Yeah, bluetooth controllers are a thing. Controlling your tesla with this guy would be orgasmic.

I went with the pro gaming elite bundle and it's a game changer.

I also bought this ravpower 26800 powerbank which the case was specifically made to fit and it fits like a glove.

It can also fit a spare set of joycons (complete with the bumpers attached), an 8bit sn30pro, this portable dock, and this small charger, complete with all cables required except the hdmi cable.

Full disclosure, that dock and compact charger works with latest switch firmware, but the dock has died once already and was replaced under warranty by the manufacturer. If I were to do it again I'd probably switch to the bionic all in one dock that includes charger, hdmi cable, and everything.

Edit: Bonus: I also attached a pro controller to the unit via this molded controller case attached to the satisfy case via the provided carabiner - or I would if this particular part of my setup wasn’t stolen.

This is the one I plan on getting. It has decent reviews and I think it would be best with my gameplay style.

I have this one and I don't notice any input lag over what would be noticeable with a normal Switch Pro controller when using it with my Switch. You do not need a separate dongle for the Switch. The ones 8bitdo sell are for bluetooth-less devices, like the mini consoles (Wii accessory-style connector to Bluetooth) or original consoles (SNES to Bluetooth, NES to Bluetooth, Genesis to Bluetooth). On Switch or Raspberry Pi or a laptop or PC with built-in Bluetooth will work just fine. If you have a PC without Bluetooth, pretty much any dongle will work just fine.

I like the controllers with the phone clips because there's more control with how the screen is angled. I don't like the controllers that attach to the sides of the phone (like a Game Gear). I have a Gamesir G4S. It's quite good in feel. The only issue I have is it randomly disconnects now and then, which isn't too big a deal for a game like FFT.

A lot of people like the 8bitdo variants with a separate clip, but they're smaller than I'd like.

  The SN30 looks pretty much exactly like the original, except the text says "8Bitdo GamePad Bluetooth Controller" instead of "Super Nintendo Entertainment System". They're both great, and I've gotten pretty good scores in Tetris when playing alone.
  
  But when more controllers are connected, and I'm playing multiplayer Tetris, there's an ever-so-slight input lag that makes me consistently make mistakes. Just switching to the left Joy-Con directional buttons is better.
  
  So my main hope with this official one was that, since it's essentially a Pro controller with missing buttons and sticks, the input lag issue wouldn't exist. I haven't confirmed it. I'll do it this Friday at the office where we play Tetris regularly.

The Pokken controller is fantastic for playing, but not for building. The lack of joystick makes using the cursor impossible.

Rather then that snes looking one, Id go for a 8bitdo device.

Better build quality, actual customer support for any issues, and they here is a bunch of colors on the horizon, plus a whole line of controllers with grips. but those aren't out yet.

The initial controller is OKish for most 3D games, but it's not great for 2D since they made the D-Pad into 4 buttons so they could be used for single Joycon play.


If Mario Maker is what you have in mind a 8bitdo SNES30 Pro may be the best option for you. The D-Pad on the Pro Controller is not the best either, but a SNES30 has one of the best D-Pads on the market. Also it's less expensive than a Pro Controller.

Personally I don't think the SNES30 Pro works as well for 3D games because of the location of the analog sticks, but if you like the Playstation layout that may not be a negative for you.

Also be aware that the SNES30 can't turn on the system remotely, so you'll either need to turn it on with the Joycons first or hit the power button on the Switch before you sit down.

The GameCube d-pad sucks ass. Between these two I'd get the black one.
