the highest quality overall, though personally, I use this pad here as it's got a little more height to it
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072BQH7R8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Once again, I'd be glad to help with any further questions or anything!

What's the thread diameter for the spark?
I was looking at this one for my Yeti.
http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1422254631&sr=8-5&keywords=boom+arm
If you get one of these I'd suggest getting a longer cord for your microphone. That way you can make it follow the arm down and make it look a little neater.
I'm lost.
> I've realized after some time that it's really impractical for me. It's so huge it's blocking part of my screen and keyboard
So it being on a desk stand doesn't work in your use case? No worries, it doesn't work for almost anyones.
> So I wanted to get a foam windscreen instead.
Why would a windscreen solve anything? Windscreens will only deaden sounds from the mic moving around or you blowing air into it. A windscreen won't help with the problem mentioned above at all.
However if you are actually in need of a windscreen, get a pop filter instead. They double as a windscreen and will also help improve resistance to sibilance and pops (S, T, B, P sounds etc). Here are a few examples: $7, $15, $45. The $15 looks really good, $7 one also looks fine.
If you issue is actually the size and position of the mic then you want a scissor/desk mount arm. Here are a few examples: $15, $20, $100. Go for the $20 arm if you are looking for something affordable but reasonable. The $100, Rode PSA-1, is a great arm I have been using it for the last 5 years and its a great investment.
I was curious about the microphone arm as well, as I bought a super cheap one and OPs looked like a great step up. Looks like it's a RODE PSA1. $100..bit more than a step from where I am.
Most people I know use the RODE PSA1 boom arm. It's a bit pricey, but worth it.

There isn't really anything you can do. Have the noise gate up high enough that it won't pick up the sound of typing when you aren't talking and don't type when you talk.
If you are getting sounds from vibrations, get one of these http://www.bluemic.com/desktop_accessories/
and I also use one of these http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_2?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1419442644&sr=1-2 but there are so many different kinds of mic stands that you can use, it all depends on your particular set up and what you want.

That's the one I got. Still pretty expensive.
Then:
Now:
This mic is widely regarded as the BEST table mounted boom arm available, and I agree. Been using it for months at this point and it's reputation holds up. It's pro.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/RØDE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO?ie=UTF8&keywords=rode%20microphone%20arm&qid=1459445097&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1
This desktop clamp supports the Yeti fine, and so long as the gain is set up right, there's no real unwanted background noise. Its a heavy mic though which can be tricky, and the only compatible shock mount is big and expensive. Make sure to get the Radius II shock mount if you're going to since the old one was terrible.
http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/
Good mic arm, I highly recommend if you have a stand alone mic.
about $150 I think the shock mount has be the one that razer sells and the mic arm has to be able to support the mics weight.
Arm: http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1457391274&sr=8-3&keywords=mic+arm

It's the RODE PSA1.
It's a little pricey at $99, but it seems to be the best you can get for under $100. After I got mine I noticed like every big youtuber seems to use the same.
I also like that it comes with the desk clamp mount, and also comes with an in-desk grommet mount.
*Note: None of these links are affiliates. I just googled what I had and got the best link. I tried to post the links I used when buying. It's just been so long.
I can vouch for the EleTab Dual Monitor Mount for $100

There is This one, of the same brand, that i'm using because I have deeper desk now.

For what it's worth, i've had monitor mounts (both dual and triple) from Mount-It! and VIVO and neither are comparable to the convience and quality of the EleTab. I have two Acer Predator XB27HU 27" 1440p/165hz panels up and it holds beautifully. That mount has tabs in the back along with detachable VESA mounts that allow for extremely convientant install. I put both fairly heavy and bulky monitors up by myself with zero issue. The longest part was screwing the screws in. Whole process took 5 minutes.

As an aside, if you are looking for a mount for a standalone microphone, I can't recommend the RHODE arm enough.
There are definitely cheaper options, like Neewer and AmazonBasics, which are better than nothin, but I wouldn't recommend them. They'll hold whatever you want. But they don't hold well, they sag, they ripped up my old desk with the clamp, and the clamp was cheap and never completely secured. They also lack the QOL features I mentioned on top of pretty poor performance. They hold things, they just don't do it well. Build Quality is super important and for anyone who hasn't put that value into their stands, i'd recommend it because you would never go back to the $25 USD stands and arms.
For anyone who asks, why spend $200~ between your monitor mount and your microphone boom arm? Because it's holding $1300 worth of tech that I can't trust to a $20 stand.

I never cheap out on anything that holds something i'd hate to see fall. My chair, my desk, my monitor stand and my microphone arm.
Yeah, I actually bought a neewer arm before the rode and it couldn't handle much weight at all.
The rode is on sale for $89.25 on amazon right now.
This is the one I use and I've seen maany people use this one as well on twitch. Obviously I'd recommend going to a store and see for yourself how it looks.
https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
RODE PSA-1 is the arm part. Expensive? yes. The quality really holds up the Blue Yeti since it is one of the heaviest mics.
https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
What's your budget? A common affordable mic is a Blue Yeti, or Blue Snowball. A favorite among the gaming community is the Sennheiser HD 598, or HD 598 SE.. they are the same, but the SE are black. Then if you want those headphones but with closed backs they are now around $50 less then the open backs.. HD 598 C's. It is preferred with those headphones, to buy a headphone amp or USB DAC to go with it.. If those don't work within your budget, let me know and we can find something else! There are many options. My personal setup is Sennheiser PC-350 headset with the Mic removed, and an AKG P220 condenser mic mounted onto a Rode PSA1 desktop boom arm connected to a Behringer Q802USB Mixer.
The arm I got was a rode ps1a
and I just got some cheap pop filter at a local store, similar to this one
No, the PC doesn't get picked up by the mic (probably because I'm using a NZXT Kraken x52 to water cool my CPU). Here is the microphone arm I'm using -https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO . It's a very well built microphone arm and I would recommend it.
LOL, here's a link
Yeah I know obviously this is a day after we spoke but after doing some more researching this is what I will be getting
I am also looking for a mount for the microphone similar to THIS!
However I don't want to spend that price on something I can get a lot cheaper, however I do not want to get a extremely cheap one such as a £10 one due to them most likely not last long, is there something in the inbetween which would be good for the type of set up?
and is there anything I don't need which I have listed?
Sorry for all the questions, I do appreciate your help
Looks like this.
RODE PSA1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom Arm https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_loyizbNVRFVXW
I just bought a Shure SM7b and attached it to my RODE PSA1 and im getting a lot of bassy desk noises and sounds that whenever I lean on or hit against my desk even lightly it will carry through to my mic and it's really iterating. I thought the purpose of a boom arm was to reduce this. Will drilling the holder that it came with through my desk and using it that way opposed to the desk clamp make a difference? I'm having a tough time solving this issue.
Edit: If it also helps at all I am using a BEHRINGER XENYX QX1002USB
and Cathedral Pipes Ribbon/Dynamic Mic Buffer Amp
I use the Rode PSA-1 and it has been solid for me. Just be warned if your mic + shockmount setup is on the heavier side, it can get pulled down after a while and may need some readjusting. Just make sure it is compatible first! http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1404309713&sr=8-1&keywords=Rode+PSA-1
Do you have the xlr or usb version? if its xlr any old xlr cable should work, but the usb uses this cable . Personally I use this shockmount and this desk mount which isn't very bad for the price but you can definitely tell its a cheap mount. Most of the accessories are garbage and I ended up cutting out the XLR cable and wiring my usb cable through it, but if you have the xlr version I guess it'll work fine for you. I know for a fact that shock mount you just linked doesn't work, but it does come with the desk mount I linked (for $20 more) so you may as well try it for yourself, the best option would be the Audio Technica shock mount but its pretty pricey. I should also mention the better option for the desk mount would be the Rode desk mount and that the AT2020 on its own is comparable with either desk mount as long as you use the mount that comes with it for the desk stand, just remove the mount itself and screw it to the desk mount. hope my experience could help you out :)
Im currently using the Podcaster, so this is a pretty bias'd opinion.
If your desk have space for it, a boom arm like the RØDE PSA1 (UK Amazon Link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/RØDE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474200451&sr=8-1&keywords=psa1) compliments the Podcaster really well.
If not, then a simple tripod mount (American Amazon Link: https://www.amazon.com/Stage-Stands-MS7701B-Tripod-Microphone/dp/B000978D58) would prob. also do the trick.
TL;DR A boom arm is really great for the PODCASTER, because, since it is a dynamic mic, you need it to be about a fists length away from your mouth, (at least from my experience.) and a boom arm gives you a lot of flexibility in terms of positioning the mic.
Oh yeah, use this part of the offical RØDE website to check where you can buy their microphones, and microphone stands(If you didn't know already): http://www.rode.com/wheretobuy
Hey there, I have a sE2200a II C condenser mic. I do not have the shock mount that comes with it as it was damaged during a recent move. I'm going to use the mic for some vocal recordings, voiceovers, and talking over Skype and such, so I think I'd be best to go with a desk stand (I can make it work for the vocal recordings).
I have no idea where to start here, so I'd be happy with some suggestions on shock mount and/or stand. My budget is a bit tight, so I wouldn't want to spend more than $100 - $150 if possible, but ideally I'd like a decent quality product.
I posted to /r/audio and got the following suggestion, but have no idea on the shock mount.
http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
My Blue Yeti does omni-directional as well, so not worried on that part. However I worry on sound quality. Wouldn't doing omni create too much echo?
I've been researching booms. I'm thinking of the "RODE PSA1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom Arm"
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1LF8FF0ZTBGYV&coliid=I2WX073544J82U
Here's the arm https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
The shock mount is custom made because it doesn't fit.
You just need to drill out the hole and make a spacer between the mount and the mic :)
I use the Rode PSA
RODE PSA1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom Arm https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_2MXnxbAC7A3XQ
That microphone arm looks annoying, I use this: http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370441426&sr=8-1&keywords=rode+boom+arm
I positioned it so that the base is at the rear of my desk and my microphone is held low to the left of my left monitor. And it's easy to keep near my mouth when I'm recording and moving.
I think it's this one: https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
Oh man I had such trouble with first arm so i bought this one and it's got a real premium feel to it https://www.amazon.co.uk/R%C3%98DE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
I've found this:
https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
But its a bit too expensive, is there other options?
I bought mine on amazon.co.uk
The Røde PSA1 has been great to me. I highly recommend it.
Thanks for the replies - I know I said I didn't need a boom arm, but after looking at my desk and how I'd ideally like to (eventually) get things set up I bit the bullet and ordered https://www.amazon.co.uk/R%C3%98DE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=rode+nt1+mic+stand&qid=1565197851&s=musical-instruments&sr=1-5

Hey I was looking for a stand for my Blue Yeti Microphone for under 100 dollars. I am looking for one that mounts to a desk rather than one that sits on top. I was looking at this one but it was a bit pricey.
Thanks!
Being that you have a Blue Yeti (same as me), you'll want to get the only shock mount that works with that mic (that I've been able to find, at least): http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Microphones-Radius-Microphone-Shock/dp/B005DVF15A
As for a boom, the absolute best value for you money is the Rode PSA-1: http://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
Other boom stands are available but the PSA-1 is excellent quality and is recommended a lot. I went with a cheaper option and kind of regret it because it does have its downfalls.
I think you might have to just jury rig something. Is your desk a family heirloom or something? Can you mess with it is what I mean. Try wood gluing a solid piece of timber on the side that the clamp can more easily attach to? I just know most of those cheap-o desk stands are very similar.
Here is a pricier one made by RODE, the PSA1. This picture looks like it might have a bigger clamp surface area. You might just be able to get the clamp part from somewhere.
https://www.amazon.com/RODE-Swivel-Mount-Studio-Microphone/dp/B001D7UYBO
On my personal rig I use the [audiotechnica ATH M50Xs](Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Professional Studio Monitor Headphones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HVLUR86/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_J9fIybVCJPWFD) and they sound amazing, I also use a [blue yeti mic](Blue Yeti USB Microphone - Blackout Edition https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N1YPXW2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_55fIybEAPYH7B) and it comes out clear crisp and clean. To keep my desk from lots of chaos I use a [boom arm](RODE PSA1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom Arm https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_l7fIybE7YH913).
( I don't use that boom arm personally, but for someone who wants a good quality boom arm, that's the one.)
Now all this stuff will give you the best experience for a separate mic and headphone combo (well best experience that won't cost thousands of dollars) but if you don't want to use the yeti on a boom arm and just want a headset, get the M50Xs and get an [attachment microphone ](Antlion Audio ModMic 4.0 Attachable Boom Microphone - Omni-Directional with Mute Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00T6XUL8S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_bRagIybFHB6Q2N) instead. This mic has better quality than pretty much any mic built into headsets since the mic tends to be where they cut corners.
As a person who owns dozens of pairs of gaming headphones, I would choose my audiotechnicas with an external mic over them all. I have used Sades GW, Corsair Voids, Turtle Beaches 800Xs, Astro a40s, Logitech g930s, Tritton 720+s and many cheap headsets as well. Get the m50Xs, I would also recommend [sennheiser hd598](Sennheiser HD 598 Special Edition Over-Ear Headphones - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0126HISOO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_UkgIybSZ1SBNW) headphones. The truth about all those gaming features (and this is my opinion, as an owner of all the aforementioned headphones) is that high quality sound is better than fake 7.1 surround.
If you're talking about their newer set (#412) then this reddit post says it's this model. Their older set (say, #312) seems to use the rode desk clamp stand whereas even older (#280) just seems to use a generic clamp stand like this neewer.
Enough people have the blue yeti that you should be able to google around for each mic stand to see if it'll support the weight.
It's a RODE PSA1 that he's mounted into the desk. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001D7UYBO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The bottom base is different because of the desk mount.
I've been using a Blue Yeti with this Rode swivel arm for about a year, and it works just fine.
After 8 years of audio engineering I am able to gather that much, but what is the mic stand they use? Brand and model? I have not been able to find tan arm like that after MONTHS of research. All I am able to find are the old scissor style with large springs (kinda like what we use in radio stations) I have a very niche case where I need a mic stand EXACTLY like this one. This mic stand has been annoying me. I wish some one from RT would post the brand -_-
Different guy but I use this one and it is not cheap. Have had it for 2 years and works like new.
