I've had KP since I was a kid and am finally getting handle on it in my 30s. My current routine is glycolic lotion twice a day, creams on the affected areas 3-4 times a day, and then physical exfoliation and using zinc or sulfur soap a couple times a week to keep the bumps at bay. But since skincare is YMMV, here's the exhaustive list of almost two decades of treatment, in case some of these other things will work for you!

100% of the items can be purchased via Amazon in the US - it's pretty much the only way I shop.

Beginner Level

If your KP has just appeared, focus on physical+chemical exfoliation and moisturizing. Look for lotions with the following ingredients:

Stridex is easiest, but cheap is salicylic acid soap. I get a blue bar from walmart for like 2 bucks and it lasts a month or so if I only use it on my face (I also hit my chest, armpits [really good to reduce BO and crusty pits] and my upper shoulders/back). I am an oily dude btw, probably obvious though, so your mileage may vary but it is awesome stuff.

E: So walmart also sells a cheap sulfur soap that I use, but here is something on amazon with both in one bar-- https://www.amazon.com/SAL3-Salicylic-Acid-Sulfur-Soap/dp/B00685KUGA/ref=pd_sim_194_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00685KUGA&pd_rd_r=31e721fe-bae8-11e8-8a49-4dd240b1bebd&pd_rd_w=v7IZA&pd_rd_wg=sdjwg&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=18bb0b78-4200-49b9-ac91-f141d61a1780&pf_rd_r=EFX5XHZ6QKXBBCVGV4WZ&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=EFX5XHZ6QKXBBCVGV4WZ

My understanding is that SA is essentially aspirin, so I dont really splurge for the expensive on that because I imagine it is wasteful (same for sulfur too). In my local walmart the soap with spanish language on the front is usually about 1/3 the price of the english label on the next aisle

Product name: Sal3 bar soap

Product type: cleanser

Price (range): 5.99 for a bar on amazon - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00685KUGA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Bnz6BbEMYC785

Country of purchase: USA

Skin info: Type II, acne prone, rosacea, sensitive (and irritated from tretinoin)

Ingredient list: Active ingredients: 3% salicylic acid, 10% sulfur. Inactive ingredients: saponified palm and palm kernal oils, glycerin, lanolin, cocamide DEA, ethanol, titanium dioxide.

Special info: high pH of close to 9 I believe, and it has an earthy dirt like smell

Experience & opinion: honestly this saved my skin. I went from irritated and red with cc’s all over to semi clear. It’s strong and the pH isn’t ideal but it helps with redness and irritation so much! I was told to use it by my derm to help with the irritation from the tret and to work on the rosacea. I use it once a day and rub it in for about 90 seconds as per her instructions.

SAL3 Soap: A bar soap with 10% sulfur and 3% salicylic acid. Omg, the improvement I've seen within 2 weeks of this stuff is insane. Sulfur is anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory; salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant. This stuff is destroying my chestne and backne, without destroying my skin or taking 3000 years to work!

I would suggest not using it too often at first -- like Stridex or other salicylic acid products, it can dry your skin out if you suddenly start using it 3x a day. Start with once a day or once every other day.

This is the bar soap I'm working through. Sal3

I hate bar soap, so hopefully I can find a liquid version. This stuff smells, so I usually follow up with regular body wash so I don't smell like an active volcano.

I use the Sal3 sulfur/salicylic acid soap also from Braunfels, and I find is rinses away pretty much odorless too. The maker claims it's because of its "colloidal" formulation: https://www.amazon.com/SAL3-Salicylic-Acid-Sulfur-Soap/dp/B00685KUGA/ref=sr_1_3?m=AA82KDCI0X2JF&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&qid=1565155864&s=merchant-items&sr=1-3

It can be very drying though, be sure to have a good moisturizer and maybe use every other day.

I shampoo my hair, put conditioner in it, and put my hair up. While the conditioner is sitting, I wash all of my body except my back. I rinse my hair again and put it up once more. Then I use a back brush and some magical acne soap to clean my back. This helps a lot.

I'm super acne prone though, so I also regularly disinfect my sheets and sports bras with this stuff. Maybe give it a shot if washing your back last doesn't help?

Does anyone have experience with sal3 sulfur soap? (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00685KUGA/ref=mp_s_a_1_8_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1469417239&sr=8-8&keywords=salicylic+acid) It has sulfur and BHA in it which are suppose to help with acne, so I'm thinking of trying it out, should I be at all cautious of it?

I get this too, I use Sal3 soap in the shower and Salicylic acid cream it helps alot.

Seriously though, that soap is amazing, helped with my plaque psoriasis and eczema issues that I get.
